Sheffield Shield

Sheesh that last over of the day sums up WA to a tee currently - clueless!
Inglis dropped off the 3rd last ball of the day then plays a loose cut shot and is snaffled by Renshaw the very next ball.
That is why we are currently last the only state not to win a game this year following on from the wooden spoon last year!
Voges might have some credits in the bank but they are fast eroding!

just another boring waste of batting time
one player spent 30 overs up on himself
and then just lamely gave away his wicket
now they may as well bat for an hour declare behind
and try to somehow get a result over what is left
this is a carcass barely hanging on in games

They taken some wickets today after rightly declaring early
255 so far to chase and that will be a test even if they take the last two for nothing tomorrow
but yes a better day in the field for sure

Another inept WA batting collapse currently happening at the WACA.
Seriously some of the shot selections are mind boggling and by experienced International cricketers!

something is wrong with WA cricket. That was a really strong team and they would have chased that total down with ease 2 years ago. Very poor from Inglis, he has really done SFA in all formats this season and is lucky to still be in the Australian team set up. The WA bowlers who have carried the team all season are now left with the unlikely task of pulling off a miracle win or holding out for a draw which is little help to them anyway
Another wooden spoon this year may see Voges feel some serious heat, Victoria are now the standard setters in interstate cricket and most of the other states have left WA in the shade.

Well there you go. When all seemed lost the Roch stepped up along with Gannon. Showed the batsmen what a bit of grit and determination can do. Has rescued WAs season from the brink

Thank god for Corey Roc Mike, 5 for with the ball and then a cameo with Gannon for the last wicket when the Internationals all gave their wicket away far too easily in the middle order.

when I tuned in earlier in the day I had thoughts the wicket was a minefield
the scoring rate was just shit poor yet again
the top two have taken 480 balls to plod out 219 runs in both innings
480 balls - 80 overs - nearly a whole day for just 219
that’s just ridiculous and is what is placing so much pressure on everyone else to get a move on
a paper over win that doesn’t mean much more than getting this lot off the bottom

Thank fudge for the Roch…took 4/1 with the ball, late yesterday to get WA back in the game…and then won the game with the bat at the death today…geez WA tried their best to get Qld over the line. Some brain dead shot selection, by some internationally experienced players…kudos to the WA bowlers for holding their nerve with the bat…and getting WA across the line…

Man of the match without doubt BH. I think Corey will be an international before too much longer. He certainly has the skill set and the temperament. Kudos to Gannon and also Kelly who assisted when all seemed lost when they lost Inglis
WA are lucky that Victoria are runaway leaders on the top of the table so the gap between the other teams is not great but this’ get out of jail" win shouldnt mask the batting issues that need to be resolved, poor scoring rates and collapses which have been all too frequent this season

Looked like Corey Roc gave a bit of a fist pump towards the changeroom after scoring the winning runs, probably aimed at his batsmen as if to say look how easy it is when you play each ball on its merit!

Bit hard on the batsmen BH. Some outstanding catches to dismiss a few and Inglis and Bancroft got grubbers. Connolly and Hardie threw it away. It was a really great four days of cricket, one of the best I’ve seen in a while. QLD on top probably for most of that game and then Roc four wickets in two overs turned the game on its head. Cartwright today getting hit on the head twice and body plenty more just amazing courage. Played on the old test wicket which got tricky over the four days. That Indian umpire we had for this game was outstanding. Wow, incredible to go from last to third with just one win. Tight comp apart from the Vics.

@mikeh , re Englis, only my thoughts, but I reckon that he has been stuck in circus cricket mode. When was the ladt time he played serious red ball?

Gutsy win by the Sand Gropers. Rocciccholi saved the day with his knock. He has been good for late runs on quite a few occassions.
And with his bowling, he must be getting close to haveing a run at test level.

True, his last red ball game was in the WINDIES I think in July. That was his first shield game I think

So Voges is pulling up stumps at the end of the 25/26 season…probably jumping before getting pushed…especially if WA go back to back winning the spoon

Hes got a pretty good CV though Freezin, A 3 peat Sheffield Shield , 4 one day cups in 6 years and a couple of titles with the Scorchers.
Would put him in demand for Franchise cricket which is where the money is these days, lets face it.
Wonder who is in the frame to replace him? Maybe they could have a go for Chris Rogers who is doing wonders for the Vics this year. Although its been a fair while since he has resided in WA.

Reckon Rogers is on a good thing with Victoria mate…got some good young talent to work with…Kellaway, Dixon, Peake with the bat…plus O’Neill, Perry, Elliott, McClure and Murphy with the ball…plus some sound SS experience in Harris, Hanscomb, and Boland…can see Rogers winning a few Shields TBH.

Yet another collapse in the shield match
such a poor scoring rate again too
led by probably the worst two openers I’ve seen for WA in Whiteman & Bancroft
these two place enormous pressure upon the other batsmen with their dawdling uninspiring batting
today almost 15 overs between them for just 23 runs
it’ll end up being a good thing 1 day has been lost here because we’ve just handed the initiative to SA entirely in this game already

Scores!!
