This pathetic Aussie batting line up looking all at sea against the Poms world class fast bowlers as I predicted.
How on earth is Khawaja still playing Test Cricket, he is genuinely afraid of this bowling attack!
Almost a replay of Day 1 V India last season
Funny how Head and Green have looked to score without playing rash shots and the batting looks a little easier. FFS Marnus has done that all shield
season and looked the goods again yet just tried to survive today.
I saw a graphic today, and the poms bowlers are averaging about 5 km per hour faster than the aussie bowlers
172 is a very competitive score against our batting line-up. Chance here for Green to stamp himself.
Spoke too soon. FMD
canāt recall a 19 wicket day in an ashes game
might have happened at some point
but yeah what a disastrous collapse
the wicket was lively but I donāt think it was that bad
all the batsmen in the game so far have played poor shots
as predicted our batsmen will struggle in this series
Just when you think our batting couldnt get any worse you have to watch the Head & Carey dismissals.
Village cricket stuff!
You can only laughā¦both sides are crap at toughing anything outā¦not sure you could call Englandās bowling attack world class BHā¦it is only against that pathetic Aust batting line up you always pass comment on.
Looks like Boland might be the top scorer in this gameā¦pity it was with the ball and not the bat.
England will pummel Australia in their 2nd innings tomorrow Freeze.
There is no chance Starc is taking another 7 for.
I probably should have had more $ on that England 5-0 series win but its looking the goods so far!
Mate if Stokes can take a 5 forā¦and he was bowling medium mediocrityā¦one can only hope I guessā¦pity the Aust batsmen were returning the favour with an abysmal level of mediocrity themselves.
Hopefully Scotty B can back up his half century in the 1st innings, with a 7 for in the 2nd inningsā¦atleast both sides bowling attacks canāt plead tirednessā¦
This sort of hiding has been building for a while now.
Wall papered over the cracks to eek out soft wins against minnows but the complete lack of preparation for an Ashes series which should have started straight after the last one in England in 2023 is coming home to roost and those in charge have to shoulder the responsibility.
Warner & Khawaja were finished years ago but allowed to play on until they call time themselves.
Heres a chance for McDonald & Bailey to finally make a decision themselves without Cummins and finally drop Khawaja!
Tom Moody on radio said
(Its 30% wicket and 70%,nerves)
By the batsman.
Great response by the poms with the ball
After losing their last 5 wickets for 12 runs
Understand Uzzie has a back spasm.after the lunch break.
Copped a brute of a delivery.Probably his last test for Australia.
With hotel rooms costing $1000 over this weekend. And 20,000 English fans here. Will be hoping this match makes it to day 4.
I reckon if Alan Border was captain today he would have said to Khawaja you leave this field and you can pack your bags. Youāve just played your last test match. But he will be defended by Smith, Ronald McDonald and Postman Pat.
Moody tore Khawaja a new asshole on ABC radio today.
And The West Australian absolutely scraping the egg off their faces after doing everything possible to question Englandās preparation since the day they arrived. Hope you didnāt buy a day 3 ticket BH.
Hes been a great player for Australia
Well past his peak of performance
Its hard to break the Ronald McDonald +Cummins boys club ,mentality.
Its invite only into the baggy green
If the English batsman get going .Will will get flogged in this ashes.
Shocking day of alleged test cricket.
Some very good bowling from the Aussies aided by the Poms suicidal way of attacking as per Bazball. Starc was outstanding with 7.
Aussie batting was abysmal. But in saying that I have to give credit to the Poms early bowling. Wood, Archer and Scarse wete superb. Great line and length. Great pace
But to praise Stokes so much is an embarrasment. He bowled garbage and the Aussie batsmen fell for it.
A day where once again the number of overs bowled was well short of what is required at test level.
A real investigation into Australian cricket is needed.
After watching that today I think its going to be a brutal summer for Australian Batsmen. Might be lots of busted fingers and concussion subs. Just for sheer pace I havent seen anything like that since the Halcyon days of the Windies quicks in the 80s and 90s. I know they got thrashed in the first test last year but they only really had Bumrah to contend with and he ran out of gas eventually. This England team has 4 express bowlers plus Stokes and Tongue waiting in the wings. Shambolic batting performance by Australia all the same.
When are they going to realise that Cam Green is not the golden haired wonder boy of Australian cricket and has to earn his place in the team. Beau Webster must play in the 2nd test.
Uzzie is cooked, Marnus went back to his old scoreless habits. I know they were facing elite bowling but there was no intent in running between the wickets so this allowed the English bowlers to dictate terms. Starc was fantastic. Sad to say Boland was treated with contempt by the English batsmen, Doggett made a promising debut. Weatherald got a good ball.
Pitch should flatten out tomorrow and I expect England to bat all day and be 300+ ahead by stumps.
Anchor
Stokes bowls like Sir Ian Botham
He intises batsman into bad shots, like Carey today.
Just short of a lenght. Balls close to the body.Batsman doesnāt know if he wants to cut, pull or drive the ball.
I agree, I said he bowls garbage, but I meant shit. Seriously the batsmen should be ashamed of their lack of resolve.
