Injury List

Updated 28/5 - Including Byes

Ewing 2 weeks
Simpson 2 weeks
(Both return to Ressies V Peel for 9th Game of Season)

Clarke 3 weeks
(Returns to Ressies V Peel for 9th Game of Season)

Avery 4 weeks
Phillips 4 weeks
(Both return to Ressies V Clarmont for 10th Game of Season)

C. Hall 10 weeks
(Returns to Ressies V WC for 15th Game of Season)

Constable 12 weeks
(Returns to Ressies V SF for 17th Game of Season)

Some of those blokes have been 2 weeks for a month.

You can add Jack Bodle 8 weeks facial fracture and Cody Howard hamstring to that list.

Yep I’ve learned to pay very little notice of our injury list. It’s a bit of a joke really.

Does anyone know what has happened to Sydney Stack?
He’s not on the Swans injury list but doesn’t appear to have been playing.

Might have other priorities. Got a kid coming soon.

Clarke, Simpson, Avery and Ewing all listed as “Test” and Constable as ankle 6 weeks. We live in hope.

All the clubs injury lists are a bit silly. It’s not only Perth’s. Sometimes one can see a player named as a “test”. However he could be “testing” for weeks on end. Cannot take too much notice of the injury lists for a players resumption as far too many inaccuracies.

Given that was just updated this morning I’d say that’s up to date. I’m expecting Clarke and Simpson to play league if passed fit and I’d say the club has taken the long approach and given them until after last week’s bye.

Avery and Ewing however are coming off long term injuries and I’d say will get managed minutes in the magoos and Ewing in particular will most likely play a few reserves games before being considered.

Expect Scoble and Hill to be available this week also.

Scoble in Hill to country football.

Agreed DF.

So Hill has left the club? We’ve cleared him? I don’t know that Scoble would come straight back in. If A Clarke plays, then I would move Johnston to full back - a forward line of Q, Chaplin, Clarke and Johnston would be too top heavy, especially with possible rain on Saturday. Chaplin was the least heralded of our recruits, but has been very good. An option might be to play Chaplin off the bench as back up to Edwards. We are still really struggling with the small forward position. I would have suggested trying Hill, but that may be moot. Maybe try Hine-Baston. Otherwise, Kemp is probably the default choice - I don’t think Bodle or Hayward are up to it.

If Johnson plays full back, we have Sog at CHB, and I can’t see where Scoble fits in. I think our best back 6 is: Cogs, Johnston, Sing/ Taylor, Sog, Avery. So Brogan-Henry and Scoble miss out. The only option there might be to try Avery on a wing.

Hill, is not a defensive player IMHO.
Maybe we do try him up forward as the small forward option.
What I don’t like is players that thinking putting one hand in to a contest is hard at it football.
Successful teams are those that are hard at the contest and put their bodies on the line.
Hill needs to get serious or try country football.
He certainly has some skills.

That is insane

is it Elijah or Oscar that’s been cleared. Where have Hill and one of the Scoble’s been cleared to?

I think there’s some confusion here, DF. I read your post as meaning that Scoble would (or should) be back in the league team, and that Hill was going to play country footy. Others have taken it to mean that both of them are playing country. However, your second post suggested that Hill is still around but should play country unless he pulls his finger out. (I agree with that - I think his progress as a player has stalled) Some clarity, please?

If we ever get a chance to play our full strength side this season it may look something like this.

Coniglio Johnstone Taylor.
Avery Schlensog Manzone.
Davis Thompson Simpson.
Stubbs Chaplin Wills.
Kemp A.Clarke Quartermaine.
Edwards Constable Byrne.
Int. Cooley Sing R.Clarke Scoble or J.Cark depending on conditions and opponent.

Ted my apologies for the confusion.
My post was meant to express my wish for Scoble to come back in.
He has been very good and I think he is a priority for development.
As for Hill, I am not a fan. The comment was meant to indicate I don’t see him as a long term player.
If you read my later post it may further clarify my thoughts.

Cheers, DF. I also rate Scoble, but if we have all our talls available, I don’t know we can play all of them. The only option might be to move Johnston to full back, Scoble CHB, and Sog at CHF. Clarke and Q play deeper forward. (I doubted Q last season, but he has changed my mind. Set shot kicking is errant but he is taking contested marks in dangerous spots). Chaplin plays second ruck off the bench, with a few stints in the forward line.

I have said before that Hill is one of a few players who seems to be treading water. I can’t see any improvement in him, Philip (gone for the season anyway) or Brogan-Henry. Cachard might need a spell too - hopefully a long term player for us, but with a combined 27 disposals in his last 4 games, he has dropped off and might benefit from finding a bit of the footy in the reserves.

Ted, I have never rated Johnston.
But having seen Scoble last year in Colts and how he has stood up under pressure at senior level I rate him in front of Johnston.
His ability to read the play is very good and he doesn’t drop his head.
Having said that Johnston has taken a couple of good grabs lately.
But he has also butchered kick at goal from 25 metres.
Sog, I would play back as much as I could he is a very good general and is super calm under pressure.
Chaplin has been a revelation, somebody knew something.
He is on the ground as much as I can get him on there.
Just my thoughts.

I like what I saw of Ben Fairbank on debut. He is a solid build and was cool and confident. I want to see some more of him.
