2026 for EP

Very hard to cover with 9 changes to last week’s Team.

Claremont has 15 changes,….

PSA and State 18’s program starting simultaneously ,explains it,…

Yes, agree with all those sentiments. Will emphasise our form is average and we are short on senior midfielders. Our forward line is a selection headache. Can’t be missing the set shots we are, and the smalls Burgiel and Peaky just aren’t kicking enough goals or pressuring to my liking.

I agree with your thoughts, Grump and Larry.

Our defence was resolute all day and despite our goalfront inaccuracy, Perth was marginally worse (40% versus 33%), particularly as they kicked 15.3 (93) in the corresponding fixture last year.

Given that we were kicking to the non-scoring end in the last quarter, where only 2 of the first 11 goals had been scored, I thought the boys showed a lot of ticker to get us across the line.

At half-time, we had only 13 inside-50s to the Demons’ 26, so we certainly lifted in the third quarter (although 32 I50s won’t win us many games).

The return of Hamish Brayshaw certainly gave us some added midfield grunt, although I’ll be very relieved when Cooper Stephens is fully fit, while I understand Liam Tedesco is still a while away from overcoming his back injury.

Hopefully Stan Wright’s late withdrawal yesterday was only precautionary, as we certainly missed his penetrating 50m kicks out of the backline.

Any win’s a good win in a season where Claremont and South Freo are likely to finish in the top two, with almost every other side eyeing the prized third spot and the double chance.

Good on East Perth for coming up to our Bar,League and Colts.

After The Final Siren, rivalries don’t matter so much and it was good having a quick chat and laugh with Jonesy afterwards.

Like Milo to milk,it’s marvellous what a difference 7 quality ins make.

I think the difference was the coach, McQueen has the cattle and he knows how to use them, unlike some teams our players seem to follow the instructions. Good win in the reserves which demonstrated to me at least that we have the back up if required.

I watch the colts and it was sad not just we were outplayed but it seemed that the Tiggers decided oh well we have them beaten and then just played selfish protective football, not a good habit to fall into!

I wonder why it is ok for this colts coach to debut so many players and why this same trait was rumoured to be why the last coach was dispensed with! It is great that the squad gets a chance but continuity is also important for players development!

Oh I should mention I cannot read some posters (well one in particulars) comments as I have blocked their constant rubbish! Not that really matters to anyone else

Grump, you have to remember also that Coach McQueen came from Claremont where he won, I think it was 6 Premierships in Reserves and Colts.

He would know their culture very well.

Gee whiz, they didn’t ease up on our group of mainly 17 year olds.

Nor would I expect them to!

What made them do so yesterday?

Yes McQueen does know but he is a very good coach that has been building the team slowing this year for the finals. A considered approach and one that is different to previous seasons

The EP boys and McQueen certainly had our measure on Saturday.

Winners across all lines.

Still a good day commemorating the 100th milestone for the club even if EP did gatecrash the party

Spoiled West Perths 1985 Leederville hundred year celebrations as well, when we were near the bottom of the ladder :grinning_face:

As did Swans and Perth, knocking them out on the same day in September.Ruined any prospects of a Flag in their Centenary Year.

Grump has moved more players out of EP than knee injuries. First time this season we actually played well, it does give some hope for a solid finals campaign. I’m not totally sold yet though.

I have moved or mcqueen has moved

Just teasing Grump, but the rumour was you get in the ear of any reasonable player that gets dropped to the reserves. Perhaps feeding them with such lines as that recruit should have been dropped not you. Not ideal from a player retention and cultural viewpoint. Only what I’ve been told at the club. It may just be gossip.

I wrote a lengthy response but have deleted it, I cannot be bothered any more with this crap!
