Pretty much Mike played his best footy in German’s first year when we were hit by injuries. Little bloke with a big heart. I think he won Perth colts f&b back in the day. Came through Belmont juniors from memory. Indigenous background.

I think it’s been fully resurfaced BH. We haven’t played there yet this season, will be in a fortnight but recall commenting on a game early in the season how good it looked on tv. Was the best I’ve seen it. Hopefully means they got rid of Malthouses’ mud and installed drainage. Good test this weekend.
Yes the resurface has been a huge improvement, but given the weather forecast for lots of rain and the genius WAFC deciding to fixture 2 games on the same weekend at Leedo, the ground might be pretty chopped up after tonights Ferals v Toasters game, so the surface for the Su v SD game could be pretty average. Thats 6 games over one and a half days, no recovery time at all.
I always find it interesting that a Swans person would criticise any other WAFL venue given Basso’s flood plain mud base, any slight shower up there and it’s welly boots time.

Probably because unlike the likes of Leederville, Lathlain, Fremantle, EF, Joondalup, Rushton, Claremont etc Bassendean Oval has had zero dollars spent on it from any of the following - State Gov, Fed Gov, WAFC, AFL, WCE and or Fremantle!
Your club or council did a fair bit of work on Basso in the off season BH but yes you have that water table underneath being not far from the Swan River. Had a chat to JGM a couple of weeks ago he said the pocket in front of the McDonald’s stand was the worst, slightest bit of rain and it’s slush. Interchange area too absolute shite.
One cannot expect to win a football game with such poor skills - kicking, handballing. What do the players do at training? Defenders, if you cannot mark, FIST THE BALL - you’re taught that in U10s. We were killed in the air today.
And today we saw the return of a problem that has blighted SD for years - a dominate tap ruckman - like Germs and Morris - but no top rover to take advantage of primary use. But well done to Impey for his around the ground effort.
Despite not knowing how we got so close, I was impressed in the young men’s performances. Well done to Cummings on debut, while Hewitt, Loftus, Hinchcliffe, and Ernst flashed in and out. Continue playing the young guys…
Gee SH. I thought your guys were pretty good today in difficult conditions and missing several first choice players. The result could have gone either way and IMO, you have a lot of good young blokes to work with going forward.
In the third quarter, Tester had a free kick and under no pressure passed to a teammate on their own about 20m from him. The ball went over the SD player’s head by about 2 metres and landed on the chest of a free Subi. player who raced forward and a goal resulted. Etc., etc., etc.. There is no system in Swans’ game plain compared with Subi’s yesterday, thus the long kick and hope into the forward line that did not work until the last three minutes when Collins when moved forward took two strong marks. Yes, we got close - and my earlier comments might also sound disingenuous to Subi’s effort that I thought did not reflect just a four-point advantage, but we have systemic issues at the club and getting close shouldn’t be reliant on the young blokes doing what young men do - bust their guts week after week like what Cummings and Cotellessa did yesterday. A non-existent game plain wastes our talent in the seconds and thirds.
SH much has been mentioned of our poor coaching and development record of recent times.
I have just done a few rough calculations of the record of our 3 coaches since the current board/administration has been in place-
Harding- 68 wins, 78 losses = 46.6%
Pickering- 33 wins, 48 losses = 40.74%
Pruyn- 29 wins, 39 losses = 42.6%
What other organisation on the planet would accept these inept success rates?
SH,I can’t honestly account for what Swans’s Game plan is every week.
But from my angle when you played Perth,there seemed to be a belief in what you were doing in the 2nd Half would work.
And it did and they were over the moon when you kicked the Sealer!
It may have been a changed game plan,but it succeeded in bringing a Top 5 side down!
I don’t know what’s gone on with the Brain’s trust since,but for some reason,whatever game plan that had been put in place,hadn’t succeeded for 3 games.

91.3 boys seem to have a lot of love for your coach.
They rarely see Swans play DD! They think he is a nice guy but they are probably happy he is putting up such lame results in turn benefitting their own clubs! If any of Monaghan (Landsmeer’s EF), McQueen (Micale’s EP), Stone (Mitsi’s P) or White (Grubelich’s SF) were performing this poorly they would be under the microscope big time! Pruyn has had a pie ride with the local WAFL media!
I take it your Board shouldn’t be too happy to carry on like this,……..surely not?!
