Rnd 4 at Home

Let’s hope Swans have a win today and bank the 4 points. Is disappointing to see them at the bottom of the league ladder. Apparently they finished last week’s Away match strongly but ran out of time. If Swans can take the same into today, they should winning. The last 5 head to head games has I think Swans only victorious in 1. A loss today will be 4 in a row and virtually season over.

Oh deary me! Very bad result there.

Wow. Stupid ten metre kick accross goal cost Swans the win.
You let the other seven teams down.

Try 6 losses in a row WAG.
Yet another completely inept performance following on from 3 other insipid games.
But the footy dept continue to pick their same underperforming veteran mates and others that are weekly turnover merchants who couldnt hit the side of a barn.
You reap what you sow in this game and with the season already done at rd4 that should also be the end for some others at the club but alas…

6 goals is not going to win games of footy. Looks like last season was an outlier pretty much driven by Rokahar. Back to total mediocrity which to be honest is what Swans supporters are used to. Tough to say it but our season is all but over in round 4 FFS!

Is the club actually serious about winning WAFL League Premierships?
For goodness sake enough is enough.
There are so many questions that need to be asked of everyone at the club.
The skill level is abysmal.
What is the point of playing the likes of underperforming 30+yo’s like Howard, Blakely, Notte, Stephens, Yukich etc they are not the future of the club and will all be done by seasons end, we should have been getting games in to some of our youngsters instead of wasting precious time on underperforming veterans.
If you cant train you dont play should be the first prerequisite!

Yep, almost a continuation of last week; how do we play so poorly and get so close? Low skills and lack of pace - except Reidy when allowed to run - and failure to run to support teammates are killing us. Kelly and Chipper seem to be running around with fridges on their backs. Peel were hopeless…and we were worse.

SH I must admit I have been astounded at how poor the WAFL standard has been this season across pretty much all of the games I have seen both live and on tv.
The skill level at times is so poor it has to be seen to be believed, just ugly football to watch.
And we are the worst side by a long way.
And the club cant blame inexperience with the side they are putting out resembling Dads Army in age!

Sadly I have to agree about the standard BH.

Perth were playing a good brand of footy last night from the bit I saw.
The only other WAFL footy I have seen this year has been with Swans playing and to be honest I think they are dragging other teams down to their level. It is just so boring to watch. I would rather see a group of young guys go out there and play a braver more attacking system, which will probably mean a few 10 goal floggings if it doesn’t work but everything we seem to be doing at the moment is about damage control and trying to bore the opposition in to submission. I don’t look forward to Saturday afternoons like I used to because it is just going to contain more frustration

Sounds like round 6 S v Sd in a couple of weeks will be a gOoD gAmE Beas!!!
It will be your first win.
Let’s face it Subi, Swans, Peel and Wc are sub standard atm.
My young nephew in the SF colts system says him and his mates can’t watch the WAFL league anymore, it’s too shit a standard was his words…

the drop off in standard has been brought about by coaching
and coaching styles
don’t bother with the lies or thinking it’s anything else
players are actively being told to kick anywhere but forward in plays and this is why we see so many intercepts now
don’t think I’ve ever seen so many leads ignored in general play as is evident now
and then some shitty short 15 to 20 metre chip which doesn’t even get to a player or is just intercepted
players look behind every single time now don’t even think about what’s ahead
then there’s the deliberate tactics of rugby maul on the ground just about every single play
it is a VFL disease a syphilis on the game of football
which was once a beautiful thing

Well, it’s hard to disagree with a lot of what’s being said on here. Obviously we don’t know everything that’s going on and there’s some nuffs on here who ramble on but there’s also enough smarts(lol pardon the pun) to know that the club is a mess and requires significant change, at least in the football department. Unfortunately though, there doesn’t seem to be an alternative ticket/group that are willing or able to go up against the current regime to inflict a spill or compromise of a handover.

While many currently at the club profess to care about winning flags and being perennial contenders they love their positions of notoriety more and rather that admit fault or even have a clue how to rectify the situation they swan around at pre game functions, in the presidents lounge or floating into the past players room all the while pissing in each others pockets and or patting each other on the back, pretending that there are causes outside of our control which are contributing to poor results and standard of football. In other words “we’ve been unlucky” - please!

Who is holding the President, The Director of Football, The Football Manager and the Coach to account for where we find ourselves? It should be the members but many of them are glued on pensioners who are customed to showing up regardless of our plight. Far out, they even voted in John Komowroski ffs and he’s got no idea. He doesn’t even know how to progress the PPOA let alone the club or the footy program.

If the President, who I think should stay by the way, at this stage, is doing his job then he needs to be, at the very least, questioning the performance of the other 3 mentioned. He also needs to be brave enough to make a change in positions where he might need to tap his mates on the shoulder.

It is fact that there a some good people with relevant experience that would return to club but not while certain individuals are in senior positions.

To finish with the offield debacle the club continues to push with this nonsense at least once a year of putting the women as the lead in to the men. Make no mistake it had a significant impact on the crowd on Saturday. Also, how does the club justify the price jump in a pint from $12 to $13? $11:50 at Subi! I think cans are $8, wowee. We aren’t a pub, we are a club.

To the onfield issue’s. 8,6,8,6 goals to start the season, it’s ugly footy to say the least and it’s hard to see us kicking more than 10 this coming Saturday as well. The coach is constantly asking the players to get the ball on the outside which is fine if we are talking about the outside of the contest and not the outside perimeter. There has been no talking of hitting 45’s, changing angles and looking for fwd handballs which is the current trend and has been for years. It’s all sideways, backwards and up the line to limit the damage. But then when we do get it in i50 our shots have been rarely from a mark or inside the V.

There were some better signs again in effort, contest and ball movement but unfortunately it’s still not near the required standard and points to the fact that we weren’t prepared well enough leading into the season.

There’s also concerns once again with selection integrity. How we are picking Doc to predominantly play chf is embarrassing. Both he and Smith, who couldn’t back up the previous weeks effort (yeah yeah he’s young), are a liability up forward and struggle to compete for one reason or another. Surely Caporn gives us more energy, agility and experience?!!! Then we have young Taylor losing his spot to Howard (Howard was solid!) after what I thought was a strong effort against South. We also had Jeb starting off as a defensive fwd after playing on the leading goal kicker at full back the week before. Sure, horses for courses but that just breaks up the team imbalance. It didn’t last long and he moved back to take on Banfield but that just makes more of a farce of the prep leading in. If he plays his usual negating role through the middle or back half then surely that opens up another attacking option up fwd for Cartwright or Alforque to provide some much needed pace and enthusiam?!

As it is, we are zip and 4 and the attempt to limit the damage prior to the return of 3-4 quality players has exemplified how bad we actually are with a % of 63. But even when Pasini and Collins do return it won’t make much difference if we don’t pick the right team or play a different style.

*Caporn

Hit the nail on the head there mate.

Round one, watched South and thought wow, this is a great standard, really good pace, then came the Swans game and it was like a different mob, dullest contest out and a world away from the previous standard.

What happened to Danger’s post? I didn’t agree with everything they said, but they made some good comments.

Yeah it was a good post and probably reflected what many Swans supporters are feeling at the moment. I’d say its likely that Danger deleted it himself for reasons that only he knows. Doubt if OFA would have wiped it, there was nothing really controversial, just an opinion about the current regime at the club.

I missed it but I suspect, like me, he is tired of the excuses coming out of the club and their warped priorities.
If they keep playing WAFLW as curtain raisers - they may aswell wind the club up. Nobody will turn up. Sunday is their day not the colts who then clash with community football.
Unfortunately our once proud club has been hijacked by do-gooders and wokism and will never be the same.
Too many numptys living off the WAFC wages in club land that really have no idea on how a footy club should be run esp a successful WAFL club. Also too many long-termers living off the odd past good year.
They are happy to tick inclusion and LGBTQI boxes and sing kumbaya over being competitive in the flagship mens comp. The comp the club was founded on.
Girls teams incl futures get right of way to use the once great Basso Oval whilst boys that have played the game since they were toddlers get to go to Midvale or other off site venues to train.
Prepare for decades in the doldrums for SDFC. Its bad

Thats a bloody good post MRod, Swans was the club that has held firm on the Womens shit and suffering the Reserves around, we are all rooted now they are bending over:(

If this off season is anything to go by it looks like we even have to get the girls teams approval for any potential WAFL recruits fmd!
We could have had the best player in the comp running around for us but instead…
