2025

Thanks for the summary JL , looks like a more competitive effort on paper than last week. How did Michael Braut go after being out for a year?

I didn’t notice Braut at all. Apparently he was out there at some stage. Hopefully not injured again.

Good weekend for subi around the afl though. This team would be fun to watch:

Collard, Ryan, tholstrop
Brockman, georgiades, champion
Dewar, Erasmus, Hansen jnr
Clark, Miller, Foley
Savigni, Kenterfield, mullane

Followers: new guy, Johnson, Taj,
Interchange: Mayo, Giro, ?, ?

I just had a look at the club’s new website. Pretty impressive and someone has done a great job with the upgraded design.

JL that side might beat peel tomorrow…maybe

Have to confess, I went to the Peel game today. Wanted to see the oval and the club rooms after news on sport FM that the memorabilia has been taken down.

I can report that ATM the ground looks a mess because the lights are a way off being finished. Night games postponed for a while now.
The playing field looks excellent. The team was undersized against Peel. Men against boys. We did have some colts but Peel walked out of stoppages with ease. They are an impressive wafl team, for sure.
The club rooms are completely bare. Including the stairs. Feels cold, like the club is moving out. Apparently they want to lease out the venue more and they need the walls bare to do that. Not sure I understand that completely. Some memorabilia will be shown on the screens.I presume instead of the afl games they usually show.
This seems a big loss to me. The sense of a shared history, shared great players, shared memories made the club what it was.
Maybe things will be better next week.

Ouch, it’s going to be a long year.

Removing the memorabilia is madness to me. I love to grab a pint and wander the room reminiscing of my many years watching the Lions. I heard that snob Capes on the radio pretty much saying how irrelevant the supporters my age are. Can’t argue with that I guess but it gives me a hollow feeling. I’d like to get back all the member badges dating back to the 50’s my parents donated.

Maybe they’ll put some back up on the stairs. I heard someone say that. Surely a few pictures can’t be that much trouble.

Didn’t east freo have a crisis over memorabilia forced on them. We seem to be giving ourselves one.
