Horrible effort considering what may have been on the table test cricket-wise for some players
Bancroft is a walking wicket for any decent bowler but you can’t just blame him for this one sadly enough
A really poor way to start a season at home and becoming a common occurrence now to just subside so easily and quickly
And to rub some salt in Stobo got into us with a match winning batting partnership
There’s some spotlight on this team
Lol BH, bit of a difference between saying ‘calling for Whiteman and Bancroft to open for Aust’ and saying ‘it will be interesting to see if Whiteman and Bancroft can put their best foot forward for the Aust opening position’…but agree both boys are cooked…well n truly
Like I said it would be nice to see a WA opener in the first test at Optus…definitely not gonna happen…actually it would unsurprising to see no WA representative in the test team for Optus…especially after that WA showing…totally insipid and soft…Hadley, Hatcher, and Green, like you say BH, 3rd XI level at best
Very disappointing. It was a tricky pitch for sure but young Saltzmann showed that runs could be scored out there if the batsmen applied themselves. Just a rinse and repeat of last year when the bowlers pretty much carried the team. Ironical that Paris with a dodgy hamstring batting at 11 managed to score more than most of the top order batsmen. The time is coming where some of these guys with big reputations need to be accountable for their continued poor performances and if they cant score some runs, move aside and get a young player in
Playing 5 batsmen and a keeper at 6, while a very competent keeper opens, with 2 spinners on the opening wicket of the season is a monumental failure by Voges!
yeah I thought that was very strange playing 2 spinners on a green top. Then again so did NSW. WA’s strategy was exposed when Paris broke down and they could have done with that extra pace bowler when Lyon and Co added the 50 runs that were decisive in the game. WA would have had a good chance to chase 170 even on that pitch
They got an extra 50 0r so in the first innings because Green could only bowl 4 overs. Big F up playing Paris, Green and 2 spinners as bowling options. Green obviously plays but Beardman and or Jackson should’ve played and Kritchell should’ve been the extra batter.
Hopefully with the availability of the likes of Marsh, Hardie, Connolly, Inglis etc soon these things like the extra batting & bowling strength can be rectified.
Not sure how many more goes the likes of Bancroft, Whiteman, Goodwin & Curtis get but with the above all fit and available plus young guys like Fanning, Wyllie, Wasley etc they would want to score big runs if they want to stay in!
Wyllie has had too many chances and never took them. Curtis had a great game with the gloves
@Beasley_Hutton how many games has Curtis payed for WA.How old is he?
Being a keeper is always a wait for the encumbent to break fingers or applies for the age pension.
25-26 and this is his first season with a contract. Scored a 100 lastye ar
I like Curtis being a former Swans player but outside of the 1 century he has scored his other scores have been ordinary.
First class record is 10 games, 15 innings, 303 runs, 1 x 100, 0 x 50, Ave- 21.64.
Coming in at 6 with an average of 21.64…sheesh!
But he is our best keeper when Inglis is unavailable.
What is the story with Richo? Is he still recouperating from his latest injury. And how long before he is back.A test berth beckons.
there is a solid echo to what is happening to the national team succession-wise
2 or 3 years ago should have seen a purposeful regeneration plan
not saying it should have been a top to bottom job
but we are seeing a gap now in good to bad performances
very much appears to be a closed shop of selections
and yes Bancroft does need to be dropped along with a couple of others
If Bancroft is playing it should be as keeper so we can play another bat. IMO fanning is not the answer and if he opened then we also wouldnt have the left/right combination. With the aussie guys away it leaves quite a dearth as there doesnt seem to be too much coming through the ranks in the Premier ranks. Goodwin is very inconsistent and Wylie has gone by the wayside. Kritchell can bowl if required so id prefer him than Curtis at the minute or Curtis keeps and opens in place of Bancroft. Voges wouldnt want another 3 and out season like last year.
Good to see Beardman back playing…talented sort with a bit of zip…WA seems to have some decent bowling depth…pity not so in the batting. Can’t see Marsh playing tests, so it will be good having Marsh, Connolly, Inglis and Hardie available to offer some top 6 options for WA, and give Cartwrightsome help…might encourage the likes of Bancroft, Whiteman, Curtis and Goodwin to score some runs.
NSW now smashing our bowlers all over the WACA.
They are going to be chasing plenty underlights at this rate!
With WA’s continual poor form there should be no one outside of Green even discussed for national duties upcoming!
Gee Agar again with his nude nuts showing up the rest of the bowling attack as pus.
And he even manages to take a catch to help Albert Einstein get rid of the cheat. How is this guy even playing?
A very much underrated bowler I reckon. No wickets but must have bowled well.
7/278 so a bit to chase for the WA boys.Six overs to bowl.Could be a 300 +chase.
