Round 9, 2013 v Perth

This is going to be the most interesting week for selections most probably. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

Lots of big man choices suddenly. McDougall and Madut absolutely dominated in the reserves against Peel. Sinclair is likely to return. Wheeler coming off a very good state game and not forgetting 6ft9 Seva Martin who is one of the most improved talls in the league. Can’t play them all but we can certainly play 3 - FF/Ruck/Bench rotation plus Wheeler at CHF.

Le Fanu, Bogensperger and Waters all pushing hard for a midfield spot. A few regulars in the 50-100 game bracket need to lift.

Some interesting names included in the league list this week. That doesn’t mean that all or even any of them will play but they are being considered. http://www.mediatonic.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Round-09.pdf

I don’t know why but I sense Subi could upset Perth this week

Yes, I like those additions to the initial squad - the likes of Bogensperger, Wood, McDougall, Le Fanu, Madut, Waters, DeLuca etc…bold but necessary…we’ll at least give them something to think about

Yes well lets hope some of them come in & are not just named in the squad, this playing favourites has got to end…

I don’t why you would sense that either Chopper.

Nicko is back with us but reports are that he will play around 60mins in the ressies, but as Ben mentioned to start with, some very good ins especially the talls, but it’s the mids where Perth will have our measure, plus showers are forcast so cant add too many big blokes.

Still think it is Perths game to lose but could be a lot closer than many expect. Nice to see all 4 games on a saturday arvo.

I’m really hoping that it doesn’t rain - for all the grades. The colts played terribly in the wet against Claremont. But as you say, the forecast doesn’t look good.

Looks like Callum Sinclair has a knee injury and Mzungu will play for Perth after being left out by the Dockers.
Oh well that’s the way the cards fall sometimes.

Settle Jimm.

Looks like Tendai may have travelled with Freo.

Some good news for you though, it looks like we have to put up with Ash Smith in our side. Weakens us no end.

Not really worried if Mzungu plays or not ,more interested in how many talls we will play especially if its going to be wet. If Sinclair had been available we may have been inclined to go in a bit top heavy and this may solve that. Anyway all these AFL players are only a bonus for this year as they will all be looking for a spot at EP or Peel next year.

League Squad - No point putting them in positions yet. Three players to be cut.

Hooray - some changes.
Very sad news about Sinclair - Ithink I might have to change my tips.

Hey fellas. Looking forward to the game tomorrow…make sure the beers are cold although by the look of the weather not too cold!

Just wanted to get some feedback on what the feeling around the club is for this game against Perth. You have picked up a couple of our players and officials…do you think there will be any more feeling in the game?

Good luck tomorrow…From all accounts you’ll probably need it!

Subi will win by about 5 goals if its wet, about 10 goals if its fine!

PC word down at leederville is they have had to get the old goal net out of retirement and place it up behind the goals. Apparently the ground manager is worried perth will kick that many goals theres a chance Subis gate takings will be eroded in lost balls alone!

Not sure what you’re basing that on Po Cocko me boy.

But I sure hope you’re telling the players that.

I wonder who will be the 3 players cut from the 25? I’m guessing Madut, Wood and Worthington. But who knows.

Ben thats one of the better lists so far this year, not sure of the placements but would look at Clanger and Mcdougal changing out of a forward pocket if it’s wet, if dry I’d add either Madut or Martin and run a threeway through FF & The bench, that might stretch Perth’s big man stocks.

For us to win our mids will have to improve significantly and consistently over the 4 qtrs as perth has proven they will run the game out. perth have had our measure over the past 3 or 4 years even when they were totally crap they seem to pull out a big effort against us. Need to shut down Bevan and Stack to have any chance.

Yeah, I’ve wanted that 3 way ruck/Fwd/Bench combo all year. I really believe in it. It’s our potential strength over the opposition. I just don’t feel the selectors agree.

It could be done easily but it would mean that Herring plays ressies. But I’ll wait and check the paper tomorrow.
