Feels strange to be going into a game v Subi where Perth are favourites. On current form, though, we should win. Do we change a winning team? I rate Watson as a player of the future, but he was quiet last week, while Kemp was unlucky to be cut, but played well in the reserves. There is a forecast of rain. Will that affect selection? Kemp could be a good wet weather player, or we could bring in a bigger body like Stubbs or Gray. That said, Lathlain handles the wet pretty well, so the only change I would make is Kemp or R Clarke (if fit) for Watson.
Injury hub has Johnston back at round 7, which would be May 24. (there is a bye on May 17) He will have to get back to match fitness with at least two games in the reserves, but in my view, when fit, he has to be in the best 22.
Fair call about Watson Ted, - McLean may be another to consider to come in for him though. Only missed last week through injury. His last quarter mark and left foot to Clarke for a goal showed true football skills and team desire.
We need to be careful to keep our second line players involved - but Stubbs is far too slow and falls over all the time - cant consider him at the moment with the talent we have.
Fantastic only having two on the injured list. Also fantastic that the club seems to be updating it weekly on Wednesday.
V Subi round ~16 last year was the game that saw Germo exit.
Here’s to the boys continuing to be Tough and Ruthless from start to finish of the game.
That does seem strange. Hope it’s not another discipline problem with Thorne. The team looks ok. From the extended bench, Taylor and Randall are a must. I’d otherwise go with Kemp and, if wet, Stubbs. Subi have a good forward line with Mayo, Borchet and May. They have some good mids, but seem low on depth. Do we tag Clark? If he’s hurting us, I think Randall would do a good job tagging.
Clark lacks pace.
In fact, I think our pace and pressure will worry them.
We need to come to play, this is one that should be marked in.
If we play like we have been we should win.
I’m hoping all 3 grades.
Watson and Thorne now appear on injury list. Knee, due back round 6. Well done to Della on working his way back from 3 years worth of injuries. Hope he gets a good run at it as I think he is a quality player Also hope, unlike Hunter, that he is grateful for the assistance the club has given and the faith shown in him…
Thanks for those links, Dazz. I confess I was hoping to hear Parfitt say he wouldn’t nominate for MSD - I thought he might be at the point of thinking, at age 27, it is time to move to a new phase of life rather than potentially having to move interstate and be a fringe player for 18m. Still, good on him for persevering.
Bad news re Simpson. Hope it’s nothing serious. Bye next week may be helpful. What happened to Parfitt? Bit of a slog, but good to get the win without one of our main play makers and down one on the bench.
Still plenty of pressure from the reserves, with good games from Kemp, Stubbs, Moore and Gray. Plus Thorne and Clarke hopefully ready after the bye.
Geez I’d take an unconvincing win against Subi any day of the week. Pleasing thing was we held them at arms length all day. Could have easily won by more. Week off probably come at a good time. Injuries always going to play a part at some stage. We just need to stay healthy and we’ll play finals

There is no week off boys. EF next week. Although we won we have slipped from 2nd to 4th on the ladder. Interesting. Scoble took a couple of big knock in the last. ? bruised sternum - that sort of thing kept Edwards out for 4-5 games lat year.
Simpson was downhearted apparently but saying that not as bad as first thought. 1-3 weeks.
Good news I saw Johnno running down the steps from the grandstand before the game. Should come straight in. I would consider Benjamin Franklin. Stubbs 31 posessions and Gray 34. Tarks looks good. Harry Quartermaine looks as lean as I’ve ever seen him. Booted 3 and had to ruck the last qtr after Tristian Jacques came off injured. Not sure getting rid of Broadbent was wise.
Chooka was outstanding as was Schlensog. Best marking game I’ve seen from Schlenga in Perth colours. Maybe a blessing in disguise Parfitt being injured as far as the msd is concerned. Sorry for being selfish.
Best game so far by Randall. He is so good inside. 29 possessions. Cachard’s best game 27 possessions and 2 very good goals. Quiet game by Aussie Davis by his standards, Oscar Hine-Baston showed a ton of dash just needs to be a bit more composed by foot, tends to over kick slightly but trending in the right direction.
Josh Edwards tough as nails, tireless worker and underrated.
