Ashes 5th Test - SCG

Very few walkers at test cricket level.
Last one I heard of was Max.

I wonder what sort of sanction the ICC will come up with for Bryden Carse. He was really fired up and his cork was popping. Not sure why he fired up at the on field ump though.
Stokes did well in getting him away from the ump.

They had a few go against them though the poms.

That was out yesterday, and we have seen other ones given with similar murmur this summer.

Carey was out in Adelaide even with the wrong mike that was an error.

And what about the LBW decision on Brookes on day 4 off the bowling of the Slug, the umpire said as part of the review, I have checked the front foot and it’s a fair delivery but look where the back foot landed. That’s a no ball so that decision should have been called not out.

A couple of tests may have gone a different way if the technology used was used correctly.

Yeah naagh mate…always swings in roundabouts…pretty sure Eng have had a series where they have received the rub of the green…may not be v Australia, but v someone else. Frustrating none the least, but just the nature of sport I guess

All of the Ashes series in England in the last 20 years they have had the rub of the green.
Remember some of the howlers made by umpires Billy Bowden (Kasprowicz given out caught behind when glove not even on the bat), Aleem Dar (not giving Broad out when he smashed it to Clarke at 1st slip off Agar) & Joel Wilson (the non lbw to Stokes at Headingly 2019 when it was taking out middle pole half way up from Lyon)…actually I could name another half a dozen errors from Wilson alone!

Gives them a chance to do something they are good at, and it is not crickey.
Starts with W ends in an E. Has hing in the middle.

What happened to hotspot? Is that under the other technology or is that only available for white ball cricket? That’s pretty black and white if any kind of mark shows it’s a nick.

Apparently it is too expensive for the broadcaster/ICC.
I agree it is better than snicko.

Interesting views from the Back homers.More of them than ours selected.

ironically it appears that England will be the ones making the first list changes
Duckett , Pope & Crawley in big trouble
Stokes might not be captain much longer
Sir Allistair might be the coach
and the next captain punching on with some Kiwi bouncers
and copping a $60 000 fine for it
Wood’s days appear numbered
and another bowler looking at a fine for umpire dissent
and locally
Whiteman going back to play for Yorkshire with his passport
no way we need a poor import playing for WA next year
he can stay there seeing that news

The Poms copped a fair pounding in a programme on Fox tonight.
Panel, Junior, Tuffers, Bumbles, Vaughnie, The Knight Cook, and some other dude I couldn’t place.
They sprayed Stokes a bit. Poor captaincy. So much for Warners glorification of the Kiwi.
Only saw half the show so there would have been more cop it.

hmmm maybe we could sell them Green
for a bag of Bethell’s and a can of Carse
:slightly_smiling_face:

or is that a bag of Potts
and a bit of Bethell
:slightly_smiling_face:

Please don’t write Green off.

afraid Green is his own worst enemy
substandard bowler
and not much better bat
that gets out pretty easily
Webster came in and showed him up
very quickly
some handy spin and a good 70 odd unbeaten at 9
Green just needs a real coach and some fight

I totally disagree with your assessment. Totally.
He has been screwed in both his batting, as they have not given him a spot to play. To base his future on. DeVenuto a batting coach!!!.
He has been screwed by the two skippers with their direction to have him bowl short :poop:, every time he bowls.
While Webster has been succesful he has had no pressure. Nine.
Came in with a free swing.
Plus at least three extra years at SS compared to Green.

Green has had several years of chances
and rarely taken them
this series has seen what is lacking
he’s been pretty ordinary
the bowling in the 5th test was particularly rotten
what was it 20 overs for about 140

Fairly giving Cam his dues and giving him a clip where required.

He gave it to himself when he pulled that one in the air, that sat up.He knew it and hopefully, that fires him up for applying himself longer when batting.

Has had his Faults and whilst I think Webster holds the aces if they only go with one All Rounder, they’ll go with 2 up the order, with a Spinner replacing Khawaja.

We don’t need to clog the Team with another Batsman.

Anchor TBH, the folk constantly bagging Green, were also bagging Aust chances pre Ashes, and bigging up Eng international quality bowling attack…the express speed of Wood and Archer will tear Aust Dad’s Army relics a new one…and so and so on and so on.

Green has a lot of work to do, no doubting that…with Uzzie gone, hopefully some consistency in how Green is used, will instil some consistency in Green’s performances…never seen a player put under the microscope as much as Green has been put under these pasr few months…oh yeah I have…his name was Steve Waught…did fark all for 30 - 40 tests before hitting his boot straps…one can only hope as an Aust fan I guess, history repeats itself.

A certain fella named the Bison later in his career, came under plenty of scutiny..
He was the mosted hated cricketer in Australia. Even he conceded that.
