Old Perth Pubs, long gone

A few off the top of my head that have gone the way of the dodo bird & the EPFC LH are the Swanbourne, Mosman Park, Highway, Cannington, Scarborough, Shenton Park. There used to be one in Northbridge I frequented in my younger days as well that is now a backpackers/Eurobar closed about 1997 just cant remember its name???

BH pretty sure that pub in northbridge was called the lonestar.

Dont forget the palace hotel boys. Used to sit under the pool table as a kid eating my samboy chips while the old man was quenching his thurst.

Had many a drink on a Friday night in the dungeon of the Palace. Great spot for the birds in my day. Luckily I worked in town.

The other icon for me was the Esplanade (Perth) fine old 5 star hotel. Long, long, long gone.

.

And hopefully you & he will live happily ever after!! B)

A few of those are still around just been done up ..the Maylands was owned by Wattsie wasnt it until it mysteriously burned to the ground almost 20 years ago  & the area has been lying empty ever since!

The Old Commercial Hotel Midland and Mundaring Hotel still going and both still sell EMU Bitter on tap. No yuppie’s aloud here, Blue collar’s Only.

The Midland Inn was another pub that burnt down from memory!

He made an honest man out of me

Gerry hevron had the Midland Inn went it burnt down

Not the Criterion cellar bar as well. :frowning:

I only visited there about a year or so ago.

What about The Globe on Wellington St. hahaha…that joint was humming at 8.00am :silly:

Met my Partner at the Globe 12 years ago. Used to get cranking around 2am and go through to past 8am

Whats his name outer?

The Manning road was a well frequented pub in the day, and The Junction in Midland. now that was a place where you had to have eyes in the back of your head! My band played a regular spot there for a while on a Thursday night and we saw some good bar brawls and if they requested a song you didnt refuse haha

Yeah the Ascot Inn & the Sandringham have both closed in the last 12 months or so.
[/quote]

The Sandringham has squatters in there now i heard.probably not much difference from their previous clientele :stuck_out_tongue:

Its amazing reading some of these places now gone that you forget about..i reckon we can blame reality TV and cheaper p1ss at Dan Murphys etc, they used to have live music 7 nights a week 30 odd years ago now your battling to find gig anywhere to see a decent rocknroll or blues band

I remember we played another regular Thursday night gig at the Woodbridge and the manager used to walk around with the sound metre monitoring us haha we used to blow the roof off that place as it was tiny..Xmas eve 2002 was jampacked probably our best gig experience ever

It’s a bloody shame.

I might try and visit all the remaining ones, just in case they shutdown soon. At least then, I can say I was in there at least once.

The Raffles Summer Lounge was a great spot to pick up sheilas when I was a young bloke and as I got older the cocktail bar for old boilers on a Thursday night.

I’ve got to have a beer at the Raffles just so I can say I have. Haven’t been to many SOTR. Always caught the eye. Same with that lit up swan/Swan Lager sign at the old brewery site back when I was a boy.

Be prepared to take out a second mortgage if you’re having a beer at the Raffs these days Ben.

Goodluck at the The Raffles La Hincha. You’ll need plenty of cash :stuck_out_tongue:
