The issue here was Djokovic was granted a visa to travel to Australia. A visa only allows you to jump on a plane but it doesn’t guarantee entry into Australia which is given on arrival. Once he got here, the law mandates he’s allowed to appeal a decision not to allow him entry which he did, but he should never have been given a visa in the first place if he couldn’t prove he was double vaccinated. His visa should have been cancelled before he even started to come here and if it was, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.
I’m sure like me you’ve watched hundreds of internationals arriving in Australia on the Border Force show on tv BC only to not satisfy Customs that his their application is valid and they are put on the next plane home and banned from applying for a visa to Australia for 3 years.
As an Australian citizen and tax payer I expect the same to apply here. Like I said in my previous post, the Australian government is setting a dangerous precedent if they don’t treat him the same as any other entrant who managed to get on a plane to Australia.
It will make a mockery of Australian border rules.

Pretty much spot on, TA went were chucking double back-flips with a pike to get this joker in, I am not certain they ever properly vetting his medical information, it’s very hard to sort the chain of events here, but it sounds to be he made a representation that he had been infected with Covid to get the TA approval a visa, prior to him actually being infected a second time and that’s what lead to the alert Border Force officer holding him up at the airport.
This is a bloke that was holding discos during covid and also even after he was infected was posing with pictures with families and kids recently.
Now its showing he lied on his border declaration stating he didn’t travel elsewhere 14 days before arriving in Aus. When in fact he did go to Spain to train.
12 month jail max penalty. Would be the ultimate irony if they threw him in Jail for this, especially after, according to his Dad, he just got out of “Prison”
Deport and ban him.
Interesting we have heard nothing from the PM, especially with an election in the coming months. Imagine the non stop media if he is allowed to stay and the PM does nothing, I can tell you labours campaign now. Sco- Mo did nothing to protect you all.
I cant see them jailing him when there is no history - Mcbob hat’snot agreeing with your comments but in cases like this they look at previous history and we don’t seem to have a lot of people jailed for lying on their travel forms.
Has he even produced evidence he had Covid in the last 6 months? If he did why is there evidence of him visiting kids tennis academies and taking selfies with them when he should have been in isolation? Whole thing reeks of bullshit.

Well if he did indeed have covid, which i highly doubt,he had shown absolutely zero duty of care for the health and welfare of those kids,as well as the fact he was caught out not mentioning his spanish sojourn which demonstrates he’s a confirmed liar.If he steps out on court for the first round,it would be a terrible terrible look given the restrictions and compliance the aussie public has had to endure, and i’ve got no idea why the immigration minister Hawke is not exercising his executive powers and giving him a 1 way ticket out of the country.

I would hazard a guess that it is partially about $$$ but also Morrison and his band of incompetents originally saw this as an opportunity to distract voters from their disasterous handling of every aspect of the pandemic by responding to the mob who didnt want Djokovich in the country. Populism in other words. Problem is the Federal Court ruled against their process and this has blown up in their faces because if Hawke throws him out it will spark an international incident ( which is one thing Morrison is quite skilled at - e.g France)
So my bet is that he will be allowed to stay and play . None of the parties have come out of this very well including the Vic Government and Tennis Australia. As for Djokovich, it is no surprise that he has used the loopholes in the system and he wonders why people don’t love him like Nadal and Federer… It would be so sweet if he got knocked out by a qualifier in round 1.
Of course it’s about the $ and big business! Morrison, whom is now on very skakey ground as the election draws closer, is he tried to do a John Howard trick. Which is why he made the ‘rules are rules’ statement. What Morrison conveniently forgot to show is the blatant inequality in his rules. Howard’s little stunt worked, whereas Morrison has flopped badly. One would have to ask the question of was the govt intervention really trying? I would be strongly betting it simply being a damn sideshow! Which is probably why old Kelly was really upset!
Australians have simply been taken for bloody fools!
And to top it all off, all you lovely obliging taxpayers are paying his legal costs too!
It ain’t over til the fat lady sings.
New statement on Novak’s fate: https://www.news.com.au/sport/tennis/novak-djokovic-court-case-system-crashes-as-world-tunes-in/news-story/6fead1f2c3b0ce707b4e83a2e13ef26b
Looking almost certain he has lied on his immigration form and made a false declaration about having not been in any other country, on that alone he will be cooked, that will be immediate Visa cancellation.
Whole thing stinks of shonky work by him Tennis Australia and Victoria Health just o get him in.
Looking a bit better for the prick.
Half a million $ all you taxpayers are paying for his legal costs. And now the story unfolding the Czek tennis player that was deported is now demanding compensation be paid to her because she had to return home! God knows how much taxpayers money is going to be given to her?

So this formal official is worried about the media circus that would follow if he is deported? A few days with a minority sooking in the streets and bitching on FB?
Big deal - much worse would be setting a precedent for every nut-job anti-vaxxer to start by-passing the rules

Should slate it home to Tennis Australia.
The powers that be botched the exemption process which led to the court ruling debacle, and if the government is worried about the international optics of deporting him because of sour grapes, they now have the gift of him deliberately perjuring himself on his declaration form, which gives them a legitimate reason to arsehole the lying prick out of the country.
A German newspaper has potentially uncovered more lies and appears Serbian health authorities could be behind it. It appears there’s been a lot of dodgy shit going on with the timing of his positive and negative tests for Covid.
It appears they switched the dates of the positive and negative test so he could fly to Australia. That on top of lying on his border pass declaration is inexcusable and it will be a total farce if the immigration department allows him to stay.
I think this saga is the final nail in the coffin for SloMo and his cohorts. Now brace yourselves for at least a couple of terms of the Australian Labor Party in power in Canberra.
Huge claim Novak’s Covid test ‘manipulated’: https://www.news.com.au/sport/tennis/australian-open/experts-suggest-novak-djokovics-positive-covid19-test-was-manipulated/news-story/a0c25d0babc10f347bbab1668034b347
just kick the low life scum out - take it on the chin Morrison
The courts decision to find in Novax’s favour was all to do with Border force not complying with their own instruction regarding a timeframe for Novax to provide a reason why his visa should not be revoked. They demanded his response well before the timeframe they had given him, so the judge said, BF pharked up, which was nothing to do with Novax, so threw the case out.
If BF are going to stipulate a time by which he had to respond then they must stick to it. If they had, we wouldn’t be having this discussion. It aint the feds or the states that carry the responsibility for this, it’s Border force and ultimately the minister responsible for Border Force needs to take disciplinary action and make sure we dont have a repeat of this massive clusterfuck.
If the immigration Minister finds “irregularities” in Novax’s documents or proof he has lied about having Covid and not doing iso before he came here then he needs to act asap and send this dickhead home with a do not return for 3 years penalty.
I think what we all want is for governments both federal and state to make the rules and stick to them. Don’t make exceptions for the rich and famous, treat everyone the same and we’ll all be happy. Federally that’s not happening as evidenced by this fiasco and also at state level with the likes of Kerry Stokes and Twiggy Forrest coming and going into WA with no restrictions. Treat us all the same and get on with it I say.
