Cody Leggett

Well according to Russell Reid’s article in today’s West Cody’s dispute with Perth is he wants to play in a different position. Well I’m sure if an AFL club asked him what position do you want to play he would say I’m prepared to play anywhere the coach wants me or needs me, I’m prepared to play my role etc…

Sounds to me like the EF coach has got in his head and poisoned his mind. Fuck off Bill and leave our young players alone. Develop your own you fucken scab. Pull your head in Cody and be grateful you got a club that loves you and supports you.

Welcome back Garry Moss to the Demons as a senior assistant who previously had a stint at the club as an assistant coach. I wonder if that appointment might be a view to a future senior coach?

Surely this article is a mere delusion of fantasyland grandeur? My money is on whatever DF says TBH.

I guess after 7 years development at Perth and most of them under Spalding, Cody thinks a change of club and position may actually improve his last gasp AFL aspirations DD…more so since 5 EF boys have just had their AFL aspirations fulfilled in the last 48 - 72 hrs.

Perth may love Cody but Cody doesn’t feel the same way. Cody loves East Fremantle and Bill now. Best not to stand in the way and make a big scene. You just end up looking needy and desperate and Cody will find you even more unattractive.

Oh well if the contracted Cody doesn’t want to play for us in 2020 then go bush or amateurs for the year we’ll still get our 10k for him in 2021.
Reckon most of the other wafl clubs would applaud us for taking such a stance,I know all Demon supporters would.

Can feel that Perth love and support oozing out of that post 30+…the kid has aspirations for the AFL, Perth have had a good 7 year crack at it to no success, so not sure the problem with looking elsewhere for one last crack at it…but understand the Perth fans need to crush the kids aspirations…come end of the day the club is always gonna be bigger than the individual.

Ti Em, again you EF guys really struggle with the concept of a contract. You seem to think that Leggett’s wishes are the only consideration. It is important, not just for us, but for all WAFL clubs, that contracts mean something. Would you feel the same way if one your best contracted players wanted to come to Perth and we offered a standard transfer fee plus Mitch Browne and Che Wyatt? You think Leggett will resent Perth. Maybe he will. That’s footy. Grow up. Maybe he’ll resent EF for not valuing him enough to make a realistic offer. $10k plus Quill? Give me a break.

Contracts can be broken and there is no point in keeping a player who does not want to stay at your club - if anything, you need to grow up and come to terms with that. The quicker Perth does this the better off all parties will be. Cody will fulfill his desire of playing for the blue and whites, East Fremantle will bolster its senior list and Perth will have removed a player who does not want to be there. East Fremantle you will find does not stand in the way of players who want out nor do they force them to join perennial bottom feeders.

LOL…Ted, that Quill reference was merely a piss take mate, mainly because it is common knowledge Quill is seeking a move to Perth, so hopefully EF will not stand in his way and deprive the kid his wish.

Ti Em, sounds like a win win for all concerned mate, nothing worse than a player on your list not wanting to be there.

Perhaps we could start with why he wants to leave. ‘Diffetent position’ obvious nonsense for a player used as genuine utility last season. Sure I can understand him wanting to be far away enough from goals to not hurt a side with stinking inaccuracy and any shots on goals are from 90 metres out and potential highlights reel fillers with no downside but come on… real reason please.

And ef can have him, for right player swap as Ted says.

Over to you sharks.

Huge applause actually mate - quite simply he is contracted and that is it even an arbitrator has no option in this one
Monaghan has not learned anything it seems

So I gather perth have received a clearance from east fremantle for chris masten and now want to play hard ball on Leggett.sounds fair.

It is fair, one player is a contracted player the other wasnt.

Crush the kids aspirations, give us a break
Yeah like going to East freo will be living the dream.

Joining the “Shark Frenzie” yeah like thats going to give him a better chance at getting picked up,theres reasons why he hasnt been drafted up to now,AFL clubs do there homework on players but hey joining the Sharks will put him well and truely under the Richmond spotlight.

East Freo want to pay him overs i suspect thats where the motivation to move comes from.

still has to get a transfer/transfer fee.

TBH I blame sides like SF in this…this year EF should of gotten over 150K for their draftees, of which a decent sum could of been used to expedite Leggets wishes… but no the money goes back into a communal pot for clubs like SF to scab the proceeds for producing fark all talent this year…I reckon SF should do the the decent thing and offer up Mason Shaw in the Leggett deal to compensate for dipping their hands into the draftee pot looking for freebie handouts…

Those clubs who lose players to the draft should make a stance against those clubs who produce nothing in a given year and act as scabs…Farking disgraceful SF have the nerve to do an Oliver Twist TBH and one of their fans comes on here acting all righteous and sticking their thieving grubby bulldog noses into the debate…LOL

Be careful what you wish for Southerner. I think you’ll find SF are trying to recruit a contracted player from another club as well

He wanted to leave last year too..I reckon cut him loose if he doesn’t want to be there..players can be a toxic influence if they want to be somewhere else,he’s no world beater

Its got nothing to do with Transfers/Transfer fees, its got to do with contracted and non contracted players, theres a huge difference and if people want to say “contracts arent worth the paper there written on” then id like to see the PFC test this saying.

But hey Chaddy if you want an entire East Perth list on a “hand shake” deal only,id love to see that.

dig your heels in but you still have to deal with the sharks on masten and they may not be easy to deal with.
