Jared Risol

I incorrectly started this thread on another topic.
I think that it was Redlegs70 who first mentioned Jared Risol as a possible gain.
Very hard to find out too much about him .. 193cm 22yo KPP from Werribee Tigers.
Played more ressies than senior VFL. Found a pic of him.. good build etc and looks like a footballer, but, can he play??? Could be another expensive ressies player at 10 points ?? or could he be a real find ??
Does anyone know anything more about him? Is he a likely recruit?

The only info I have found is what was on the Werribee site.

I am assuming he has been recruited but he does not appear on the website as yet.

Got the following gains and losses from another site and he doesnt appear as a gain.

GAINS:
Jarrad Irons - AFL/Port Adelaide
Chance Bateman - Hawthorn
Dene White - returns
Tyson Rowling - West Perth
Kyle Reimers - AFL/Essendon
Jackson Sketcher - Frankston/VFL
Harrison Morgan - East Perth

LOSSES:
Jarrod Kayler-Thomson - Subiaco
Lane Spanderman - retired
Tim Noakes - country
Aaron Elari - Swan Districts
Ben Noakes - country
Dean Kent - AFL/Melbourne
Nick Lower - AFL/Western Bulldogs
Liam Smith - Claremont
Matt Rodgers - Swan Districts
Andrew McDougall - Subiaco
Ross Young - Victoria
Jaeger O’Meara - AFL/Gold Coast

So mid Jan is there more recruiting to come?
Hope there is as i think we desperately need it!
Its getting closer to the first scratchie.

My understanding is that Jared is at the club and training. I noticed a large bodied fellow on the track last week and was told by a club official that it was Jared Risol. He looked a good size and was out in front of the pack during one of the 3km time trials. Like everyone else, I hope he can also play!!
I was also advised that another lad had just walked in last week from another WAFL club, not a big name/reputation player, but I did recognise the name and have seen him play. He is a tall big bodied back-man and I think his playing history is probably 60% league and 40% reserves. Seems silly but I can’t remember his surname whilst writing this, it was a fairly common surname and there’s probably a few of them scattered throughout the league, so I won’t speculate on how I think it is. I understand that the club is still pursuing an established ruckman and a full-forward.
My honest assessment is that I think we will probably still struggle a bit this year (as per this time every year, I hope to God I’m wrong), but I will give the club some credit…they are definitely trying to turn things around.

Which club was the WAFL player from?

Peel

Yes, I think that I saw the same bloke and he was way out in front of the 3km trial. Certainly looked a good size and has a big tank so hopefully he can play.
I agree that the club is working very hard at turning things around in all aspects.I have been impressed with the discipline, commitment and focus being shown at training and that will need to be translated to performance in games once the season begins. Otherwise, De Jevu.
As far as recruiting is concerned it seems that this year has been very difficult for most clubs to attract highly rated players. We have done well to get Reimers, Bateman, and Irons from the AFL and Sketcher from the VFL.
It is pleasing that we are on the trail of an experienced ruckman and full forward. My main concern is whether or not we can add any height to the backline.

I agree with you Smokey; my main concern is our backline. I think our mid-field will be OK, but I’d prefer to see one more top class mid-fielder in there and obviously a recognised ruckman. In saying that Christian Eyres does look in first class nick and their are a few big lads training at the moment, but I’d prefer a recognised ruckman with Eyres and the others providing the support. I also think we will have enough options up forward to keep opposition back-men on their toes.
But without some really serious (and big) support down back I think we will still struggle to contain opposition key forwards. Just consider Peel and all those young talls that have just been gifted to them by Fremantle; if they all went and postioned themselves forward it would be a ‘david and goliath’ battle against us.

Which site was this 30 plus?

Yep the backline is probably most ordinary part of our squad. Hopefully Jarred Rissol is made official by the end of the week. Hope that ruckmen you mentioned is Andrew Ruck or someone of the same calibre. In regards to the other backman hopefully he is tall and big bodied like you said. Can you remember his name yet? haha :stuck_out_tongue:

With Rissol and ths backman from Peel, along with Holland, Salmon, Houghton and hopefully Zucconi and Billings that’s atleast 7 talls to chose from down there.

Mr AFL below is the site its been around for years.

Cheers 30 plus. Didn’t even know about this site.

Mr AFL, sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but I think that Zucconi is pretty much a non-starter and that there remains a big question mark over Billings playing on. Neither are officially confirmed as losses as yet, but I’d be surprised to see both this year. I hope I’m wrong on both counts but I have not spotted either at training. If I get to training one day this week and spot either of them I’ll certainly let people know. Also as far as I’m aware Salmon has moved on and at training last week Houghton had his fore-arm bandaged. I don’t know the extent of this set back, but it could be related to the fore-arm injury he suffered when at the Dockers?? The bandaging didn’t look overly serious.
I still can’t recall the name of the Peel guy and I don’t know if the ruckman they are still looking for is Andrew Ruck. My last information on him was identical to another poster on here - he was in ours (and other clubs) sights before Xmas but then heard he was going bush. Later heard that he may have had a change of heart about bush footy, but have heard nothing since.

Gee i mentined this(i was quoting what another poster had said the same as you) on another footy site a while back and got shot down very quickly accused of getting info i think if memory serves me right “off the dunny door”.

Our backline looks shaky with those 2 in it take them out and its pretty bloody ordinary to say the least.
If this is true they would be massive outs.
As far as i am concerned a tall Kpp has been required down back for years and we end up making do with what we have and get thumped when playing the teams with the good tall Kpp’s in there forward line.

Like others have stated our backline is a major problem and at this stage along with a couple of other glaring deficiencies we need to bring in outside recruits.

Players may look a million bucks out on the training track and against teammates but its how good they look against the real thing for premiership points that matter.

Agree 30Plus, we need a top class KP backman and without one we will always struggle against the Josh Smiths, Ash Hansen’s (retired), Chad Jones etc, etc. I think some of our other deficiencies can be ‘covered’ to a certain extent, but the backline is a glaring weakness. If it was me in charge I would throw the kitchen sink at securing a top class WAFL or ex-AFL backman (i.e. use the Centurions fund, the RWF or someone’s knickers if it helped the cause). I got a bit excited when Paul Bower’s name was on the radar a while back, but that didn’t come to pass.
I don’t really know much about what’s happening inside the club and I certainly don’t quote anything from the back of dunny doors; I just try to pop into training once in a while, see who’s out there and try and get a bit of player info out of other observers and the occaisional club official.

1961, that’s more than some people.

all this talk of rissoles is making me hungry…reckon i might knock some up tonight with mashed potatoes, vegies and gravy…

At the end of Novemeber I heard Zucconi was going back to Ammos and Billings was going Bush. They were still training up until mid December when I last went into watch training. I guess where there is smoke there’s fire but if they haven’t turned upto training after the Christmas break it’s a worrying sign.

Hopefully though at least one if not both stick around. Was hoping that we may have been able to use Zucconi up forward this season, providing we had Billings, Houghton, Holland and potentially Rissol and this big bloke from Peel.

Just quickly stopped in at training and I’m 99% sure that Billings was out there. The boys were training up at the John’s Building Supplies end of the ground and it was pretty hard to see them clearly (all in white singlets), but I’m fairly certain it was Chris. So I’m very happy to be proved wrong on that account.
Mr AFL I also spotted Zucca on the track early December and thought the rumours surrounding his departure false; unfortunately I have not seen him since.
The number of new faces on the track is quite incredible and from a distance you don’t really get a perspective of their height until you realise some of them are standing next to young Sandilands. The squad definitely looks taller to me, I hope they can surprise a few sides and opposition supporters this year (perhaps even a few of us!!)

Thanks 1961, good news.

I didn’t think Chris was going anywhere unless the umpires had finally got to him.
