Subi v FART

I had an interesting chat with a Subi bloke at the game and he was astounded the Peel supporters were cheering at every goal as though it was actually Peel players doing the job. Gotta admit I too found it extraordinary that blokes who weren’t Peel but Freo players were getting their support. It’s weird and a bit sad for mine.

Cockburn Crabs supporters.

Peter must gave doubled back.

Oops.

Bad case of Jimmy Two Times there.

Sorry Jimmy.

BC – I think it depends a little bit on the club which has the alignment; it went down very badly at Claremont, and, to a large extent at SF: EP is split between the membership and the board; and, as for Peel, one could understand the alignment having some support given the club’s history.

Wrst Coast promised Claremont greater membership numbers, but did they deliver?

38 I heard Brad Hardie once say.38?

BC the reason they were cheering was that they were all in Freo colours, so happy to cheer for their players. I reckon there may have been 10 or 15 people in Peel colours if that, all supporting the 4 peel players that were grudgingly given a gig.

Good summary there Senior. That’s the thing I like about our ruck combo they don’t win a lot of taps but are so mobile & damaging around the ground & thrive on the greater work load

Like I said in the summary, there was some smart but simple changes made at halftime, primarily the strong focus on negating their massive marking advantage by our boys spoiling at every opportunity to bring the ball to ground where our smalls were doing much better and slowing the game right down in the last when our guys were gassed. Perhaps in the end they were a bit top heavy, plus like East eagles when the going gets tough and the real pressure goes on, they don’t have that fanatasism that real wafl clubs have. Claremont showed that on Saturday and WP and Su showed that in those 2 GF’s against WART.

Essentially the Chunder faithfull were supporting blokes who don’t want to be there. if they’re playing for FART it means they’re not playing for Freo…so where’s the commitment, passion and will to win for your club?

What happened to Bennell?

what happened to him? other than playing 15 minutes of each quarter, picking up 23 possessions, kicking 4 goals and playing pretty well bugger all from what I saw.

The Peel league team played in the reserves and as expected they beat Subi because those blokes were playing for the Jumper, big difference.

Bennell is out for up to 4 weeks with a recurrence of the calf injury, must have been when he and Hancock tangled legs early in the last qtr, Hancock got a bad knock to the knee but apparently no structural damage at this stage. I would think he would still go off for a scan to make sure.

Report on the radio that Lyons is “angry” about Bennells injury … why angry? He would be understandably disappointed that the boy is injured especially after such a great game. Is lyons angry at Subi, at Hancock at the WAFL at the umpires??? I don’t get it, maybe he’s so angry he’ll force a change in the rules that restricts body contact between WAFL and AFL listed players.

it’s a bit of a mystery SS. he played right up to the end and i saw him walking off the ground after the game talking to Michael Barlow and he wasn’t limping or have ice on his calf…so buggered if I know.

You sure it was him you were looking at BC? I could’ve sworn I saw him on the boundary line boots off with about 5 min remaining thinking to myself why the fk is he on the bench at this stage when they need him, he must be injured

Lyon said he was “disappointed” not angry.I am guessing that that report came from 6PR.
He was disappointed that Bennell has a calf muscle injury.

you could be right DG…I was focussing on the play in the last 5 minutes and didn’t really take too much notice of their bench. i just saw him walking with boots in hand after the siren so maybe he’d pulled the pin an bit earlier.

I’m told Bennell’s calf injury happened off the field, it was after the game and he was allegedly “relaxing” with a few of the Mandurah locals, someone dropped the rolled up 50 and he over extended his calf bending down to pick it up.

You’re unbelievable.

See you on that deck chair,Sunday April 10.
