Zone Changes 2013

GLENELG is the big winner and Sturt, Central and Woodville-West Torrens are the losers after the SANFL released proposed changes to its junior recruiting boundaries last week.

The draft changes were circulated to clubs this week and the realignment of the River Murray Football League, from Sturt to South Adelaide, has angered the Double Blues.

“We’re very concerned about the potential of losing the Murray Bridge area,” said Sturt chief executive Matt Benson, who planned to appeal the change.

“We’ve invested a huge amount of time and money into that area and developed relationships there which are very hard to spin around and walk away from.”

Central is also fuming after its plea that its zone be increased was ignored. The Dogs submitted figures to the league showing their junior participation levels were arguably the lowest in the competition.
