What is the Football Commission doing about falling Attendances?
Don’t want to single you out or anything.but WAFL Attendances are taking an alarming Dive on your watch!
In fact they are speeding it up,what was done and where was the protest when the State Labor Gov Announced they were killing Foudation Day as a Stand Alone WA Public Holiday and the biggest last big WAFL day surviving? Now its going to be GONE with the day the same as the AFLs Kings Birthday games…
So where was the noise from WAFL Inc and Clubs and its Supporters,…absolute Pizz Poor crickets across the board….

Too true , the death rate and aged rate at WAFL support level is really kicking in now, Southy you know even at our club the clear out of absolute stalwarts in the members over the last decade has been palbable,..those old players supporters officals that never missed a game, well they are gone and not replaced, how many young ones are taking their places. how many are left that recall the BIG days of the 70s …to say they are thinning on the ground is an understatment…
And those that still remain , pick and choose a few games a year, the numer attending every home game ,well lucky if its 40% attending aways make that 20%…When you are 60 plus its winter and the games live on TV and the fridge is full of cold cheap grog …well I know what is easier…
How many still buy the seasons pass Southy? I reckon maybe a couple of hundred, not many,…notice they dont bother reserving seats with name tags anymore in the members, infact that ended years ago, you used to have to pay extra for that,…well come in and take a pick becasue the last bloke died 7 years ago and was never replace, …yes its kinda like the Freemasons now, a mob that is literaly dieing out…and looking for a member if you are game….
The chances as you well know are next to ZERO of that happening, what amazed me was the number of so called WAFL folks who said ,its not that important as WAFL just doesnt matter compared to having a better day off,…that my grassy friend is the entire predictment in a nutshell.

Thats another big problem…plus the quality is well just not there in a lot of games…the low scoring is a joke.
We’re in decline. We may as well make it as gentle as possible and enjoy what WAFL we have left.
Its been a great season with lots of close games. The ladder is very tight. The standard is pretty high.
Crowds are small because a lot of us are old or brown bread. That’s just how it goes. Hopefully the standard of footy can continue to remain as high as it is for another few years or so. And the clubs solvent.
The most disappointing aspect JL,is the SANFL still manage to draw 3 to 4K crowds and 40k for their Grand Finals,which puts us to shame.
For once,someone from The West made sense.
Mitch Woodcock raised the point that with Fremantle and West Coast playing Saturday,why the Clubs didn’t move their fixtures to Sunday?
Fair enough,why didn’t we?
That’s one you ask the Council of Presidents,Mitch.Why didn’t we switch the WAFL to Sunday and WAFLW to Saturday,…?
Now then,that’s where the Clubs come into conflict with their Women’s Teams,if they feel like they’re getting shifted around,…
Simple answer Grassy REAL WAFL players are semi professional with jobs to go to and cherish their Saturday nights and Sundays before it’s back up at the crack of dawn on Monday.

Another way to appeal to those,who can’t get to AFL Games at Perth Stadium and most likely never will being on a waiting list for an Eternity is for Families to consider this,…
You want to see the stars of tomorrow?Up close?You can and it doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg to see many of these guys weekly,NOT fortnightly.
Even get autographs that shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg either.Heck,if Mum and Dad hand the kids over to the Grandies after the footy,you might get to meet these guys and chat with them,provided you’re polite about it,be yourself and just have a good time.
There’s 3 games to view most times,not just 1 and have a great time.Even meet heroes of the past,…
If you have time on your hands,nothing else to do,Eagles and Dockers aren’t playing,Perth’s weather is Brilliant more often than not.

Always been the way, SANFL got bigger crowds in 70s and 80s than WAFL ever did, and they stayed loyal after, SANFL also managed the entire thing a lot better, merged a poorly performed club, kept revenues up with pokies, and made sure Port and Crows money came back, they also owned Football Park, sold it and did a good deal with Cricket for the current Oval set up, …in other words they did the exact opposite to everything WAFL did.

Yep,the Croweaters have sure done things better than we have here,particularly compared to the Football Commission.
Although these days,the SANFL have had to deal with some pushback by the 2AFL Cubs in South Australia particularly from David Koch.
SA MATT could tell us about that if he was still around.
SANFL sold their licences to the AFL Clubs for around 20 Millon ten years or so, so now are both completly indepedent of each other.
266,000 at games last year 34k at GF.
Something the WAFC should have done years ago.

Might of only payed $1 for Port Adelaide,in huge debt back in 13.
Pretty close all up they payed .40 million for the Crows.

Obviously he gave us the lowdown on matters arising from the SANFL.He’s a Red and White man himself,in this case the Roosters of Prospect,Home of North Adelaide Football Club.
SANFL got 6.5 Million for the Port Licence.
