Jesus. It looks like $4 million promised to redevelop Lathlain by the Feds could go down the drain because the Vic Park council don’t want it to go ahead.
Are these people interested in the area or not.

Good riddance that’s music to my ears it’s all falling into place beautifully as far as I am concerned. Now let’s get on with negotiations with the City of Gosnells to develop a new WAFL ground at Tom Bateman Sporting Complex ideally situated across the road from where the new Nicholson Rd train station is being built. Toot toot happy days. No more being dictated to by the West Coast Eagles.
Agree DD, would move you more into the heart of your zone, doesn’t need to be the Taj Mahal, just good efficient facilities with up to 4 or 5 k capacity. Either that or move to the redeveloped WACA, but you may be moving from one overbearing co-tenant to another.
Spot on SS but the Eagles can pay us 10 million in compensation to leave our home ground and free it up to do what they want. That will give us the 10 million dollar shortfall making it 24 million which builds us a pretty nice stadium I would think from the ground up without the massive cost of knocking down the massive structure of the grandstand and football facilities that are there now. That alone would cost a fortune. There is just a minimilist change room facility there now at Tom Bateman Sporting Complex.
We need to sell the idea to the City of Gosnells that it brings a higher profile to the area than what exists at the moment though they have national baseball team Perth Heat across the other side. The Gozzie shire could kick in the rest to make a world class multi purpose facility similar to Joondy. Just don’t want Venues West paws on it.
The Department of Transport should also be excited at the prospect of a WAFL ground across the road from a new train station and railway line. More bums (no pun intended) on seats on the choo choo.
The biggest problem I would see with the WACA would be attracting sponsors.
Perth will have to get in quick DD, there is a multi sporting complex going up cnr Southern River & Holmes rd, also the hockey & cricket club is in the process of getting funding for new club rooms.

Today
So the new building will be situated on the north side of the current stand?
Do you know what will they do with the space created once the old stand is demolished which occurs after the new facility is built?
Shame that it’s only now that the DA has been submitted. Council will take a few months to process that and then construction plans and consultant documents need to be prepared then Council approved before any tendering can occur which can take a couple of months. All that before they turn the first sod. I’d suggest it wont be ready until '26/'27 but at least the wheels are finally turning in the right direction. Are poor struggling WC still only dropping $2mill into the funding?
Perhaps the development is TOVP have finally agreed to stump up the shortfall. Blowouts in construction costs meant the difference between the government grants and actual cost has blown out considerably. Perhaps this is an indication they have agreed on a figure of 24 million.
Was told construction should begin next year and be completed by September 2025. Of course these are guesstimates who knows what spanners get thrown at us between now and then.
Just read the council minutes from 18th December 2023. Amazingly long. New plans have been approved.
What’s the next stage??
As in has the build gone out to tender - if so have we secured a builder. If so when does it start??
Superb and we are the lease holder. I haven’t read through everything but I can’t see how we would be under a venue management arrangement.
Can’t remember exact number but I think the grandstand will have a capacity of around 820 and there are about 200 seats marked for away supporters so everyone has access not like Joondy’s previous arrangement and from the sounds of it, East Fremantle’s new digs.
And it’s all elevated with a concourse area across the front for spectators to stand and view the game or walk through.
Also fully glassed behind the seating areas so patrons enjoying the air conditioning and a frothy can have uninterrupted views of the match.
Going to be a shit load of solar panels too to keep our costs down.

So we haven’t negotiated the same deal as the Belgravia Sharks then?
Is there going to be a can bar or dollars deck or something similar?
Looks great. I doubt that there would be a can bar except maybe the existing one in the scoreboard pocket.
I have only briefly perused the 19 pages atm but at first glance it is looking good.
Just looked at the plans.
The new facility is superb and will be the envy of all other Clubs.
Yes the Community space is separate including it’s own kitchen.
The building is about the PFC including the huge main hall and members bar and main bar.
With all due respect to the current administration who are putting the finishing touches on it, we need to give a great deal of credit to the hard work of Colin Lofts, Bob Shields and their team who worked tirelessly for 5 or 6 years to make this happen.
We are seeing the benefit of their experience in the property and hospitality sector coming to fruition.
With a facility like this the future of the Perth Football Club is looking very bright indeed.
So much for moving lol.
Congratulations on a job well done.

Who cares about a can bar?
There’s one in the outer.
And guess what we don’t move out until we move in.
it’s called successfull negotiation.
A lot of people I speak to care about a can bar and would prefer if there was one included in the new facilities.
The can bar adds to the atmosphere on game days.
Hopefully Barra has made sure there is an area for the camera’s without having to sacrifice a bunch of seats for cameras to cover games.

Would be ten times better with a facility like this or even better at our own venue in touch with our growth zones and in total control of our ground. Today I was told the EAGLES will not open the ground until 15 to 20 minutes before the game. Fkn ridiculous, people had to walk around to the Eagles headquarters to get in. I waited in the car until they opened the gates.
