Shambolic start to BBL 11.With CA scheduling an Australia A fixture. That clashed with the start of the BBL.Keeping the likes of T20 World Cup star, Mitch Marsh out of the first 2 matches.
Game 3 for the Scorchers seeing MM score 100 0f 60 balls. At Bloodstone down in Tassie. After two strong wins V Heat at Optus and V Adelaide at the Sydney Showground.. Colon Munro with a big 100.The game was played in front of 0 fans. Some Nsw Covid regulation.
Theres a possibility of one more Scorchers home game .V The Hurricanes there current opposition. On the 22nd of December, seems unlikley at this point. So the Scorchers will be based on the East Coast for the rest of BBL X1.
The Hurricanes are currently 7/88…With English recruit Callam Mills in the wickets for Perth.Well done to AJ Tye on 100 BBL wickets.
The BBL will not be played during the Adelaide day/night test.
Saw an interview by one of the Scorchers the other night and he was saying they thought they were going away for the match, but turned out it was going to be a 2 month stretch. The other teams will love not having to play them on our home ground because they’re burning atm, but the away factor may take its toll. They’ve got some really big hitters and the inclusion of Mills into the bowling stock is a real plus. Hope they can hold it together….ya gotta love the BBL for some really great light entertainment.
Another solid performance by the Scorchers..4/4 now with a solid batting, bowling+fielding performance.
CA have considered adding two new teams for BBLX11.Another from Qld+Nsw..But have changed there mind now..With two sides from NZ being added. One from Auckland,Christurch.
They look pretty formidable with a squad which has a lot of depth and variety. Their bowling has always been good and the new inclusions in Mills and Hatsaglou have settled in well and provide both wicket taking and economy. The difference this year is that the batting has been far more consistent and there have been contributions from Marsh, Munro, Patterson, Bancroft, Evans and Turner. The only disappointment is that they will not play any more games at home.
Here is an idea to improve the ordinary BBL.
Get rid of the silly 2 extra teams in Sydney (Thunder) and Melbourne (Renegades) and bring in Canberra making it a proper State Competition again.
There is just nowhere near enough quality talent available for 8 teams in Australia with our Internationals virtually ruled out.
I am not sure the Thunder or Renegades add anything tbh!
And as GTR suggested amybe look at adding teams from NZ making it an Australasian T20 League.
As it pretty much stands at the moment it is pretty dull and tired and really is only being played by state players not good enough for the Test squad made up with some grade cricket players and a couple of c/d grade internationals but from only a certain couple of countries!
BH I was listening to the Scorchers on the CA app last night. The two Tassie commentators said two NZ teams is a go for next year.
Adding the UnZud teams will bring in quality players and more sponsorship dollars from NZ companies, plus TV in NZ will pay good dollars for the rights. Agree regarding dropping the extra Sydney and Melbourne teams, less local teams means a better spread of quality.
Scorchers have won a high scoring match V the Renegades. And are now 5/5.Big innings from Evans and Mitch Marsh. Saw 60 runs from the last 4 overs.
Maddison and Finch chased well .And got within 20 runs of Perths total of 210.
After this Marvel Stadium clash.Perth SC are being based by CA at Metricon,Gold coast home Ground.
Was some awesome batting from both sides. How long can the Scorchers keep this up?
Will be tough 58 .But staying on the Gold coast fulltime now.Probably in a bubble like all the other sports.. The Afl sides went ok with that in Perth.

They seem to be a pretty close group and I wonder how long before Marsh gets an Australian call up.
58…Marsh did mate…he played in that winning T20 WC side…As for tests…not sure who he replaces…but good to see him playing some big innings consistently…about time…
58..He’s an Aussie white ball cricketer these days..But I do think International and BBL finals will cross over for a week ,after the Hobart test.So Perth will lose him probably before the semi final.
Lads, question for all you cricket experts, could Cam Green be the third fast bowler in the world T20 next year? Certainly strengthens your batting and bowls 140kmh out swingers so no mug as a third fast bowler.
Love your thoughts on that one
PH, surely Mitch Marsh has that role covered mate…though 4 overs per match shouldn’t tax Green’s body too much I guess…
Pretty piss poor effort by the Scorchers tonight. Tye banned after one and a half overs, bowlers all over the place and errors galore. Just a bad night, or are they starting to wear out?

Just a bad night I reckon 58shark, I suppose we will see how they respond to that in their next game. They just seemed to be out of sorts exemplified by Tye’s unusual lapses. Thunder batted aggressively particularly Billings. The Scorchers batsmen did pretty well to bat out the 20 overs after being 4 - 40.
It would be an understatement to say that Ben McDermott is in pretty good touch for the Hobart Hurricanes.
His past three innings have been 67 (43 balls), 110no (60 balls) and 127 run out (65 balls) just a few minutes ago.
Tonights BBL Melbourne Stars vs Perth match has been cancelled.Around two hours ago.A Melbourne Stars support worker has tested positive to COVID 19.The worker has been around the team the last few days. Its believed it was contracted up in Brisbane a few days ago,the stars last fixture.
That’s a bugger, I was looking forward to see how the Scorchers would back up after that uncharacteristic game the other night.
I see match referee David Boon has tested positive and will miss the 4th test.
