This is a but of a fall on the sword for me, I thought when the players left I thought that our depth would be an issue, sometimes it has been but yesterday we saw Cassidy, Lindberg. Pizzolante, Soutar, Milner and Peake all come through when it counted. When you add the reserves win to the mix, Mcreadie got through on managed minutes, we are still doing very well. Ross McQueen and Josh Imms are very good in their respective roles.

Great team effort the pressure was very high. Perth as usual want to go fast every time they get the ball. We made it difficult for them.
I can’t speak for the Coaching Staff at my Club,but one would think a change of tactics would be required,playing you guys.
I don’t think Stoney has Mal Atwell’s build to play up front,but I’m looking forward to playing you guys again this year,already…
Larry looking at the replay the umpires were very generous towards your players short chip retain the football style. I saw many that should have been called not 15 play on whereas one of our players passes in the last qtr went closer to 20 than 15 and called play on. A real lack of consistency there.
We’ll be watching closely should we meet in the finals.
Fair call, both of us making finals would be a good thing. Yesterday’s game was largely a non contest though. I think Perth would benefit from being able to maintain possession to halt momentum. Certainly under no illusions we are fairly ordinary and Perth had an off day.
You’ve already forced me to re-evaluate your prospects,by covering your injuries and reckon you can Ambush Peel if you get another Crack at them!
We have beaten claremont, souths, perth twice, eagles with 17 afl players so I think we are more than ordinary personally. Considering bulk of our midfield is out and arguably our best defender, the depth of our list has really taken me by surprise. The coaching staff are very good and they know how to take another teams strength away from them.
Get a few back and anything is possible. I cant see it happening because of the constant team changes but would loved to be proven wrong.
Perth will be fine and can see them going deep this year but also hoping, when we come up against them, we knock them off again.
Best of luck dees for remainder of year as other than the royals, would like to see Perth win one as I cant stand Peel, still hate claremont since 96 and couldnt care less about any other club.

More so our win/loss Dev stamps us as ordinary. I think we actually have the best squad in the WAFL. Sometimes injuries, form or lack of motivation can intercede.

Agree about our best 23 Larry, I was certain if we had a fully fit 23 with a couple coming in and out as the season goes, that we could win it this year, cant see it happening due to the injuries and who the injured are but again, no issues being proven wrong
Reckon the attitude of some of your younger guys is top shelf and if that mood is infectious,you’ll be very hard to stop.
If it drops off mind you against unlikely opponents(eg West Perth),results do tend to suffer.I can’t imagine you guys letting that happen again against your next opponents,like my Club did.
Bassendean is never an easy ground to play on,and hopefully the fringe players can back up last week’s efforts.It’s probably difficult to see our on ballers dominating the midfield battle,but you would expect the influence of Scott Jones and the overall more scoring options we seem to have in the forward line,should net us the 4 points.
Yep Swans too good,and unfortunately our fringe players were found wanting and Tyler Lindberg has got a long way to go,as he went from a 25 possession 2 goal game last week,to serving up a paltry 7 possessions and he’s got to somehow find some consistency if he wants to be a permanent fixture in the midfield, but at the end of the day it’s all academic as Peels narrow win last week was an aberration,and regardless of who we’ve got in or out,at this stage they look past the post.
Seems that way if we stopped the Season now.
They could Romp it in from here,bomb out and go out in straight sets or lose it on the big day.
2 of those options look very appealing.
Our Jekyll and Hyde season continues, Lucky.
Every time we have a strong win (Claremont, South Fremantle and Perth), we put in a poor performance the week after (although that would be doing a grave disservice to Swans’ strong performance yesterday).
At half-time, from my vantage point in the big wooden stand (in between the McDonald Stand and the Swans members), I saw Christian Ameduri, Hamish Brayshaw, Angus Scott, Cooper Stephens and Stan Wright all in earnest conversation on the sidelines, with Harry Macreadie not far away.
I know Ameduri and Brayshaw are unavailable due to injury for a while yet, but I hope Macreadie, Scott, Stephens and Wright are all ready to go for the vital home match against Claremont in 13 days’ time.
We were smashed at the centre clearances yesterday, so I hope our coaching staff work overtime at improving this aspect of our game, otherwise it will be mothballs on August 22.
We’ve now lost to the bottom 3 teams Arch,but at the end of the day,the outside prospect of playing a Peel side that are probably 6 goals stronger than the one that knocked us off in the 2024 decider,is not a palatable notion for me,and our best 23 hasn’t got a snowballs chance of defeating this mob.
That said, both the Dockers and Thunder have had a dream run with injuries (or lack thereof) thus far, Lucky, so if a few of their players were to cop a few “niggles” at the business end of the season, it would open the door for a potential boilover on Grand Final day (the collapsed Catholic in me hopes that these injuries are neither long-term nor career-threatening).
From an EP perspective, we just have to reduce the gap between our best and our worst football (preferably, raise the bar with the worst so that the gap is smaller).
I wish we were playing next Saturday to make amends for our “sins” yesterday.
However, the weekend off will hopefully enable some of our injured “prime movers” to be available for selection for another keenly contested meeting with the Tigers.
