I’m no movie buff but I’ve been around long enough to come up with a top ten so here goes. In no particular order.
1. Jaws - one of the all time classics.
2. Rocky - Sly definitely milked the Rocky brand to death but like Jaws is one of the greats. We’ve all been inspired by Rocky at some point including Leyton Hewitt, lol.
3. Mad Max - ahead of it’s time and launched one of the most successful careers in Hollywood for Mel Gibson. Cantalini wants his hand back. Lol
4. Star Wars - others at school probably saw it 3 or 4 times before I saw it but it was a jaw dropping cinema experience.
5. James Bond franchise. Roger Moore for me used to pack the cinemas out in the 70’s. Pure entertainment. Oh James! Daniel Craig in Casino Royale is probably my fav Bond movie.
6. Top Gun - a long awaited Top Gun 2 is due out but won’t go close to raking in what Top Gun original did. It wasn’t just Tom Cruise it had an All Star cast. Can’t see the new one coming close.
7. A Few Good Men - Tom, Jack, Kevin Bacon and Demi Moore. An all time classic. They just don’t make’m like that anymore.
8. Dirty Dancing - Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. No one puts baby in the corner. How many times has that line been used? Another classic.
9. The Man From Snowy River - Tom Burlinson, Jack Thompson, Kirk Douglas (playing two feuding brothers - can’t remember that happening before or since) and the adorable Sigrid Thornton. A cinema masterpiece that knocked the socks out of Hollywood though probably never got the true recognition it deserved.
10. Taken - Liam Neeson. I have a very unique set of skills acquired over a long period of time. If you let her go that will be the end of it. But if you don’t, I will find you, and I will kill you. Good luck. Lol luv it.
I know I know I didn’t put The Shawshank Redemption in my top ten. The Warden is the star in that one for me. I’ll pull you out of that one bunk Hilton and cast you down with the sodomites, you’ll think you’ve been fucked by a train… Absolute Classic!
