Trade Rumours
At the moment we have been linked with Brandon Matera for either a third or fourth round draft pick, Nathan Wilson for a second round pick and there is a possibility that Reece Conca might look to return home to the West.
The big speculation going around is that perhaps Jesse Hogan might be wanting to come home due to the personal issues he has had this year. This is just a rumour though and I think he still has two years to run on his contract.
Jesse would be the only player that I would be willing to part with pick five for. If it turns out to be just a rumour than that is fine and I would be looking to use our first pick on either Sam Hayes, Aaron Naughton or Oscar Allen. If we manage to get back in the second round then I’d be looking at Sam Taylor from Swan Districts.
If the rumours are true though it was said that Melbourne could be interested in Harley Balic. Would pick 5, pick 40, pick 55 and Balic be enough to secure Hogan and Melbourne’s second round pick number 27.
A Fremantle name not being bandied about is Lee Spurr. With the advent and arrival of Luke Ryan as a more than reliable defender and the very real chance we will get Nathan Wilson, I think that Spurrs position on the list will come under scrutiny.
Tom Rockcliff to Port Power.Great pickup for Port and looks like they out-trumped there cross town rivals the Crows.Michael Voss is midfield coach at Power. Was TR one of the reasons Vossy got sacked at the Loins???
It seems that there are big movers around Adelaide.Appears both sides have goings and comings.
Charlie Cameron wanting out isn’t good news for the Crows.
Anchor offloading Tom Rockcliff frees up some money for the Loins. And Charlie Cameron will be a winner in all his.
Lever leaving the Crows .a 50 game 21 year old with Melbourne offering something like 700’k a year. Was caught at the tip yesterday throwing out all his training gear. Also last week Tex and other senior players approached Pike about not playing Lever in the GF.Because he was leaving. As it turned out Lever was probably the Crows best on GF day.Lever also phoned all Crows players to tell them his move back to Vic.Tex gave him a big spray.
If I were the Crows I’d make Cameron honour his contract homesick or not for mine this excuse is as weak as piss.
Lever was with Adelaide for only 3 years and before they drafted him for the 2015 season he missed the whole year with a knee injury, thought he could have repayed them with a couple more years.
The money would still be there for him.
How do these kids go travelling overseas without mummy’s tittie?
Mr AFL, it is every where on the net.
Maybe not a happy camp at the Crows.
Apparently Lever has been told , or advised, not to attend their F&B award night.
Matt Taberner has re signed with Fremantle today. Good move I reckon, I have a feeling that he will be a regular next year. Not a star but a physical presence in the forward line. Freo can probably forget about Hogan for the foreseeable future. Melbourne would be crazy to let him go unless it is for compassionate reasons. He will be the cornerstone of their team in the next 5 -10 years.
Came up on my facebook feeds via a channel 7 reporter. The club doesn’t appear to have made an announcement as yet so not official. The same reporter said that Hogan and Fasolo have no interest in returning to WA.
I am unsure on Taberner. It would have been a bad move for the club to de-list him.He would have gone into the draft and been picked up for nothing.Though no club seemed interested, he would have been eagerly sought after if he was for free.
His marking, which seemed to be every ones gripe on him, improved immensely late in the season.I read some where where he had the highest number of contested marks in the competition. So maybe that is put to rest.
He has a huge tank and can run all day.Maybe they try to make a mid fielder of him.But he needs to become more physical in his approach to the contest.
But signing him again was a must for the club.
the big question for me anchor is will we ever see Apeness and Alex Pearce on the park at any given time? Freo tends to have its fair share of long term injuries that’s for sure.
I agree DD.Maybe the game will have slipped by Apeness before he comes back.If he does. When we recruited him, he was the big hard body we needed up forward. But unfortunatly we have not seen enough of him to trust whether he will give us some return.
Pearce may be like Fyfe, take some time to recover from his leg troubles. He will certainly be handy if aor when he dons the Purple again.
Two players who could be pluses for or yet another couple who can’t get back on the park.
Apeness sounds like another Gumbleton TBH…obviously with Taberner signing on the Hogan goss must surely just be all that…Taberner, McCarthy and Kersten up front again…jeez Freo will struggle to kick goals again next year me thinks…
Got me stuffed why they retained Apeness, Suttcliffe and Sheridan. I guess you can’t cut them all at once but can’t see any of them figuring in Fremantle’s future. Holding onto Taberner is a good move, it looks like he is about to stamp himself as a regular AFL footballer and it would have been embarrassing to see him go to another club and make his mark though if he could have been used to secure Hogan then it would make sense.
I thought Crozier had developed nicely and sorry to see him go but we might get lucky and pick up a good one with the pick we get from him or perhaps that is ontraded to get Wilson or Matera. Matera being the most likely like for like.
Ballantyne is going to be under the pump next year with the addition of Matera and Bennell if his calves hold up. I expect McCarthy will have a big pre season and come back a much leaner body shape so could be a big upside from him next year.
