Favourite Bands/Music

Seeing as the Favourite Movies & TV Shows have been done here I thought it might be good to start a topic to list your favourite all time bands/music over the years?

Where do I start BH?

My music taste is quite wide and varied. Love listening to classical music especially in these times, Vivaldi’s four seasons is a go to. Then theres the Beatles and the Stones as well as a lot of the Motown music. Some of the 70’s and 80s stuff I got into included Jackson Browne, Elton John, Billy Joel, Eurythmics, Michael Jackson, AC/DC, Cold Chisel and Midnight Oil. More recently I have enjoyed Snow Patrol, Greenday, Living End, The Killers, Hilltop Hoods and Birds of Toyko. So many more …

I really do show my age when it comes to music. Was listening to 92.9+93.7 the other day at work.Where has the Blues rock, rock and reggae +pop gone.
All music from the 1960’s+70’s+80’s.Fantastic era for British +Australian+American bands. My radio station is 96fm or 94.5.In the car it’s DAB 96fm 80’s or 70’s.
There’s so many alternative music genres these days.Long live the Easybeats+Harry Vanda + the late George Young +George Albert who set up Australian music for over 2 decades.

Almost exclusively classical these days, unless I am reading something and it leads me off to a nostalgic YouTube visit to the 60’s onwards.

Right now I am streaming the Classic FM (from London) Top 300 for 2019-20, and they are down to about #60. https://www.classicfm.com/radio/playlist/

My go-to composer of the moment is Rachmaninov, and in particular Symphony #2, and Piano Concertos 2 & 3. Number 3 is the one that features in the David Helfgott biopic movie Shine.

This is my favourite pianist when watching and listening to Rachmaninov (and anyone else). :stuck_out_tongue:

Your taste in music is as good as your taste in football teams Mike…great list.

GTR if you are ever in the South West Triple M is always worth a good listen for music.

Creedence Clearwater Revival

ccr is one of the few yank bands I like

In no particular order, Joe Bonnamassa, Santana, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Beatles, Stones, Mumfords and Sons, John Butler, Chicago, Joe Cocker, Hendrix, Foo Fighters ACDC, Easybeats etc etc etc etc.

Favourite classical is Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers, particularly the duet Au Fond du temple saint, Samuel Barbers Adagio for strings, Pachelbel’s Canon, pretty much anything from Mozart.

Was just reading Wikipedia. As I didn’t know what was the biggest decade for Aussie music.Had a guess it was the 1970’s or 80’s.
It was the 1980’s lead by Aussie Pub Rock.Cold Chisel-Angels-Men at Work,Icehouse,Saints,Mental as Anything, Australian Crawl,Church,Goanna,Party Boys,Air Supply ,Inxs.Hoodoo Gurus. And solos from those bands i.e. Jimmy Barnes+Ian Moss,James Rayne.
In the 70’s we had AC\DC,Skyhooks,Sherbet.Master Apprentices, John Paul Young,Stevie Wright,BeGees,Olivia N John,Flash in the Pan…Both decades where very good for Aussie music.

CCR’s lead singer namesake was a 3 time Premiership player for the Black & Whites-
Jon Fogarty.

Good topic BH…Loved CCR, Pink, Dido, Simply Red, U2, Cranberries, REM, some old Divinyls stuff, Joe Cocker, Billy Joel, Springsteen and the list goes on.
