Must admit that looks very impressive. Will the current grandstand be demolished or incorporated into this construction?
Demolished. From what I can tell from the drawings the new facility will be positioned from the 50 metre arc up until about the can bar and medical room. The existing main gate, HJ’s and merch store will go.
Demolished as Stage 2.
So we are not inconvenienced.
Tonights Council Minutes page 121
Following the WA State government 2024/25 budget announcement on May 9, it can be confirmed that the Town has successfully secured a funding commitment of an additional $6,000,000 for this project. The funding includes a condition for a commitment by the Town to facilitate increased and equitable use of the grounds and facilities. This confirms assumption b) of the Business Plan.
Recommendation
-
That Council awards Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the contract associated with Request for Tender TVP Two Stage Design and Construction Contract – Lathlain Precinct Redevelopment Project Zone 1, to Tenderer B, PS Structures Pty Ltd, with the terms and conditions outlined in the contract, as their offer has been evaluated as the most advantageous to the Town.
-
That Council note Stage 1 will commence immediately following contract execution for a lump sum fee and that Stage 2 will not commence unless the conditions precedent of the contract are met, and Council approve issuing a Notice to Proceed to Stage 2 at the September 2024 OCM.
-
That Council note should a contract not be formed successfully with Tenderer B, the Town will proceed with a contract with Tenderer A under delegated authority as the next most advantageous to the Town.
-
That Council approves a variation to the existing contract CTVP 21-17 (awarded with council resolution 71/2021) with lead design consultants Hames Sharley and associated sub consultants, to support Stage 1 of the contract as per confidential attachment 13.3.2.
Not sure anyone on here will be able to answer this question but here goes.
The building of the Lathlain rooms and downstairs dining room.
I think these were extended on to the back of the Grandstand some time in 60s?
Does anyone know whether the Club built those or did the PCC as it was then pay for it?
So TFAF, what does this mean?
Any timeline come out of the meeting?
As far as I can tell DF, the council are finally happy. Hard to walk away from the extra $6mill. From here they have authorised a contractor to commence Stage 1 immediately.
I think Stage one is some sort of final final costing. Stage 2 to comence after council meeting in September assuming Stage 1 is acceptable.
It is total gooblegook though.
Local schools still complaining about some shit too btw. Unbelievable
What are the schools complaining about TFAF. I assume it is Lathlain Primary as that’s the closest school to MRP.
They want agreement that they can use kitchen and other facilities without having to ask us or pay. Something like that anyway. As I said it’s an onerous document to read.
All the best guys - sure hope this turns out better than the EFFC debacle. You want to take a leaf from Claremont and learn what not to do from EFFC.
Unfortunately we won’t have the commercial opportunities like Claremont have given their location but at least we won’t be crowded in by blocks of flats and our ground polluted in dog shit.
But our lease is a fraction of what we would be paying if the Eagles were not our co tenants. And there are some commercial benefits we get from their sponsorship’s. Hopefully we can hire out our new facility like we have done for decades with our current function room which I dare say is possibly the biggest in the WAFL.
I just saw on the Town of VP website that money has been allocated to repair parts of our stand and toilets. 80K. What a waste if they are spending this on the old girl, when they should be going ahead with the redevelopment
That’s insane but what else do we expect from a council.
With all of the money the government is throwing around at sporting upgrades surely ours should be a priority, especially with the womens team coming on board.
$80k is a pittance these days when it comes to buildings and maintenance, This crumbling eyesore of a joint probably needs some basic maintenance just to keep it in an acceptably safe and sanitary state until the redev goes ahead.
We all look forward to these ground redevs, Lathlain, Freo & Basso for starters.
I thought construction of the new one had already started?
What is the hold up ..been years now.

Agree 80k is sfa, barely even a coat of paint these days.
No doubt this is for toilet upgrades to cater for women.

Increase in building costs, but the main thing I heard is the Town of Victoria Park has been incredibly difficult to deal with.
I believe the State Government is now in talks with the council to try to come to a resolution.
