Lindsay passed away Tuesday at the age of 89. He came to Swan Districts from Railways in the Goldfields FL in 1959, where he was a member of their premiership team the year before. Lindsay played only 27 games for Swan Districts Football Club, and it was his inclusion late in the 1961 season that contributed towards Swans first premiership. he had played 19 games for 11 goals in the Reserves, but came into the team in round 21, kicking two goals. He scored another two in the 2nd Semi FInal loss to East Perth, four in the Preliminary Final against Subiaco, and another three in the Grand Final lining up against Mal Atwell.
Lindsay played three more games in 1962 before giving the game away due to injuries. He later took up umpiring, and was good enough to umpire the 1971 Grand Final between West Perth and East Perth in what was Graham Polly Farmer’s last match as a player. He umpired 92 league games before retiring. He later joined the Swan Districts committee in 1979 and stayed on until 1985, when he was awarded Life Membership of Swan Districts. He also had a long involvement with the Swan Valley FC. A copy of his recommendation in the annual report of that year is shown below.
