Perth 2025

Is he as good as Thompson with better skills?

Maybe recruiting is not a complete loss after all.

Parfitt is miles ahead of Thompson. In fact- if you got Randall- he’d be just as good as Thompson- numbers would be similar

Thanks, KCEF.
I take it Parfitt has good skills.
Thompson got the footy, but his skills weren’t top class for me.

Ok
Parfitt for Thompson,
Broadbent for Chaplin

Any news on Randell - he would replace Cooley.
OHB should be a regular replacement for Manzone.

May as well consider Simpson a new recruit as he only played 4 games last year.

Still need a replacement for Avery down back - One of the Hall boys may do it. I do agree that Avery is fantastic at reading the play - wonky kick though and always wanted out so best he has gone.

Winning 13 of 18 may do it with the 3 game penalty (that I suspect may only be 1 game penalty - I think this because its taking so long)

6PR just saying any penalties should be announced this week!

Well you blokes have just moved to second spot on the recruiting ladder behind Souths. Now just keep him off the park until after the mid season grab fest

Looks like we dodged a bullet, a few flesh wounds and potential future penalties

[quote=“Demons Forever post=239250 userid=981”]Senior Football seems to have disappeared from the PFC website.
I assume this is a temporary update thing.

Strange, no senior player option visible but if you Google Perth Demons senior players and click on the link it comes up with all players and the URL showing football/senior-players

Brandon Parfitt confirmed in The West. Signed for 2 years. Obviously there is the Geelong connection but he apparently played under Brad Dodd at North Adelaide before he got drafted. Didn’t know Doddy had a coaching career in the SANFL. You learn something every day.

Brother Steven also on a tear up north coaching the Dampier Sharks to the last 4 flags. Maybe can send 1 or 2 promising lads our way though I think Dampier is tied to Swans but that would only apply to zoned players.

As far as early Christmas presents go, that’s not too shabby at all. Definitely something to smile about.

I had a few snarky comments lined up, but old One Punch has landed a knockout! The same article in the West also links us to Randall and Tyrone Thorne (Peel) but confirms that neither has been finalised yet

The Randall rumour has been around for a while- wonder what is holding that up?? Thorne is an excellent little player- he fell out of favour at Peel. One Punch brought in a few ex-Peel players to EF and looks like he’s going to continue the trend here- Randall, Thorne and Broadbent.

But Parfitt is an absolute coup

Just when I had all but given up on the Dees for 2025 I discovered that a silver lining is just around the corner.
The caps breaches appear minor and acknowleged as unintentional. A wake up call to the club to be totally thorough in what seems a tricky system to navigate. Luckily the penalties are at least partially suspended.
The Parfitt coup is a jewel. Broadbent is on our list - 205/105 and only 20. Randall and Thorne would be useful gets along with Culley who should be highly rated at this level.
Top marks to the coach and football manager if all falls into place.
So, in view of the club’s brush with a minus 12 points start to the season perhaps the grey clouds over the 2025 season may be clearing. I hope that we now have our act together and can move on from here confidently.

Maybe we should merge with Geelong

Yes, things are looking more promising. But we have to land at least two of Thorne, Randall and Culley to say we have improved our list on paper. I say “on paper” because improvement can come from within and with a good injury run for players like Simpson, Poole, Dellamarta. Thorne would be a handy small forward.

I’d be inclined to play Schlensog at CHF, especially if Broadbent proves capable of supporting Edwards. A forward line of Schlensog, Stubbs, Simpson, Clarke, Kemp and Thorne could kick some decent scores.

In 2024 our big 5 recruits missed a total of 36 league games.
Simpson 4 missed 14
Constable 11 missed 7
Edwards 11 missed 7 (played 3 ressies)
Clarke 13 missed 5
Schlensog 15 missed first 3 played 1 ressies.

Get those guys games played up to an acceptable level of around 80% and improvement will come from that alone.

Josh Edwards has shown he can compete as a ruckman at WAFL level. It was only an injury that cruelled his season last year.
Add Broadbent, similar in size and at last our ruck stocks are promising. Both only 20/21 with potential growth and experience.

Yes, things are a lot brighter.
I was considering not renewing the membership things looked so bad.
Not now, renewal will be done.
Parfitt not only replaces Thompson but adds a bit again (I think).
I reckon Broadbent is a really good pick up.
I’d like to add Culley.
He destroyed last year.
Thorne has been a thorn to us as well.

He is great value there, but i fear we might have to use him down back now that Avery is gone. IMO he is the only one capable of those crucial intercept marks. It’s a bit like when Busher returned a few years ago - we needed two of him.
