Looks like the Aussies will go into the test with at least two changes for the first test beginning tomorrow night.
Inglis and Konstas look like making the 11.
A battle for batting spots is interesting. One would assume that Konstas will open with Khawaja. Does Inglis take Greens spot at 3!
If so, where does Green bat? Does he stay in the team.l
I think that Webster will maintain the all rounders spot.
Will the selectors go with two spinners and two quicks?
Kuhnemann was a success against Sri Lanka, will he get another chance to show his wares?
Can’t fkn wait for this test series to start. This is the ultimate game. Fk football where blokes hide behind goal posts for half the game. If you want tough, you play cricket.
You can’t hide on a cricket field.
Two changes? Should be six. The WI have Roston Chase as captain which I reckons sums up how badly they are going at the moment. This is the series to try things out. But nup, business as usual. Ronald probably surveyed the players to see what they thought.
Hope Nathan McSweeney, Henry Hunt, Marcus Harris, Xavier Barlett, Lance Morris, Corey Rocchiccioli etc etc enjoy watching the tests as much as I do.
Searching for the laughing emoji.LOL
OHHH there it is.
won’t surprise me if Australia get beaten in this series
it sort of sits in the wings with this squad
Will be intetesting to see who bats 3 - 5 tonight. Inglis and Green aint 3’s, Green has a FC batting average of 49 at 4 or 5. Inglis in the mid 30’s battong at 5 - 7. Head needs to step up as the senior 3-5 batsman, everyone seems to of forgotten he too failed in the final.
A WI series loss, may please some folk, but won’t change a thing for the Ashes starting 11 at Optus…an Ashes series defeat will definitely see change…on and off the field. But for now Aust fans got to hope for stability, the likes of Konstas, Inglis and Green cam have productive series v WI, and leep their spots for Optus. Bowling wise, the likes of Bartlett, Richardson, and Morris need to stay fit, and hope Starc and Hazlewood bodies deteriorate…spinning wise Lyon needs to do another calf…and let Rocchiccioli, Murphy, Sangha and Kuhnemann have a crack.
Just read that Green is locked in at 3.
Not sure that Lyon will be pushed out easily unless there is a change in the selection panel.
But it looks like there is a good reserve of options. I like the way Roccochelli bowls. He could be a replacement. Also Kunnemann bowled well in SL.
I have a feeling the Ashes will be the farewell for either Starc or Hazlewood, or maybe both.
with the poms chasing 350 in the 4th innings last night v India we run the risk of losing the ashes 4 nil with Rain washing Sydney out. Thier quicks are good, but their batters are very good. As we saw at lords recently if there isn’t much in the wicket our bowlers can’t get breakthrough’s but if there is something in the wicket our batters can’t hit it off the square
May be right, but thePoms seem to find issues with the bouncy wickets here in Australia.
And I am sure the pitches, with out favouring the Aussies, will be a fair bit more hostile than English wickets.
Their quicks will get something, but they will not be bowling with their favoured Dukes ball.
But you are right about our bowlers on dead wickets. They struggle.
PH that is because England have prepared with an eye for the upcoming Ashes by moving on the likes of veterans Broad & Anderson whilst we continue on with the Dads Army XI.
I agree 4-0 is on the cards this summer!
180
A far cry from past years
Green yet another failure
And why would you put Inglis at 4 and throw him to the wolves
Flogs up top there absolute flogs
Throwing Green to the wolves as well. Surely McSweeny could have been given a chance.
Failures all round by imcompetence. Three experiments, all failed.
Surely if Konstas had this inswinger problem in under 19s , one of the coaches could/would/ Should have had it worked out and solved the problem.
He is like a lamb to the slaughter.
Think we all need to take a deep breath. Its only one innings and the pitch looks very difficult to bat on. Sure Green looked out of his depth at 3 but I think they need to give him the opportunity to settle into the position. The Windies look like they are developing a nice hostile pace attack there which is good to see from the point of view of world cricket
I still think they have done an injustice to Green.I would love to see him succeed, but I fear he will be fodder batting at three. And his spot as theall rounder looks like it could be under pressure from Webster.
I would have prefered to see McSweeny get a chance at three, his usual position.Has he been cast aside!!!
Our batting has been deplorable for years and “the crew” have done nothing about it selecting the same ol lot.
Not sure why anyone thought it would be any different this series.
Wait until this Summers Ashes when the Poms absolutely go to town on us…finally everyone else might start questioning what I have been for years now!
BH, Anderson is 42 and Broad is 39 and only retired 1 - 2 years ago, both are 5 - 10 years older than Aussie’s current fast bowling dad’s army…kind a think the Aussies old boys have a year or two left in the tank…especially since younger boys in Richardson, Bartlett and Morris struggle physically to stay fit. Any I bet Wood at 36 and Archer at 30 are in the Eng Ashes squad this summer
The bowlers arent the problem, its the batsmen. Speaking of batsmen…where does Inglis bat if Head, Webster and Carey are 5, 6 and 7? Obviously 1, 2, 3 or 4…even harder when Smith comes back at 4. Tell me which batsmen in Aust on the FC scene have batting averages over 40 in the last 5 years outside the current lot that have been selected?..Fark all
Not sure what the options are for watching down there, but if you have a reasonable internet connection, and a generous data allowance, this might be useful https://watch.cricstream.me/
Sadly at this rate, the selectors will be begging Lab’s to forgive them and come back. They will crumble and reinstate Lab’s after he finds form in the nets, after a well made 100 facing the likes of Dodemaide and McDonald off their long runs.
As much as it pains, Konstas needs to be persisted with for this series, move Smith to 3 when he comes back, put Green to 4, was working well for him prior to his injury…give Green till the end of this series atleast, because if Aust lose the Ashes(oops sorry BH…when Aust lose the Ashes) I reckon Uzzie and Smith will retire, especially if they have a poor individual series…swan song at the SCG for them…Lyon as well…plus Hazlewood and maybe Starc.
Sheesh what has Australian cricket come to…
Swansongs for handy players
There should only be swansongs for all time greats eg- Bradman, Lillee, R.Marsh, G.Chappell, Border, S.Waugh, Warne, McGrath, Langer, Gilchrist, Ponting etc definitely not Khawaja, Lyon, Labuschagne…
Anyone can see Cameron Green has many flaws in his batting technique. Can bully lesser bowling at lower levels but continues to get found out at the top level.
Because of his back troubles and inability to bowl he is no longer considered an all-rounder so they are trying to turn him into a specialist batsman.
Giving those ‘handy sorts’ a swansong may be the only way to move them on BH…they will only keep playing till their ‘efforts’ are finally recognized by that tough crowd of punters, who sit at home, on their well memory foamed couches, bitching at their telly’s, calling them out for being either too old or too useless, or both…pretty sure Labs is not going anywhere soon though…so strap in for him for a bit longer BH.
