Perth V South

Weird machinations going on with Perth’s injury list. Of the listed bench I would go for Gray, Fleiner, Roberts and Bodle. Must admit I don’t know much about Roberts but his looks a good height and weight - only 18 - may be another speedy player who Stone seems to like

Poole an out and not in the Ressies - Trust he is all good.

Apparently Poole suffered bad concussion a week or two ago. Possibly still feeling the effects? I suppose he could always use a soft helmet like some past players have done.

He’s been wearing one since he came back.

Hey Guys- just to give you the heads up ,Jack for is still suffering neck issues akin to whiplash which he has endured for 12 months - saw a surgeon this week who is helping him out with some more testing etc - he will be about the club - cant speak highly enough of the coaches and the club for there understanding ! it is gunna take time thou..

Hopefully seeing a good chiropractor Mike. I suffered whiplash in a car accident many years ago and required about 6 months of regular chiropractic treatment to overcome it. Jacks’ a good lad. Health comes first.

I don’t hold much hope in this game.

Picked the interchange I would have gone with. Good to see Jack Bodle get his chance. Go well Jack.

South Fremantle are raging favourites in this match. But as Swan Districts proved last week - one never knows what could happen.

What happened to Aussie Davis and Matt Parker - 5 disposals each?

I think Wills played on Parker did a great job. Aussie injured his ankle early in the first qtr.

Paton did his hammy not sure late 2nd or early 3rd qtr and Schlensog pulled up lame hopefully was cramp late in the last qtr. Came back on went forward but didn’t compete in the ruck. Hopefully not a calf.

Reasonable effort to get within 4 goals of SF. However, injuries are starting to bite. Losing Paton is a blow. Hopefully Byrne and Simpson can come back and compensate. We need a lot more from A Clarke. Take out his two 7 goal games and he has 12 goals from 7 or 8 games. What happened to Davis? 5 touches??

I continue to scratch my head at the omission of Gray. I would have thought that, losing a big bodied mid in Randall, a logical replacement would be another big bodied mid. Instead, we go for Hill, a guy who has never proven himself as a league player, but comes straight in after 1 reserves game following an extended injury. He then picks up 7 disposals… Next week we hopefully bring in Byrne and Simpson to replace Paton and Hill.

WP did us a favour beating Peel. That means we are three games clear in the 5. With injuries mounting we might need that buffer.

Aussie did his ankle early in the game. Interesting comments from Mark Stone before the game I’ll address it on the Michael Randall topic.

Thanks rednblack. Any idea how bad the ankle is? If Aussie misses, surely Della or Gray have to come in. Randall would be welcome back, but his form against C, WCER and SD was poor. Maybe his heart wasn’t in it. His early season form was very good. Without Byrne and Randall, too much is being left to Parfitt and Constable.

Yes, Dellamarta and Gray over 30 disposals each.
I notice a fair number of handballs from Gray too.

Both Subi and WP did us favours today.
I was happy that we at least fought it out and didn’t let them run completely over us.

Just started watching the replay went to the game and here is my take.

We took it up to South but I said to my good mate at the qtr time huddle. This is the qtr that matters, the 2nd qtr. That’s where we blew it. Handed South’s 3 or 4 goals from mistakes. Skill errors and decision making.

But here are the positives.

Baxter Philip has announced himself as a star in this competition. I’m giving him best on ground for us at least. Keep it going Baxter your last 2 games have been outstanding.

Angus Luers belongs at league level. Credit to this guy and the coaches in 2025. Has been toiling away for several years in the reserves and no one gave him a go.

Jack Bodle. Previous coach dropped him after the first game last year. He’s my X factor player at the Perth FC. Like Luers been flying under the radar for the last few years. Stoney is noticing something in them and giving them a chance and they are saying fuck yeh coach, I’ll show you I can play.

Connor Sing - outstanding job on Trey Ruscoe keeping him goalless, I’m guessing for the first time this season. In fact he kicked 1 behind.

Watson - you belong.
Cachard - growing in stature and belief.
Derksen - best game from him starting to find his feet.

2025 is a stepping stone into 2026. That’s what Mark Stone is planning for.

Yes, I for one have to adjust my expectations for 2025.
My hope for this year was to challenge to make the five.
We’ve done that, and I think we can win enough games to make it.
But we need to work on challenging the good sides.
And we must lock in Constable, Parfitt, Simpson and Schlensog for next year.
I agree 2025 is a stepping stone and some of our youngsters are looking like League players.
You can throw Wills into that mix of youngsters you mentioned, how Subi let him go has got me baffled.
And Watson did some good things today.

Was still out there early in the second quarter. Wills wore him like a cheap suit.

Just finished watching the replay. Aussie limping at the 18 minute mark of the first though ran it out. We definitely missed his usual type of run and carry. Rest him until he is fit.

Last quarter was excellent though played with a lot of risk.

Taylor again excellent he has a fantastic kick.
Definitely let down by our forward line.

Would be nice to pick up someone like the debutant that South had today (the double named red head band wearing forward that kept Scobes busy). Also Souths #8 in the backline was excellent.

Hill back to the ressies.

Interesting that our emergency Roberts only had 4 disposals in the Ressies.

McClean another young gun I think.

Persevere with Fleiner, Bodle and Luers

So with Hill, Paton, and Aussie (two forwards and a wing) out who comes in?

Kemp for Aussie (though quite game in the resseis yesterday)
Cooper Moore for Hill. (Will give massive and repeat contest and Speed)
Della or Gray for Paton. (Not like for like but?)

Maybe throw Nyika John back and put Hine-Baston forward.
