Subi v FART

Greg and adam to come, plus yarren decent ressies game. Is kyle the man?

Problem with Hancock?

Really good win by Subi away against a strong AFL representation for Peel.

Terrific effort by the boys. The difference in height was noticeable especially in the ruck with Dela rucking for the first 15 mins of each qtr to be replaced by Clanger. The chunder had Zac Clarke and Hannath but I thought our guys lost the taps but won more possession around the ground than those two streaks of chit. I thought we tried hard in the first half and probably had more inside 50’s but the likes of Silvani and co repelled far too often. Best players in the first half for mine were Dela, Horse, Lockyer, Kitch and Twomey. Our effort in the third increased dramatically with a five goal to one third qtr. Halligan was fantastic and a goal he kicked from about 40 meters into the wind really set us up. For once, I also the thought the umpies give us a pretty good run and we seemed to get the benefit of the whistle. Last qtr was outstanding defence. FART pushed hard but we withstood the challenge. It was at this point of the game I thought without Bennell who was very good, Silvani and maybe De Boer we would have ran away with it. Hancock hurt his knee and they were calling for a stretcher but fortunately he managed to walk off into the rooms himself. I was at the race after the game when the boys came off and he was saying to the others that he was ok. He might have a low grade strain with a bit of luck. Overall it was a brilliant performance against a team of fulltime footballers. Best imo was Horse, Dela, Halligan, Lockyer, Kitch and a special mention to Hamish Shepherd. I think he’s going to be very good for us and presented up, took some strong marks and really added something.

Well done subi, shove it up the purple scum.

Just a knock to the knee, he said it’s just bruised

that’s good news outer as he’s important to us. get back the cock, brought, stevo, rhysy waters and we should be ok. it was very noticeable today the difference with horse having a full preseason. he was outstanding getting the contested footy and kitch wasn’t far behind

Did inaccuracy cost them the match?

It didn’t help
I’d say Bootsma actually cost them the match, Hooligan gave him a bath rubber ducky and all.

Well we should all look forward to season 2017 and hope the well dries up at $ubi, they have it in the bag already IMHO.

not so sure about that leedy…our attack is a bit of a worry…we had 65 inside 50’s to 49 and only had about the same scoring shots. our mids are terrific and defense really good but our front half needs some work. plus look at other results today and I think its going to be a really close season.

That was a really good win. I also was impressed with Shepheard, even when he was out on his feet in the 4th he still pushed hard & that 4th qtr big pack mark was sensational. He is a big unit & will only get better with more fitness. The best part of my day was as I was coming through the gate this total farkwit Dockers fan in front of me was having a sook about paying 15 bucks to watch this shit. I saw him again after the game & reminded him he should’ve stayed home & saved his precious $15

Well he saw a good game of footy didn’t he Dags, Ive heard knob heads like that big noting and piping up coz they haven’t been to a WAFL match in 20+ years and that it lacks this and it lacks that !!!

Yeah they shit me to tears mate but unfortunately there are a lot of them

Why on earth did he bother,DG?

What would he pay on an individual basis to go to 1 AFL game in town

How was Ben Sokol"s performance? Had 6 possessions.

Exactly Grassy. Sokol was quiet as his stats suggest but there were no easy match ups out there yesterday Dwert…apart from bootsma

A great game of WAFL footy … or was it AFL footy … never mind.
I didn’t expect to get within 30 points when you looked at the Freo list.
And the first half indicated that. Clarke & Hannath totally dominated the tapouts 74 to 19 and their mids fed off that in the first half. Bennell is one of the most skilled players I’ve seen for a while, some of his efforts were sensational, reading off the pack and equally good both sides, will be a massive attacking asset to the Dorks if he stays fit, Clarke and Hannath were very good at bouncedowns but were beaten around the ground by Clang and Dela.

Freo’s height and body size advantage was significant especially when you see our two key defenders in Lockyer & Jackson both giving away 10+ cms and several Kg’s to their opponents. Kitchen, Horse, Halligan, Lockyer & Dela tried manfully in the first half and we managed to get within 3 goals at the Half, despite Freo getting 75% of their goals off our turnovers.

Schoey must have spoken some magic spell at halftime as the third quarter was a sensational effort, the boys ran themselves into the ground in a 5 goal to 1 effort, we continued to get smashed at the taps but Kitchen, Phez, Robbo, Horse & co were roving to them and outworked their opponents plus we had Halligan up forward giving Bootsma an absolute bath. Hamish Shepheard looks a very likely type, big body but quick and agile for his size plus takes a good contested mark, he will be much better for what was his first run with the team. Kitchen was sensational at the clearences and Horse was so precise with his disposal, Kitch ended up with 32 touches and Horse 30. The big change was that the boys were going the spoil on every occasion rather than trying to outmark their much bigger opponets and it allowed our smalls to take control front & centre. At the 3/4 time huddle the boys looked gassed but Kitch in particular along with Horse responded by geeing the boys up for one more effort. Schoey asked for smart footy as they expected Freo to outrun us in the last being fulltime pro’s. They boys did that and slowed the game down significantly especially after Hancock went down with a knock to the knee in the first few minutes of the last leaving us 1 rotation short on the bench. The boys guts it out wonderfully well to win by 8 points. Kitchen bog for me, closely followed by Halligan, Horse, Lockyer & Dela.

The old saying, “a champion team will beat a team of champions” certainly applied today and that’s an issue for both WART & FART with players playing for themselves or playing to prevent injury. The FART players that really pitched in were Bennel while he was on the ground, Wellar, Clarke, Hannath, Silvani, DeBoer & to a lesser extent Blakely who got a fair bit of the footy but his disposal was quite poor on many occasions.

Good summary there Senior. That’s the thing I like about our ruck combo they don’t win a lot of taps but are so mobile & damaging around the ground & thrive on the greater work load

Losing a few didn’t help Subi’s cause, but there were enough Hardheads in that TEAM,who were battle hardened and who knew what to do,when the Crunch came to WIN.

Can we have some of that?Nup?Gotta do it ourselves!
