He is still only early 20s mate, most batsmen dont hit their straps until mid 20s-early 30s.
His innings the other night in the one dayer showed good maturity when a few of his more experienced team mates had brain fades yet again.
Give him time.
Totally agree BHâŚWyllie early success probably has come back to bite himâŚnot many 18 tr olds score FC 100âsâŚHoogenboezem canât even get a gig at SAâŚso thatâs how tough it is playing ShieldâŚhow Mackenzie Harvey gets a gig before him, is as headscratching as how Whiteman still gets a gig despite 2 years of mediocrityâŚ
Heâs still got 1 year after this left in his WA Contract.
Will he follow that through or allow the younger players to come through?
He may as well play his 3 years in County Cricket and enjoy some down time between those Seasons?
We are not exactly flushed with young quality batsmen at the minute.
On the WA playing list only Connolly, Wyllie, Goodwin, Fanning & Corey Wasley are the only batsmen under mid 20s. Simon Budge like Curtis is a wicketkeeper/batsman.
Will Malajczuk was our (WA) only member of the recent Under 19 World Cup team, he is a left hand batsman & right arm off spinner.
limp performance
likewise if not worse captaincy
the coach that checked out months ago
that team isnât interested in the caper
Could have been a whole lot worse.
I thought the Vics might be 3 - 400+ by Stumps.

I think with Voges leaving it looks like he will just roll out the old firm who have done so well for him over his time in the chair.
Canât see Whiteman playing again after this season, WA donât tend to play overseas players.
The big question will be what happens with Bancroft i think, does he get moved on or is he held onto to help the young bats named above develop.
Bancroft might be invited to Pre-Season Training by the new Coaching Staff on a wait and see basis,âŚ.
Whiteman and Cartwright no thanks. I think Bancroft still has value as a Captain and mentor to the young players. He captains a county side in the UK
Chasing 426. A big task.3/153.
Fanning at the moment 93no and Wylie 12 no.
Is Joel Curtis the WA keeper? If so is he the best after Inglis?
He will be there for a while if so because I donât see Inglis being available for much of the cricket season(s) from here in.He will be a tag along for the Test squad.
AHHH Fanning out for 99.Bummer.
Curtis has been the WA wicketkeeper for virtually 2 - 3 seasons now! ![]()
5 - 200
Getting nervous here.
If the Vics have a choice, they should enforce the follow on and not muck about, getting the 2nd lot of 10 Wickets.
another crap batting performance by WA being bowled out for 220 odd. Vics batting which makes sense, bat for a couple of sessions get the lead back to 400 and then leave 4 sessions to roll WA
They wont even need 4 sessions to roll this inept WA batting line up!
More like 4 hoursâŚlolâŚbut hey one can only hope.
Vic wicketkeeper Sam Harper has just scored his second century for the match at the WACA.
Consider this he had only scored 3 100âs in his 11 season first class career before this match.
Will Sutherland doubled his amount of first class centuries in the first dig as well!
Whatever the downside of our Cricket, watching Sam Harper in a rich vein of form us well worth the price of Admission.
Wish I saw his whole innings at the Dome v Stars!
POW!

Declaration canât be too far off!
Theyâve got enough of a lead, even if this Wicket was a Faisalabad Road for Day 4.
They should have us 4 or 5 down by Stumps!
