We’ll take the win Larry, but can our midfield match the Bulldogs???and even at this early stage, this new centre bounce rule is certainly not doing Jonesy any favours and appears to be blunting his main physical strengths.
I missed the subiaco game but watched yesterdays game and thought that you could see the players coming together as the game progressed. It seemed to me it was this and our ability to tough it out in the latter stages to overcome Swans who put up a great fight for two and a bit quarters.
Craven, Graham, Kuek and Schofield should be our stable forward line with Medhat replacing Burgiel. The backline looks solid and with Baker coming back in 6 to 8 weeks will just add addition skill and strength.
A good result against a fast-running opposition.
I think the forward line will be a moving feast. We have a multitude of combinations that may work on a given day. Tedesco, Raykos and Brayshaw back in and we should hold our own Lucky. That may be a while off though.
Looking at the big picture,we’re 2 to 3 class midfielders short of knocking of the Bulldogs, but the big revelation of this new centre bounce rule Larry,is Sebits unsurprising ability to dominate the taps, where it’s essentially now like a basketball tipoff.
Really great results for the futures and now the colts.
Futures were pretty much on control all da,
Colts big come from behind win. Great effort and a good start to the season.
The best part about yesterday’s win,13 were from our zones,8 country and 5 from our metro. Our 2024 grand final side only contained 8.
I’ve just seen our lineup v the Sharks, and with the ill timed suspension of Cooper Stephens, were looking a little bit thin in the midfield, and this game is certainly no gimme,as the Sharks have been playing quite well despite their player losses from last season
Agreed, Lucky, as unfortunately no game against the Sharks is ever easy.
If we can consistently get the ball forward, I’m confident that we can kick a winning score. However, that’s a big IF, as we’ve struggled to win the centre clearances in both games this year, even with Cooper Stephens in the side.
It’s a good opportunity Archie, for youngsters like Lindberg,Cassidy,Screaigh and maybe Burgiel can get more of a run through the middle,so let’s see if they have what it takes, although losing Baker for the season is a bit of a body blow as well.
The East’s games of late have all been close affairs…..Watts usually pops up to be an EF nemesis. Can see this being no different, always a good opportunity to see what the youngsters bring to the table with a few of the experienced players out. Craven was one who definitely impressed me before going to Brisbane a few years back.
Good to have Brayshaw back, but I’m starting to get “Nick Robertson”vibes on the durability of last years so called boom recruit Cooper Stephens. He came across after having a limited injury ravaged AFL games career, and proceeded to do his ACL in last year’s preseason, and after finally stringing together a couple of games in a row, manages to get himself suspended for a week, and was available to play but apparently has now suffered a quad injury,so is out for another couple of weeks, which is poor timing as far as our midfield stocks are concerned.
good to see the coaches and selection panel have not made many changes to a losing team
Season looks a washout Lucky unfortunately. Perhaps keep playing the young guys like Craven, Cassidy, Peak and Screigh even though they aren’t physically up to the level. Maybe one or two of them may improve. We need to free up some points for better quality imports. I would probably move North, Scott and Burgiel out for more physical players.
LB, you’re an old Devon Perry fan.
I used to hate that prick, but he was a great footballer.
I wouldn’t give up on the season yet Larry, but if we get rolled tomorrow we maybe in trouble.I didn’t foresee us at the beginning of the season, going into games with Stephens,Tedesco,Baker and Raykos all being out at the same time, and I’m not sure the players promoted are capable of filling that void.
Just on the point of physical maturity, although he’s very talented,God knows what Brisbane were thinking when they drafted Darcy Craven in that idiotic MSD,as the kids body is clearly not up to the rigours of AFL football, but I suppose after winning the last couple of flags, they probably don’t care.
EP will be fine, it’s very early days, EP quality will come through….
I think full strength we will Freezin, but we certainly don’t have the depth of the Sharks, who have so far done remarkably well when you consider the preseason player losses Monaghan had to contend with, and you have to give him credit as well.
Not too many like Dev nowadays, David Swan also was hated by all except the Royals. Much more even competition this year but we may fall into the finals. I see a distinct lack of hardness in our squad, whilst we are still competitive we have too many lightweights.
Gee that was an Ugly watch!! and the team that rolled us last week, got spanked by over a 100 points.
It was a very disjointed game by both sides, we seemed to win with less errors. Perth were promising more than they showed and we seem to be playing a style that invites sides to run against us!
Our backline was great again with Sturrock more than capable with Soutar, McCreadie, Milner, Foley and Watts doing what was required in applying pressure to the Perth forwards. Once the ball got past centre we seemed to me to not see the choices being presented.
A win is a win but we will need to improve as each week passes if we want to play in GF,
Msando pulled up a bit sore after his first game las week and Hille did his hamstring again and will be a few weeks away from coming back in!
In the reserves we had a good win with Medhat, Regan, Gulluni and the Pizz pressing for a promotion. Donnelly, Kissack and Delaney looking like they could play at the next level.
Have not watch the colts but with 7 debutants it was going to be a struggle.
