Zak Butters denies it,Umpire Foot is Adamant, did a Crowd member say it?

“What are they paying you?”

The AFL should explain what on earth happened to the mic for a few seconds, that EXTRAORDINARILY dropped out at that exact moment of the game.

The Saints had been getting Frees all night. But they played the better football,Port had been frequently undisciplined, coughing up Frees, then another 50,Butters gets Reported.

Thoughts,…?

Ohhh in reality AFL/ North Korea ,spot the difference.

Not much I hear you say,…

No winners her Grassy - with as you say that mic disappearing it will boil down to he said she said and i can see this ending up in the supreme court. Port needs to go above and beyond here otherwise butters will walk now and not at the end of the season, but if they have any chance of keeping him this is their line in the sand moment.

Agree the saints were getting lots of kicks, but me thinks power were as undisciplined as their coach used to be in his playing days.

Succession plans don’t work unless the first coach walks right as the success comes - A new voice was needed for port.

like almost every single scandal,

The AFL could have averted this ……..

by simply saying ‘Sportsbet employees cant officiate a game of professional Footy’

do they set up a stall to recruit AFL integrity people at Annual Real Estate Agents convention?

The umps are a protected species on and off the park…..they should be made to have post game interviews, to be questioned about their decision making during the game, just like the coaches are made to do.

with what they get paid they should be more accountable that’s for sure. The AFL have basically built their defence around what was said post match and what was said today

And no surprises he has been found guilty and fined $1500.00. Reasons for the finding will be published tomorrow?

FFS the lawyers for both sides would have cost more than that.

They should have stuck them in a room with a carton and told them both “Don’t come out until this is sorted”

The AFL is a very very powerful organisation…more to the point, answerable to NO ONE.

Good luck in any journo “trying” to seriously hold them to account.

They all feed off the teat of the AFL, and they dont want to risk their bread and butter

A not for profit that pays no tax yet funds a massive bureaucracy and executive whilst screwing second tier comps and trying to colonise every aspect of the game in the country. With its hand up the arse of every politician in the country Kim Jung Un must be envious of this mob.

For all I’ve said about that lot,I don’t think I could have said that any better!

:+1:

Yeah but it is just a make believe change by the hour lie

All history has been buried unless $2.37 or 11 minutes & 35 seconds of good press can be materialised instantly from it

Have a look at the useless two bit flog leading it who exactly is it? Has it been something in football somewhere? Or just another coat hanger from Victoria?

What does his work with sportsbet have to do with any of this?

Butters has said he had no idea he worked for sportsbet yet everyone on social media has now brought it in to the issue? What does Butters words have to do with him working for SB?

its pretty self-evident, but;

butters accuses umpire of corruption, and the umpire is in an extremely corruptible position.

(e.g. he allocates Brownlow medal votes, his m-f employer runs a market on the Brownlow, as well as if any player at any time in any game scratches their arse)

imo, what butters knew or didn’t, isn’t relevant to the bigger issue of The AFL’s blindspot on integrity, accountability and transparency,

which is broader and wider than Stevie Wonder’s

The audio didn’t extraordinarily disappear. It’s the same for every other part of the game. It comes in and out depending on where the mic is mounted, facing, how loud the player is etc. In the wet if the mic isn’t covered it fills up with water so they need a cover or they turn them upside down.

We do not hear every word a player says and plenty of people online have isolated the mic feed and you hear the word pay or paid which lines up with what the umpire said nothing like Butters said is about all I’ll say.

No one is a winner in this.

Yet no one on social media has whinged about it until this week. He was given that job over 12 months ago yet all I have seen since the incident is people bringing SB in to the reason why he paid the 50.

is it an issue? yes, would it have changed the outcome? no.

At that very moment?

C’mon!

Thing thing was,Foot said he HEARD Butters say that line.

Did he Actually see those words come out of his mouth,or have Butters’ voice down pat?

It could have been anybody who said that, particularly a crowd member, where you’d likely suspect was!

it doesn’t disappear … they already isolated it, Its just very dull which happens constantly through a game. No chance of hearing it from the crowd where they were standing.

Did it isolate Butters’ Voice out of 18 Port players’ mouths?

In Court “Mr Foot,if you did not see Mr Butters say what you alleged, how can you absolutely sure,it was him that said so?!”

considering there was only 2 around the mic and both are saying it was Butters talking, i would think its pretty obvious who said it.

Foot in mouth disease Mr Foot will be regretting his precious entitled actions once he steps out onto the field this round. I’d be booing the shit out of him.
