Thats why his nickname back in the day was Cassius Cable, after the greatest sporting self promoter of all time.
Cable always talked about how good he was, but he could certainly back up his words, at least from a playing pov.

Yep he signed a footy to auction for charity, before he handed it over he insisted wrote every accolade he had received all over it in texta, all the medals, games, gfs you name it, like he knew them by heart, it was almost hilarious in a way.
I can tell you that Barry Cable showed us skills and how to play the game when we were at school. I didn’t know much about the bloke but he was strictly football with us, I just knew he was a bloody good wafl footballer. Lorne Cook also came to the school, I still remember him in his Claremont attire. I feel for the Perth supporters, I would be devastated if Bill Dempsey was accused of the same or even the great Stephen Michael from south’s.
Freezin is on the money with his comments. The Brits also hid a PM, sadly. Having been down to Perth over the years, last thirty, I can say, club the has never eulogised Cable. It is more of a Victorian thing. He would be in the top two or three to have played in WA

Lucky man Winger, wish we had those sort of blokes come to our school! We had Dale Reeves haha what a funny kent, he showed us how to win fights instead of games and how to king hit the wrong bloke. Seriously I wouldn’t mess with him though back in the day
Funny story about Dale Reeves DG. The season after he got rubbed out for whacking Cormack in the GF he came down to CBC where I was playing Ammos. The late, great Peter Cattalini was toying with the idea of getting him to suit up with us although not sure how that would have worked given he was rubbed out for a zillion years at the time.
I always remember that he must have put his footy shorts on when he was 5 and grew into them as they were they were the tightest I’ve ever seen and he certainly had Warrick Capper covered. When he farted it sent a ripple down his leg they were that tight. ![]()
Someone earlier said it was now seven accusers that have now come forward. I think it is still just the five.
I still am shaking my head that someone can be blaming young kids for being the reason these alleged events happened.
In today’s Worst Australia it was seven. Hes living with his brother, i wont say the area.
May be right then. Last I heard on TV, it was five.
Considering Cormack weighed about 30 kg less then Bomber, can’t fathom how Reeves could even mistake the two…the .only way SF would of won that day, is if Reeves had been able to count properly.
Surely Cable will have to go down for this if found guilty…it’s a pity those allegedly protecting him at the time, can’t go down with him…
Apparently closing submissions have been called. The judges wording decision going to be interesting.
Haha yes BC I remember how tight his shorts were when he played for souths. It looked like he painted them on.
Freeze he obviously wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, I still can’t believe what he was saying to us, we were u/12’s!
Times sure have changed
This has gone quiet. Any news floating around?
The hearing finished last Friday and the judge has reserved his decision. No timeline on when he will make the decision public.

As mike wrote, the case finished friday after the final submissions were called.
Not sure when the old judge will make a determination. Have kept an ear on the radio speaker today and not heard anything.
Could be a couple of weeks or maybe several months before a decision is made public knowledge.
I’ve seen where it’s been said Judge Herron could take months to bring his final determination.
Dirty old pedo grub should be locked up & the corrupt cops that swept the filthy pigs behaviour under the carpet should be exposed for their corrupt actions.
Couple of factors involved in why Cable may not have been charged with a criminal offence by the DPP and that civil case has now been heard.
The law has only been change relatively recently that removed the statute of limitations on sexual assault cases. Previously one was in place that may have prevented any charges being laid once these women came forward as adults to discuss their childhood assaults.
Secondly now the statute of limitations has been removed there is a much lower burden of proof required in a civil case than a criminal case. With potentially no DNA evidence available and the duration of time having passed, a guilty verdict in a criminal case may have been hard to achieve with a jury.
Bad news for Mr Cable you would think. Ex Penrhos teacher found guilty of historic grooming and sexual assaults on 5 former students. All based on hearsay and no physical evidence or witnesses. He tried to lay the blame on them saying they did inappropriate gestures towards him like kissing him and flashing their breasts. Pathetic.
This case puts the heat on Judge Herron and the cops.
Cable’s day of judgement is coming, finally. Astonishingly another woman has come forward unrelated to the other 5 who came forward in the civil case. She is the one bringing these new criminal charges. This girl was aged 9 and 10 at the time of the alleged offences. Incredibly in 1967 and 68 when Cable was at the height of his powers winning Simpson medals in all three premiership wins against East Perth from 1966-68.
