After several disastrous seasons, the Eagles have been given a hand out, or hand up, whichever you like to use.This comes courtesy of the AFL.
I am sure that they will want plenty from the likes of Kelly, Yeo, Cripps, Cole Duggan etc, but are some of them hanging by a thread!
Yeo has hardly played for the last two seasons.But, at his best, he is a prime mover.
Gibney, Reid, Baker and McCarthy all had good seasons last year.They will be required to repeat that this year.
With the hand outs, they have done well with their recruiting.Duff-Tyler,Duursma,Schoenberg are players that could make a difference.
I am sure that one of their stars from last year, Jobe Shanahan, will have a big year. He is an outstanding player. Big, strong, footy nouswith a great mark and good kick for goal.
Aso the pick up of Dylan Robertson could be a bonus as will Starcevich.
As you all know, I am no lover of the Eagles, but they look to have a pretty good hand dealt to them this year.
How do others here think they will go.
When any Team has been that bad for so long,a bit of help is warranted,except 1 Club’s Reserves Team whose Club wasn’t really dinkum about.

The most disgraceful thing over the last few years to me if i was a WC fan was the fact they just were not fit enough to play the modern game. Talent gets you so far but being fit allows you to stay on the park and stay in games longer. Looking at their game last week against freo they still lack fitness IMO. Will be interesting to see how they go against a port side that will probably also be bottom 6 this year

Justin Longmuir to be sacked midway or earlier through the season. Jackson will be requesting a move to Melbourne now it’s back on with Kelsey Browne. Fremantle will have to turn to an experienced proven coach to win that elusive premiership. Maybe Clarkson will be available.
Eagles are on the march with quality high end draft picks. Their best draft in decades. They played it smart bidding on several players they knew clubs would match handing the Eagles even more picks. They cleaned up at the draft.
Will Dursma and Cooper Duff-Tytler are guns along with Josh Lindsay who they traded up for.
