Its all starting to unravel for the Coach and Captain
Windies are desperate to win this series. And get back into the test rankings.
Yeah mate you donāt know how much I would like to be patient
but this has been sliding for 2 and nearly 3 years
the coach hasnāt wanted to start blooding and gone with old dudes
simply due to being scared of his job long term
now we will see a massive chasm in the next year
ironically McDonald will probably get sacked then
being blunt Konstas isnāt up to it Green probably isnāt either
and Inglis as good as he is - isnāt a test number 4
but all this falls onto Bailey , Dodemaide & McDonald full stop
theyāve failed the next generation massively
and they have had a multitude of opportunities to blood guys
So the Aussie selectors are to blame for the lack of Aust batsmen being able to average 40 + in FC cricket during their tenure? Geez not sure McDonald et al are at fault for that, but itās a narrative that is popular apparently.
Historically most decent test batsmen possess a FC average in the 40ās, very few in the 30ās make the next stepā¦canāt think of too many current Aussie batsmen in SS averaging 40 +ā¦touch wood the next coach can wave a magic wand can conjure up some 40+ ave batting gems.
Out of interest who are these players that have been failed?..Bancroft, Harris, Hughes, Whiteman, Weathereld, Renshaw etc have all solid 30 + ave to hang their hats onā¦all have had their moments, but if your career ave is stuck in the 30ās for a top 6 batsmen, then surely thatās down to the individual holding the bat, not the fella holding the clip board or driving the team bus
I may be wrong, but I believe that the selection panel are picking teams with BBL and other short form cricket, where technique means nothing.Playing on batting friendly strip of rolled clay or dirt.
I think Konstas was selected on that form. And it has not worked.
Green on the other hand had good SS form when selected. He looked good.Looked like he could bat.But with his back injuries his batting appears to have gone backwards.
He got scores in the BBL seldom. He has been tried up and down the oder a bit and has unsettled him.
Both are under fire for things that have occured because of short form cricket. Both are looking like they are afraid of getting out rateher than knowing what shot to play. Or which ball to leave.
As has been said in the press, Green plays with hard hands just like Mitch Marsh. Could this come from playing early cricket on the bouncy WA wickets?
Inglis is another kettle of fish. He certainly doesnāt lacj batting knowledge. I think in the first dig, he knew the Aussies needed some quick runs or runs to come in place of dot balls. He is an attacking batsman, and in the first played accordingly.
Only time will tell tonight how long the test goes.
What intrigues me Senior, is that folk point fingers and say Bailey et al should have blooded more players during their tenureā¦can anyone tell me the Patty/Ronald win loss ratio?..and how does a coach/selector pick someone, when they are injured more often then they are fit?..which is exactly what has occurred with Richardson, Johnson, Paris, Bartlett and Morris over the last 4 - 5 yearsā¦what is their play/injury game ratio? I wonāt get answers, because it will stain the narrativeā¦
Players like Siddons, Law, Cox et al unfortunately were overlooked for better players during the 90āsā¦and they had better FC averages than the apparent lost generation McDonald et al has createdā¦itās lifeā¦mainly due to the mathā¦only 11 can be selected.
And like that the game is over. Shamar seems to like playing Austā¦pity he hasnāt got much back up.
Like any performance, a few things to tidy up onā¦trying to bat for more than 6 hrs would be niceā¦frustratingly the bowlers continue to share the wickets, so chance of any changes thereā¦as for the battingā¦perhaps a reconnaissance flight for the missed generation of Aust batsmen, in the hope of one of them gettiing the nod and scoring some runsā¦preferably more than their established FC average of 30 odd.
The Windies no longer have a Shiv Chandapaul. So they will chase the runs. And wont try to bat for a 150 ,overs.
Our quicks where great .And saved our team, again.
Lucky our middle order batting ,scored enough runs.In the context of the match.
Been a big week for test Cricket.England v India was a classic match.Allmost 1600 ,runs scored. With a final day result.
With England chasing down 380 on day 5.Against some good Indian spin bowling.
Just on the Wndies test. The Barbados wicket wasnāt test standard.Looked underprepared for a test match.Turf looked black in colour with variable bounce.
Windies bowled out in under 33 overs!! WTF.
A capitulation!!
Sadly, too late for me to be watching any of it.
Not watched a ball live.
Talk of Inglis being dropped. Not sure of his supposed replacement.
Do Konstas and Green also come under scrutiny?
Webster look now like a lock. He has served his time in the SS and can play long version cricket. Values his wicket.
Greens confidences has been shot. Even dropping sitters according to the media.
Changes!!! Any one?
Seemās like itās all quiet on the anti Paddy/Ronald front, after that win Senior. Another victory for the dynamic duoā¦be interested in that win loss ratio of thereāsā¦no doubt their winning days will come to an end, thank fudge for the Baggy Blue fast boys trioā¦once again there share the spoils.
Sounds like the umps had as good a game as Aust and WI top order batsmen didā¦and WI fieldersā¦7 catches droppedā¦thatās shocking.
Smith surely doesnt need to be rushed back, SJoseph is pretty quick, and Smith getting another knock to his injured finger, could mean longer on the sidelines. Move Carey to 3, Green to 4 and Inglis to 7, and give him the glovesā¦wonāt happen though, due to Patty & Ronaldās stubborness to deviate from their thinking.
