What will 2026 bring?

If all these rumours are true then WA Football better start putting their resources into investigating huge breaches of the amateur code instead of auditing WAFL clubs and punishing them with a big stick for fairly minor discretions.

One amateur club has been deregistered for a mad Monday prank yet according to what people post, and I’m not saying they are lying I recognise one former WAFL player saying it’s a fact, then sounds like most ammo clubs should be deregistered.

Ammo clubs must be laughing at how easy it is to lure WAFL league players from the WAFL.

I hope it doesn’t come to that and I hope the Community Clubs thrive and survive far into the future.

But the amount of times they outbid the State League, gets one curious.

Even more curious is how much CA$H a Certain AFL Club is pouring in,in direct Competition to the one they’re supposedly competing in.

More interestingly,if the money comes from the returns they seem to be minimalising,if I heard someone on Sport FM right?!

Lucky they’re not a Casino. That might be construed by Financial Analysts as SKIMMING!

:open_mouth:

Not too sure about the country leagues but certainly no transfer fees for going back to Amateurs. WAFL players usually go back to play with their mates for nothing but you have to wander why they go to clubs that they have no affiliation with, $$$

Braut is no longer on the list on the Subi website

Must be good knee. True Subi man.

Apparently signed for big money at Kingsway with Eaton and Senge.

These PFL Clubs Flashing the Ca$h again,…

:face_without_mouth:

The issue isn’t if PFL clubs or country clubs are paying players, they have for decades…the issue is the what the WAFL clubs are paying or more correctly not paying…

In the 90s most WAFL clubs were paying a minimum of $150 a game for league players (1st to 3rd Years), early 90s Claremont was still paying Ressies players, was only $15 or $20 a game but petrol was only $0.40/L and a beer was $1.50 a middy

Fast forward 30 years and clubs are paying now $100-150 a League game for young League players. The best players are getting paid more but the WAFL salary cap hasn’t increased significantly until recently, too the point that it’s probably not even kept up with inflation.

On the other side, country clubs and PFL teams have increased their payments and also offer other incentives like employment.

Country teams are offering massive coin. Experienced ex-WAFL League players can get $2k+ a game in the bush, Kalgoorlie and SWFL pay the most. A fringe WAFL League player can get $1k+ a game in Kalgoorlie with your flights up and back paid for you and very good BOG awards on top too.

South Bunbury were paying huge coin in the 2000s with total player payments approx $150k per season plus substantial best player awards on top.

PFL clubs are losing League, Reserves and 3rd grade players to smaller bush comps with guys getting $250-500 a game.

Just seems they’re forking out more than before,TT.

I don’t mind them having funds to thrive and survive,…what’s West Coast plunging into the PFL these days?

Their returns to the WAFC should be satisfactory, even allowing for poor results over 5 years.

For some unexplained reason, they’re less, which they probably won’t on the grounds of commercial confidence.

Not sure what WC pay PFL but they were sponsoring the colts grades and PFL state teams.

The Colts grades are now sponsored by EGT and Senior men’s and Women’s are sponsored by Budget Car Rental.

Pretty confident that the PFL clubs don’t see any of West Coasts money directly or any of the other sponsors it just goes to the PFL including WAFC money. It used to be run by 5 staff now it’s 10 staff so that money probably just pays for them.

I think it was discussed during the parliamentary enquiry that the PFL that looks after 70 clubs and hundreds of teams received half of what each individual WAFL club received from the WAFC.

I’m not aware of any PFL club thats shut its doors because it went broke and I’d be pretty confident that most PFL clubs run at significantly better profit margins than nearly every WAFL club.

I was told that WPs best income source excluding the WAFC annual contribution , was from WP hosting the 3 weeks of PFL finals.

Sad news about Braut DG

Yes very sad Frothy, he is one of my all time favourites. Looks like the big man problem will be kicking on, made worse by his loss and that of Eaton and Edwards. Apart from Blight, not much in the way of big men coming in this season unfortunately. We should improve but all of the other clubs also look stronger than last year so I don’t know if we will climb the ladder at all tbh

New recruit from Tassie NWFL, Lenny Douglas. Mid-field forward, played in the Tasmanian Devils played in the Coates talent league and formerly AFL U18 championships. 20yo, 179cm, looks a likely type, welcome Lenny, but we have a few like him. Where is the news of a good experienced ruckman??

I’m not sure we need mid sized recruits when we’re so lacking rucks and taller KPPs.

Did anyone catch the intra club on Friday night? who were the standouts?

I see Luker Kentfield copped a nasty head high knock playing for Melbourne in a scratchy against Richmond. He was already wearing a face mask but at least he’s getting a game I guess. It’s been a long hard road for the bloke so come home Luker, we need you.

Boy do we ever.

Is anyone going to the scratchy against the bogans tonight? I was thinking about it, but it’s a crap time to be heading up the freeway from North Coogee so if others are going for a look, then I’d appreciate a few observations on here.
