West Coast Eagles and East Perth Royal Eagles

Since the main draft is complete and eagles only need to draft 2 rookies presuming Newman is rookie listed. I have made up both teams. they arent perfect, have made some changes knowing that Simmo will change up the team somewhat, ive added Yeo and Ellis from trade period and added 1st 2 picks from draft today. sheed will play and im calling it now Karpany will vye for Josh Hills spot and his hunger will win him in a jersey. This is more to show what the East Perth team will look like. Looks pretty formidable. couldnt see west perth and kraks matching that and i couldnt see peel crabs i mean dockers matching that on experience/age of reserves. Anyone feel free to make up a peel team go for it

my eagles team 2014
waters glass bennell
schofield mckenzie hurn
gaff priddis yeo
darling kennedy masten
lecras mcgovern karpany
nicnat welli selwood
cox shuey sheed ellis

east perth royals
smith brown butler
wilson colledge brennan
rosa hutchings sheppard
cripps mcinnes tunbridge
main sinclair hill
lycett mcginnity newman
carter, barrass plus 2 rookies

Unbelievable. Let’s hope they have plenty of injuries.
The Peel side will also look very strong.

What a disgrace!!

And some deluded EP people think there won’t be much upheaval. HA.
It nearly destroyed Claremont back in 1999.
Their club will just become an AFL appendage.

mutts

WCE Royals will be at unbackable odds ie $1.01 for the 2014 flag already…

Both their League & Reserves would be favourites! What a mess…well done WAFC!!

I agree it’s very unfair, don’t forget to give the credit deserved to the short sighted WAFL presidents. I think the quickest way out of this mess is for East Perth to go undefeated for one or two years.

It reminds me of the “Westar League” and the way the “Peel experiment” was rammed through. The Puppets at WAFC got what they wanted without thinking it through. As long as they get their long lunches at the AFL and other perks who gives a toss about the WAFL??? I remember the Claremont alliance (1999?) , nearly had half the player group threaten to walk out which is why it only lasted 1 year.
Seriously, if you look at the East Perth "possible " side named above…how have no players of note not left East Perth…how’s their salary cap…how’s their points system in comparison to other “non-aligned” clubs??? Where is the balance??? Blind Freddy having sunk half a carton of Boag’s finest could still see the writing on the wall!!!
What an absolute joke!!! Can’t just blame the 7 WAFL club Presidents…they probably thought they could bluff…what about East Perth selling out??? Peel sold sold out, but they’ve always been a joke. 30 pieces of silver…count it whilst you’ve got it…WCE moving to Lathlain…work out who will be aligned in the future!!
NOw…where’s my beer?     :silly:

You are correct Royal, They should of allowed the Eagles their own club in the comp, Had the Dockers take over Peel and we would have a 10 team comp.

The Eagles got their way and got it their way with little work to do. By making them form a new club they would have to find volunteers, staff, form comittees and do what all other clubs must do.
But no we decide to give them a club with infrastructure in place and they get what they want and have to do nothing.
Bloody stupid it was.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I just don’t know what they thought was going to occur. Did East Perth do the wrong thing?, as a Royals supporter I think they did. Where Peel and EP the only clubs trying to become aligned? The answer to that is also no. Any interest for me in the WAFL has been extinguished, I will go mainly to see my friends and take an interest in our colts program.

We all know that other clubs were interested, but the question remains did they actually knock it back? Someone knows the answer but we will never know.
Did East Perth do the wrong thing? They have come out and said without doing it they can’t see much of a future for East perth which I found hard to believe. And this alignment will not be there forever as we all know. So not sure what they achieve out of it.
If I was an east Perth supporter I would be upset like you are, any success they have under this system will be widely accepted as not East Perth success. For their true supporters they know that deep down and any premiership would be tainted.
I know if West Perth had of done it I would be gone in a second without a thought about it.
For me now, Perth Derby’s have no meaning.
I am not sure how strong East Perth will be? time will tell. The clubs should of let the Eagles have their own side. But like you said hindsight is wonderful and no one was to know that clubs could be bought by the Eagles and Dockers.

it isn’t EP anymore. it is a takeover, period.

very hard for some EP people to accept. very sad 5 years coming up and yes any success is not real. how any EP person can think otherwise is astounding.

but each to their own

If WCE are offered their own team for the 2015 season they would take it in an instant. Nothing is stopping the WAFL presidents offering it to them and getting that ten team comp going with a similar setup to what the Crows will have in 2014. Problem is even the g7 presidents have things to hide and that is why the threats of forfeits and boycotts went quiet all of a sudden.

I may be a Lions fan but I do go to a few other teams functions with friends to help the clubs out. Have heard Raponi get in front of his flock at a function (was it a Les Fong thing?) and say the reason he was the only vocal g7 president was because he was the only president not to actively seek an alignment and Raitt especially would be a hypocrite if he was critical of EP\Peel. Then went to two other club functions were their presidents said the reason Raponi has been the most vocal is because he was the most upset after WCE told him WP were no chance because Joondalup is too far from Subiaco for rehab after games.

There is so much to this story that we don’t know and the thing that bugs me the most is none of the teams have really asked what their fans want.

Well one thing I do know for sure is that Raponi thing is a crock of Chit! not to sure about your source but you should ignore anything else this person tells you..

Also have to say that South weren’t at all interested in going back to that last shambles either - doesn’t work disaffects core players en-masse … wouldn’t mind having a gander at some of that information if it was official comments or actions

Some sensible contributions on here which is very unusual for this forum. I think we all know the WAFL is on deaths door, how many clubs flirted with the idea or pushed to be aligned who knows. Unfortunately my club was successful and has been taken over. We have been told it’s the only way to keep the club afloat and that other clubs will be gone within a few years. I think this may be half true probably not so fast but it sounds good to an angry mob. Give them their own teams if the option ever comes around again.

What’s always concerned me is isn’t it in the best interests of the AFL and WAFC that the WAFL survives? I mean what would happen if 2 or 3 clubs fold or the whole competition folds? If players can’t play, how will they get drafted hence money into or not into the WAFL system. The WAFL provides a pathway and without that what happens? Jobs would be gone including at the joke of a WAFC. East Perth might survive but if the competition falls in a hole what will be the point. Purely a I’ll look after my own backyard and don’t give a crap about my neighbours decision. Just my view.

East Perth Eagles

Still looks like an East Perth jumper plastered with a giant Grogan that has eyes & a beak George!!!
