Who is the most supported team in the WAFL.

Ok Ozfooty, time to find out which is the most supported team in the WAFL amongst the WAFLFootyFacts community.

I’ve created a new poll on my site so you can select your team, please only vote once. I’m promoting this through Facebook, Twitter, BigFooty and here, so hopefully get some good numbers. I’ll update this post regularly.

Go on have your say…

http://waflfootyfacts.net/poll2.php

Unfortunately many people claim to follow a certain club but never go to a game. For me the real measure of the most supported club is last years gate figures.

1 West Perth
2 East Perth
3 South Freo
4 East Freo
5 Swan Districts
6 Subiaco
7 Peel
8 Perth
9 Claremont

If you’ve got a large mob of supporters that never show up to games, you don’t have real supporters.

Good call mate, but I want to gauge the overall numbers that follow, support, barrack, like etc I’m not polling who goes to games as numbers through the gate can be skewed by foundation (WA) day and free promotions like WP have done for the last few years. I too know a number of people that have a WAFL team, that don’t go to games. So that’s what I’m looking at. Maybe ‘supporters’ is not the right term to use, but I’m sure OzFooty folk are ‘supporters’ - anyway changed the wording on the poll to ask 'who is your favourite team. Cheers Ric

Even with the inflated figures the free entry game organised by WP provide $cumiaco are still way below Swans on attendances and we never get the public holiday games like a stand alone Good Friday game to boost our numbers!

And Swans are below 4 other clubs

It really grates you that Swans have far more supporters than $cumiaco doesnt it!

It really grates you that Subiaco has far more Premierships than Swans doesn’t it.
Quit bring it up, I’ll bribe you to stop.

Must be dirty money well spent then and or just the near on 50 years longer you have been in existence!

We have this year and it makes up for PERTH losing ANZAC DAY,which I thought was a bit rude.

We have FOUNDATION DAY.And whilst it’s Swan’s Home Game and it’s on 7,Both Clubs should make a great effort to make this Fixture permanent(rotating Home Games of course)and promote the daylights out of it,regardless of ladder position and potential bad weather.

As for PERTH’s Average, our position is a little misleading if you ask me.Despite some very disappointing attendances(and no figures),I felt our Home support was surprisingly good, given another poor season.Granted,a few more dropped off,fed up with losing.I can’t blame them and for the umpteenth time,we can’t keep doing that.

But on many an occasion, the support for away teams was very low,bar Swans and West Perth.Even East Perth’s away support numbers was very low, compared to most years and this happened on ANZAC DAY.

East Fremantle may have got a few,but not that many really. But the Roll up from Subi,South,Peel and Claremont was very poor.Perth fans travel, but we hardly break records on that score, but you’ll usually find a good core of a few hundred, rolling up regardless if what may happen.Hardly World Breaking, but add our Passion to the Home supporters on our travels, you have some sort of atmosphere.

Not much I grant, but the 2nd game at Bassendean had the supporters on edge, right up until the Final Siren. One other thing about last year’s attendances, which I have raised before. The lack of an attendance figure, for at least 5 games. To the WAFC,I ask,Why not?

You’re right I guess, I’d forgotten that Swan Districts aren’t a traditional WAFL club.

It’s interesting, where I work I have come across more people that claim to follow Subi than any other club. Which surprised me. Mind You, I’d doubt many of them could name any players or the current coach

Great topic. Can remember growing up in the late 1970’s when East Perth won in 1978.Living in Morley in the middle of the Royals zone they where huge. Will make two ladders for now and historical.
Now 1 Wp,2 SD,3 EP,4 SF,5 Perth,6 EF,7 Subi,8 Cmt,9 Peel.
Historical.1 EP,2 SF,3 WP,4 SD, 5 EF,6 Perth,7 Subi,8 Cmt.

It’s one thing to Barrack or follow a club, another to actually support it through the gate and other means.

Somebody wouldn’t be using a cookie cleaner and voted more than once would they??

Not playing the game chaps.
