Big finish to home & away games

Well here we are. 1 week out from finals and still 7 sides in contention.

I think there might be a couple of upsets in the last round. I’m predicting EP to beat Subi and EF to beat Swans. South to beat us and Claremont to beat WP. That will mean week 1 of finals SF v Peel and EP v SD.

I wonder whether Subi subscribe to the theory “the loss we needed to have” or will they go undefeated for possibly 21 games. Would love to knock em off again in the GF but Souths will be hard to beat.

Time will tell, should be a ripping finish.

another WAFL premiership will double the silverware in the Dockers otherwise bare trophy cabinet.

I know Peels finals team will differ from the one v EF last weekend…but really can’t see them getting past SF…the available Freo guys are far different to the lot last year available to Peel…mainly youngsters this year

This time next week Freez I believe we will be in a better position to judge how much of a threat the Freo reserves will be in the finals. Their League will be defunct and on holidays and hopefully they advise the WAFC who will be released for WAFL finals?

They already said Bennel would be good to go, don’t worry they will have a few dollars worth of players running around in the finals:cheer:

Rookie, I would be disappointed if Subi drop this game, there is massive competition for spots in the finals team with a number of quality players just coming back from injury that will be busting a gut to get back in the league. But in saying that the ferals have everything to gain and will throw everything at us … at least early in the game. The key is for Subi to get on top early and with scoreboard pressure the listed boys at EP have shown a tendency to put the cue in the rack for fear of injury, lets hope so. Your mob is one AFL reserves team too many in the finals, for the sake of the comp we don’t need 2.

Gday BC, please keep your posts on topic. This topic is about the finish to the WAFL H&A season it has nothing to do with the Dockers trophy cabinet.

If you don’t want to comment in line with the topic please refrain from posting as it leads to others going off track as well which is the case here.

Future posts that are off topic will be deleted. Thanks in anticipation.

Competition for spots is a good point however being the last week of the season I don’t think fear of injury will play a part.

Not sure what you mean by for the sake of the comp you don’t want Peel & East Perth in the finals. I would have thought its best to have the best sides playing in the finals. Crowd wise EP seem to still have one of the biggest followings so comp wise it’s probably a good thing.

Anyway each to their own. Good luck for the next couple of weeks.

Gday BC, please keep future posts on topic. Your comment is clearly off topic and inaccurate. Thanks in anticipation.

Gday RD…why is it off topic? I was referring to your comment on knocking Subi off in the GF which I agree is mere speculation on your part but apart from that, everything else I’ve posted on this thread is factual.

Thanks in anticipation.

RD what I mean is that either AFL reserves team loaded up with 15 AFL listed players is not good for the comp as those teams don’t properly represent the WAFL comp or the young local players who have toiled most of the year for your mob and will miss out on finals spots which are gifted to the pampered AFL blokes.

Not wanting to harp on the point but 15 professional footballers with access to professional coaching , medical , physiotherapy , sports science , nutritional experts , welfare officers , boot studders gooness knows whatever elase they get versus semi professionals…hardly a fair competition

careful boys…if we’re not talking about a “big finish to home and away games” Peel’s finest will growl at us notwithstanding he raised the point I made about beating Subi in this year’s GF and he’s asked SS a specific question…look out here he comes.

Perhaps let your president know your concerns as I don’t think he was too worried about that when he voted for the alignment in 2012.

You’re a wise man BC. You know the answer so why ask the question.

interesting comments you made to SS…I’ve stated on here before I’m not anti-alignment as I understand completely why the AFL clubs would want to go down that path. What I’m very concerned about are the qualification rules for WAFL finals. I don’t think we should make them so tough that an alignment side never gets to play finals but I think last years debacle was at the opposite end of the spectrum. What the answer is I don’t know and I’d be interested in your thoughts RD but clearly as it’s a WAFL competition, to qualify aligned players must have played more WAFL than AFL during the season as a start…so in general terms that means they’d need to play at least 12 or so games unless they had a period of injury. By putting something like that in place guys who qualify would be able to resonate to the WAFL comp through experience unlike those who drop back to find some form, play their 5 games before going back into the AFL and are playing WAFL finals.

Looking forward to this weekend RD alias John Ditch.

BC What about the following scenario:

if EP make the finals would you allow Nic Naitanui play in the WAFL finals this year?
