Put in to bat by the Saffas and not a great start with Rabada picking up both Khawaja & Green in the same over for 0 & 4 respectively!
Rabada is a magnificent bowler. May like a pipe or two but who cares, brilliant bowler.
might limp to 150
and it’s a big might
I won’t ask how someone thought of Labuschagne at 2
or Green at 3
maybe it’s just for the best this happens
fair bit riding on the bowlers about right now
Smith carrying the batting as usual
I’ve been mighty impressed with Webster since he made his debut last summer, in particular his batting. I think he is the most fundamentally correct batsman in the team. As a result he doesn’t lose his wicket easily and has the ability to turn the scoreboard over.
My question is where’s he been hiding? Isn’t he about 29 going on 30 already? This bloke should have been playing test cricket long ago.
Good partnership by Smudge and Webster
Gave our bowlers ,someone to bowl too.
The Duke ball is singing Wouldn’t be surprised if we take a first innings lead.
Webster continues to impress in his, short international career.
I pulled stumps when we were dismissed.Wasn’t sure how our bowlers would go. Whether they would go with the short stuff or attack. It seemed like the latter.A big recovery.
It seems the Poms and others are up in arms about the wicket.Tonight may tell us just how the wicket will perform from here in .Maybe a three dayer.
I was so pleased to see Webster value his wicket so much. It is a trait not readily seen by earlier batsmen.emons and came out the other side a winner.
Smith look almost invincible, but felll far short of what I am sure he wanted.
Big night tonight.
Maybe a bit like Mike Hussey.Either a late developer, or just the selectors didn’t rate him.
But I think his last couple of years he has been pretty damn good both with bat and ball.
And as far as bowling goes, he can fill a spot for a few resting over to cover, then can spin a few as well.
A bonus for the team.
SA fighting back tonight. Looks like one wicket for the first session.
Great catch in the covers by Marnus.
Bowlers have bowled well without much luck.
Bavuma survived an out LBW decision.
Well we had our pants pulled down by the Saffas.
The batting was just laughable and has been for 3 or 4 years minimum but still the crew stick fat with the same ol underperforming lot.
Surely time has to be called on Khawaja, Labuschagne & Lyon who was very ordinary and if we had some selectors with courage Kuhnemann should have been selected ahead of Lyon on form.
Sadly Green just looks like a deer in the headlights in England especially but Test Cricket in general most of the time!
On to the West Indies now who embarrassed us last time they met at the Gabba with a bloke on one leg making us look silly again.
Khawaja, Labuschagne & Lyon should all be dropped with possibly Hazlewood as well with Konstas, Kuhnemann, Inglis & Boland to come in for mine…but knowing the crew it will be the same 11!
Threw it after gift wrapping it with that shambolic 2nd innings
when your number 9 makes everyone else look shit poor it sums it up
Now it is time to cull the fark out of that ridiculously old side
they are a laughing stock and the world knows it
Cummins and McDonalds control of the test team,is apsolute.
Uzzie,Laba and Lyon will all play in the Ashes. And will retire after the completion of the Ashes.
Unless England win the first couple of tests. And the selections are forced on the team.
Webster’s showed that good shield players, can step up to International level.
The medias love of McDonald and Cummins, will continue.
Has to be changes with the batting. Going to the Windies should be the beginninhg of that. The tour should be try em and buy em series.
And maybe not just the batting, the bowling trio of quicks are all very close to retiring.
I know it wont happen but time to get games into the second tier of quicks to see if they can stand up to the test scene.
That eye to the future should have been done 2 years ago with a view to this upcoming summers Ashes series but the crew know best and went with this aging underperforming lot.
To be honest our bowling attack has kept us relevant for the last few years but even they cant continue to carry the load on their shoulders without support from the batsmen.
No way in hell is Green a test quality Number 3 or Labuschagne an opener
and how the idiot selectors thought he had form after his awful england spell
is just what South Africa feasted upon even though they folded for 138 themselves
but really to lose after rolling a team for 138 is what McDonald is truly capable of
- not very much at all
