[quote=“Freezin post=212765 userid=945”]All jokes aside, if the Perth fans can fill up Optus, as well as the SD fans, if their colts boys get through, then surely that would be a plus for both grades and the WAFL, whether they stay for the main game is another question…be great if they did to fill out the seats…

Most will be friends and family of the players, unless the league team is also in the GF , then 90% of them leave after the game to either celebrate or commiserate some other place.

Why all this pessimism about crowds at this weeks prelim and the GF Baz? You might have a point about the prelim, could be a few hung over from the AFL GF but seriously if you can’t get up for your team in a preliminary final then you are not a football supporters asshole.

As for the WAFL grand final whilst it doesn’t exactly get my juices flowing seeing another Sub v SF or Claremont GF I think all true WAFL supporters should lap up the opportunity to watch a game of WAFL footy at Optus stadium and show the GF belongs there.

Will be a bloody long day for me since the reserves kick off first. Maybe I’ll wander over to the Camfield for a steak or try my luck at the casino and wander back for the league granny.

Ted’s post and especially the last point he made is spot on the mark. Could not have said it better. The average grand final attendance being just over 40,000 in the early 60’s. Climbing to 45,000 in the late 60’s. The average grand final crowd in the late 70’s to early 80’s was 47,000. The late 1980’s saw a dramatic decline and the early 90’s saw the average grand final crowd of 29,000. For the past 7 or 8 years the average has dropped further. ?

Bit of another blow to the WAFL Game this Sunday, the winning AFL Team will be heading into Forrest Place for a big public celebration with the Cup.

Will only be Melbourne or Doggies supporters there I would think. Once the AFL GF is over those neutral punters that went, will be over it, so wont make any difference. I’m heading down to Freo on Sunday to watch the Subi ressies then stay on to watch Claremont and South beat the living suitcase out of each other.

Bloke at my work is taking his kids in and he doesn’t support either club.

me too Senior. Looking forward to both games

Lets hope the rain holds off although the forecast is not promising with 80% chance of showers up to 5mm in the morning and afternoon. Not a lot of shelter down at Freo oval, love it on a fine day, great place to watch footy but little cover and the old stand is about 50m from the boundary!!
