have to say that was a fitting end to what has been a poor season
it would have taken only one batsman to just knuckle down for less than an hour
and eke out just over 30
that would have seen a fourth straight final
there needs to be some harsh calls on players
such as Bancroft who sat out over more than 20 overs and made 49 in two goes
but there’s more who need spells in grade cricket to ignite them again
time to blood the kids full on
last place geez
talk about crap
What about the shambles as to who has qualified to play South Australia.
Victoria finished with four wins, but Qld three.
Yet QLD get to play SA in the final.
Having bonus points takes over from actual games won.
work that out.
Really a raffle for the final spot, 34 runs was the difference between WA finishing 2nd or last. SA have been the stand out team this year, everyone else was pretty crap. if Queensland win the Shield it will be highway robbery really. Uzzie seems to have got on the wrong side of their management because he missed the last game with a " hamstring issue" and went to the Grand Prix instead. Wonder if he’ll get picked for the final?

I am not sure it would just be the management either. Ireckon a few players might just Poff as well.
How can QLD be playing!!! Stupidity at it’s best. But, it is CA after all.
34 runs that , really , should have been put up by some of the more well paid squad members
far too many meek dismissals and on too many occasions though this year
eventually a refresh will occur but given the drastic drop off something has to snap
time for a look at Hoogenboezem up top
might have to get some specialist coaching into Curtis before he loses confidence & touch
Goodwin needs some tough coaching as does Fanning they’re getting good starts
it’s the batting we’ve got issues there
I wonder if Konstas has been a bit of a decoy all along? Young Will Salzmann gets promoted to open, and scores a well made 60 odd…batted well v WA in game 1 a few weeks back…looks like he knows where his middle stump is atleast…obviously only early days, but definitely showing some promise…
Thinking about the fast bowling pecking order, with Cummins out of the 1st test and possibly the 2nd as well, who is the next cab off the rank after Starc, Hazlewood and Boland? Abbott has been hanging around the squad so that would suggest that he would go in if any of the main men were injured. In the Shield, Doggett and Fergus O’Neill have put their hands up with good performances. There is also Meredith from Tasmania, Hatcher from NSW and even Matt Kelly from WA who has taken 20 wickets this season, anyone else in the frame do you think?
Abbott is 33 Mike. I would rather they go with a much younger prospect.
I know that Boland is 36, but has shown and proved he is in the class required to play a big part at test level.
Beardmann!!!
that was a pretty strange approach to what was a reasonably generous declaration - we had enough overs to get that target
there are less overs available in the Marsh Cup and for worse run chases
and they just wafted through it and nearly died anyway
getting to the stage where a fresh start is required across the organisation
Neser will always be in the conversation mikeh…i wish O’Neill was 5 - 10 km faster…though on a challenging pitch, speed isnt always the answer…plus O’Neill is a decent bat for a bowler…
There is a fascination with pace here but from memory Vernon Philander from SA wasnt overly quick but boy he was a handful for Test batsmen especially in the right conditions!
Reading where Mitch Starc was firing onall eight cylinders today.Costly, but bowled with venom all day.Had one over that cost 22.But that is par for course for Starc. Can be costly, but his pace will really worry the Poms.
Looking at the bowling in the WA V QLD game. it appears that Green has been restricted to a certain number of overs, or he has sustained an injury. He has bowled eight and has been on that number for a long time.
Another very ordinary day for WA continuing on the status quo of the last season and a half.
QLD just dominated our bowlers from the get go with my Ashes smokey Renshaw posting an impressive 100 with support from Marnus, Hearne, Neser & co.
As for WAs bowlers and fielding the less said the better!
As I said on the other thread BH, I can’t understand why they put Queensland in to bat. Hot day, flat pitch, perfect batting conditions. Must be a real lack of confidence in the batsmen or just muddled thinking. Either way Queensland now in control of the game
Massive day tomorrow now
had them 5 for just over 200
then just let them wriggle away too easily again
some big calls looming fast with these sorts of performances
They made 390, added I think around, 130 today, yet Green doesn’t bowl!!!
Astounding.
Good to see Bancroft following up from last game with another 50 in this game.
As for his opening partner, I think the tap on the shoulder should be acted on Friday!
Yeah not a good look for the test if Green bowls only 8 overs…though WA did have, Gannon, Kelly, Hardie and Rocchiccioli as bowlers, so no different to Aust with Starc, Hazelwood, Boland and Lyon…Green will be bowler number 5 in the pecking order. Good to see Green scoring at a nice clip as well…wish he did that more often from the off when he bats.
I reckon if WA lose, then that could well happen mate…though Voges is one loyal customer…and the skipper did play a part in Voges Shield 3peat coaching success…
