Geez that was a tad tough on Turner and his effort to “catch” Peake…surely Turner had the ball in hand long enough to show it was a catch?..what was he mean’t to do when he fell? Common instinct action when someone has a FOOSH…poor decision
Good win by the Scorchers tonight. The Bison and Finn Allan set the scene smashing the Strikers bowlers all over the park.
Cameos from Inglis and Hardie.
Then after a good start by Carey and Short,it looked like another big score run down.
But the bowlers began to squeeze. Losing Short was a blow for them and then they lost wickets on a regular basis.
Wickets shared,by Panye, 3, Beardman, 2, Richo, Connoly and Hardie.

Last couple of Optus wickets have been disappointing,T20 pitches.
Fitst time a team has scored 200+ ,3 times.In a BBL season.
Great to see Alex Carey step up for the Strikers.No break after the test summer.He couldn’t wait to get out their.
Interesting Cam Greene doesn’t have a Scorchers contract.But is one of the highest paid players in the IPL.
Green may not have a contract because of constrictions from CA, because of his previous back issue.
Mind you, I am only guessing.

@gtrxuone , the young leggie they played could develop into something.
His first few deliveries were ordinary but he settled pretty quickly.
Ever since being picked in the WC T20 squad…Connolly can’t buy a run, after his hot start…taking regular wickets though at a decent economy as well…
I think Green and Head are the only two in the T20 World Cup squad that played the full Ashes series and the T20 World Cup squad takes off soon to Dubai for a training camp so CA didn’t release him for the 2-3 BBL games

The commentators couldn’t believe he didn’t have an IPL contract.
Carey definitely should have been in Australia’s T20 squad - he’s in career best form with bat and gloves.
Only selecting one keeper in our T20 squad is mind boggling - presume Maxwell or Head will have to keep if a back up is needed during the tournament. With Cummings, Hazelwood named but questions over their fitness I’m hoping the Aussie selectors might bring Carey in.
There are plenty of very good players who don’t get selected for the IPL for what ever reason…

So Josh Inglis after playing three test during the ashes is" managed". Mitch Starc played all five tests is allowed to play in the BBL.
Marnus, Uzzie, Carey, and others all allowed to play BBL.
I guess we will find out why the discrepency.
I guess Inglis is playing in the T20 WC next month and not Starc Anchor…though it certainly doesn’t make sense resting Inglis after his bit part Ashes involvement…and Starc plays all 5 tests and deemed ok to play BBL.
Smith as well. Is he part of the T20 team?

Mitchell Marsh (c), Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Cameron Green, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis (wk), Matthew Kuhnemann, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa.
Inglis had been released for a few Scorchers matches in between and after Test duties, Scored 42 in the last Scorchers game, been pulled for this match.
Outside of their base CA contracts which vary from ~$400k to $2m per annum, players get paid per match - Test $20k, ODI $15k and T20 $10k. Add in performance bonuses too. Non-playing squad members i.e 12th & 13th man get a good percentage (~75%) of the match fee to carry the drinks and substitute field.

Cam Green is interesting, he does not have a BBL contract even though he is in the T20 squad for the world cup,
I do not recall ever seeing him in Scorchers colours.
