that strange tractor accident looks very suspect now
Apparently Police have charged Cable this afternoon with abuse after he supposedly assaulted a girl about 1967/ 68. It’s been reported the girl was 9 or 10 years old at the time.
This comes after Cable was found by a Judge in a previous Civil case, to have sexually abused another girl which started when she was 12 at the time.
It’s been reported he is to appear in Court next week.
Hopefully the Court can find out who swept it all under the carpet in the first place!!?
The good thing is this time he is going to have to front up to court and face the music and the huge media throng that will be waiting for him.
Unlike the civil case where he didn’t show up to defend himself instead sending one of his sons who was shot down by the judge telling him you cannot speak for your father he eventually has to turn up himself if he wants to defend himself.
He didn’t care because he declared himself bankrupt. You would think they have investigated his finances and assets to see if he shifted money and assets into a trust or another family members name.
He doesn’t get this luxury this time because he is facing a lengthy sentence in jail if found guilty so one would expect he will turn up on Thursday. But my gut feeling is he will be found guilty but then all the usual bullshit will come out about his age, suddenly he’ll have some health ailments, excuses will be made about how vulnerable he will be if imprisoned and because he is a person of great notoriety blah blah blah and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he was granted home detention like a parolee or at worst sent to a low security prison farm like where Bondy and Burky ended up. Wooroloo prison farm. I’m sure there’ll be some tractors or a ride on mower he can play with.
Still, to be found guilty of such offences would be damning and being placed on a sex offender list and having your freedom taken away this late in life with probably no prospect of parole would be a humiliating and a devastating way to see out your once decorated and much celebrated life where everyone showered you with adulation.
But those alleged victims would be saying, good riddance.
My guess is he won’t have to front up on Thursday and his legal aid lawyer will be there to represent him. It will just be a preliminary hearing to lay down the foundations of the case. Be interesting to see who he gets to represent him. My tip is Claremont killer defence counsel Paul Yovich.

He will be coaching the prison team.
Pretty flash house you are living in in Shelly Barry. Bankrupt but can afford Tom Percy KC? Well.
Percy will be doing it free for him - he normally represents ex EPFC players for free.

No chance, big difference between representing EP players at a tribunal and an ex player/coach on serious child sex offences in the Perth Magistrate Court.
Percy has probably agreed to do it for legal aid rates. That’s his gift for a former flag winning coach. Could well be funded by the Aboriginal legal service.
He does criminal matters as well for footy players.
I know for a fact he represented a former EPFC Sandover Medal winner on serious charges.
He is a bankrupt so he would qualify for Legal Aid, and ALS as well although you dont get to pick and choose the top KC in town.
Apparently is due to reappear in Court on the 8th August from what I’ve heard.
I wouldn’t gloat about securing the services of T shirt Tom cheaply or otherwise………..I’ve noticed over the years he hasn’t got the greatest winning strike rate, and they certainly don’t base Queen now Kings counsel titles on win loss ratios.
Barry Cable not the only member of the Cable family implicated in alleged sex offences against minors. Brother Vincent Cable part of a 1.2 million dollar payout to an aboriginal woman who was a ward of the state. It’s all coming out now.

Bazza, those charges couldn’t of been that serious mate for that ex EP Sandover medallist mate…pretty easy to whittle out a few possibilities, none of which made headlines for non footy deeds…or is this another footy god corruption cover up? Sadly a few too many of those from back in the day that were swept under the rug.
It made news, it was a nasty incident - but not as serious as Cables,

He does seem to be more about media profile and yeah he picks these things up for the publicity.

Yes old Tom loves being the “media darling”but I’ll give him his due he did tip me a winner at the Bunbury races about a quarter of a century ago, which he said was his horse, but when I looked at the race book,he was one of about a dozen owners,so he probably owned a bit of his tail.
The bloke is always defending filth. That’s how he makes a living. No different here.
