Who do folk follow in the English Soccer....and why?

Have been a long suffering follower of Ipswich Town in the English soccer. I will be interested to see if they have learnt from their 24/25 EPL mistakes for next season. Followed Ipswich since watching them beat Arsenal in the 77 FA cup….only picked them because they were wearing Old East colours of Blue and White, and stuck with them.. Interested to know, who on here follows the English football results, who they support, and why?

Liverpool.

Wherever I caught Match of the Day with Jimmy Hill and maybe by then Bob Wilson co hosting it,the Reds were staring right at me most times,so I just picked them.

I only really realised before the Cup Final, what they were going for,….an unprecedented Treble of League Title,FACup and European Cup.

We just missed out with Man U spoiling the party in the Cup Final.

I got spoilt in following The Reds, following Bob’s Team(Bob Paisley),then by further success after Bob Retired.

Mind you,we went through a terrible drought ourselves,in being Starved of “Our Bread and Butter”(The League Title)for 29 Seasons, only to return to the Top,thanks to Borussia Legend,Jurgen Klopp.

Swansea - Black & White + Swans connection.

Born in Paisley (Scotland)-St. Mirren

Lived in Glasgow-Rangers

Moved to East London-West Ham

Mate thought you would be Newcastle United….

Why is that Freez?

Newcastle home strip is black n white……went to watch Ipswich play them in Newcastle with a few Geordie mates, when I went to Uni in Leeds back in the mid 90’s…..great day…..and night out from memory……Newcastle is a crazy place…..

Maybe the wooden statue of JC brings a calming influence on Geordies?

I followed Liverpool in the days of Highway, Keegan, Hughes and that era. It is not English premoer league but the United Nations league which frankly is just not the same. Favourite player was QPR’s Marsh!

I couldnt support any Pommy team!

EPL Manchester United, Matt Busby legendary team got me into them and then Alex Ferguson …

SPFL - Celtic all the way - old man from Glasgow, he was HOOPS no other way.

Soft Spots for :

WOLVERHAMTON - no real reason other than I knew someone from there and liked the name.

Passionate Dislikes.

Liverpool - Worst supporters in the world, got banned from Europe only club to achieve that.

Rangers - Just a mob of bigots - going Bankrupt was the best thing that they achieved.

Lol….spoken like a true Aussie mate.

I’m sure the feeling’s mutual towards Man U Supporters.

Man U had a Major Hooligan Problem in the 70’s and their players made it Publicly Crystal Clear they did not want the chief troublemakers following the Club.

There was a Man U supporter on a Bus to Wembley(Match of the 70’s) to play Sothampton, who reminded me of someone from Manchester dear to all at our Pub and dearly missed.

He was a cheerful chap with a funny sense of humour and you remember guys like him, rather than the ones that give a Club a Bad name, like ones who cheer disasters like Munich and Hillsborough.

We all have bad eggs, but there’s enough good folk who simply enjoy a game of football that any decent person would like to relate to.

Much like the Celtic v Rangers rivalry.Plenty of passion, some would say too much. Then there’s the nitwits who ruin it for many who should go to a frontline in saay Yemen that might change their minds on how far ye take Rivalry.

How about Scotland’s 3rd Big Club?

Liverpool

:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I should have got an old Geordie Mate(gt)to get me one at The Queens,Freeze.

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I have supported Arsenal since the mid 70s due to family supporters in London. I’ve been to both the New stadium and Highbury in my trips to the UK.

3 wins to go…………

Go for your lives in the Premier League.

City owe you 2 others as well.

But sorry,my Scouse/Scottish leanings must Salute the Old Alliance in France,so viva PSG.

Unless someone from Bordeaux says Non.

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

All Clubs had Hooligans only one club has been disgraced in the way Liverpool was after Heysel killed 39 people - almost brought down the entire English international scene.

No,the National Front nutcases masked as football supporters did that.It was just easy for UEFA to look at the plastic red beanied Thousands and say it was ALL OUR FAULT!

That game attracted the Scum of Europe,be it from Liverpool,Manchester, ultras from Italy and the continent,Chelsea,Millwall,…glad they didn’t make it to the Premier League, thank - you Hull!

But ultimately,if it was ALL OUR FAULT,why was it more than us being Banned from Europe?!

Because UEFA realised after the event, that the Hooligan Problem involved more than just one Club.

They managed to slither away from Blame themselves when they probably knew Heysel was not the type of Venue to host a Major Event like that!
