We play WP at Basso in Round 1 on July 18.
Thoughts on the 8 game season ahead Swannies fans?
At least we wont finish 10th this season! :silly:

Anyones guess really BH. If we can jag a win over WP in Round 1 then it might give us a bit of momentum. A lot will depend on how effective the new Victorian guys will be in the midfield.
Yeah to be honest I dont really know how we will go either Mike & SH.
I hope to see significant improvement on 2019 in the skill, work rate & fitness departments that would be a good start.
Lets hope we just go out and give it a real red hot crack for all 8 games in what is a very shortened season.
I assume there will be some practice matches prior to the 18th July so that we can check out the new players?
I would think at least 2 scratch matches probably on July 4 & 11.
Has anyone heard if we have any practice games on over the next couple of weeks?

Cheers STT.
So another 2 Saturdays of no football before even a scratchie.
So its
West Perth, Subiaco, Peel and Perth at home
Claremont, South Fremantle, East Perth and East Fremantle away.
Not a bad draw, we don’t get any trips to Mandurah or Joondalup and we have a bye in round 4 to lick our wounds after the Subiaco game.
Looking at it in an optimistic way if Swans could win all their home games bar the Subi one and pinch one or two of the away fixtures we may just be in with a chance of sneaking in to a finals spot.
In a worst case scenario I hope we can at least give away the wooden spoon to Peel.
In an abbreviated season, so much is dependent on Round 1 and how we start against West Perth. A win will give us momentum and confidence, a loss may well take the stuffing out of them with matches against Claremont and Subiaco following this.

Strange. The colts scratchies have been going for a couple of weeks, I think we played you blokes last week and we trounced the dogs today
I can’t understand why we haven’t got 2 scratch matches. The Amateur clubs appear a lot more organised.
Make no mistake,Swans will be raging favourites Round 1. We have recruited not a single player and lost 3 x top end players in Strijk, Riddoch and Chalmers, that equates to 60+ goals a season. If you drop this game it will be a long (shortened) season for the Swannies !
We have lost quite a few players too Leedy to afl, EP & other.
To be honest will just be glad to have some footy back albeit only an 8 game season.
On a completely separate note I hope those shortsighted dingbats from certain clubs who were calling for the season to be canned on here and on the radio some time back have had a complete change of tune and or dont attend this season, that would be hypocritical otherwise!

Yeah DG we have played 2 Colts practice games the previous 2 weekends (not sure about yesterday?) and yet no League scratchie until the 11th? Bizarre!
Meadows is a pretty good recruit Leedy.
Nope, this from the WP thread. He trained with WP briefly when the VFL was called off but went back when it was back on I believe.
Surely we have a game somewhere next Saturday given that there is a P V WP game on at Lathlain??
Just looking through the list of Senior players listed on the club website I have come up with what I think is the best 22 that Swans could put out there. I don’t know whether this list is up to date but here goes
mikeh, if available, I heard Grainger-Barras will most likely be in the 22 and someone who impressed me way back in February in the scratch match against the Eagles was Tarir Bayok.
