Longmuir is no league coach. Soft, uninspiring and like the captain blows his load after a win. Thud, back down to earth in embarrassing fashion. Absolutely embarrassing.
Worst of all was the game was a classic,Ross Lyon scrap. From first to last bounce.
Young done a hammy.Brayshaw and Seron faced ,heavy tags.Should of moved one to the hbf and one to the hff.Could of thrown Clarke into the midfield.Who didn’t get going.Rotate a small fwd into the centre.
Disapointing coaching performance .
Longmuir and Pearce need to step down. Interim coach. Luke Beveridge, John Longmire and Adam Simpson all available. Add Ken Hinkley but no thanks. Luke Beveridge with Simon Garlic link I would go hard for and Bontempelli a nice set of steak knives.
Darcy is very over rated. Not sure what he brings, but colletcs his $650,000 a year cheque, of course he aint the only one, just an easy example.
Narkle got shown the door by 4 afl clubs, there is usually a reason for that. Perhaps the steak knives in the Bolton deal, but not up to standard IMHO
DD recon Ken Hinkley is a good fit at Freo.Hes coached a team for 12 years .Made finals most seasons, four Preliminary finals.Never had a team good enough to win a Grand Frinal.Remember Freo are a better team than Port on paper.
Port have a couple of gun midfielders .Allir,Georgiades.But dont have Freos key position players.
A masterclass by Lyon on how to shut down an opposition. Reduce the effectiveness of Brayshaw and Serong and the Dockers are there for the taking. There are a lot of passengers at Freo, Darcy, Frederick, Johnson and Cox are just some of the down hill skiers. Yet Brodie and Erasmus are playing their skins off at Peela and never get a look in.
The gap between Fremantles best and worst is massive They have only played one premiership contender (Geelong) and were flogged. They still have to encounter Collingwood, Hawthorn and Brisbane amongst others and they will be struggling to get within 10 goals of these teams.
They won’t move on Longmuir till the end of the season, no real point in changing coach at this stage. However if they miss the finals his position would surely be untenable for 2026, even though the CEO endorsed him to continue
I am curious to hear HL&S thoughts about the Dockers latest shocker - seems to have gone a bit quiet.
Adelaide looked terrible here last week but just had a big win at home v Carlton.
Footscray not good enough here a couple of weeks ago but had a big win at home v Port last night.
The Suns great at home - but lost to Richmond away 2 weeks ago.
The travel seems to do something to teams.
Freo v Collingwood on Thursday will tell us a lot more.
Whether or not they win or lose - it cant be just brushed off.
Sorry for a late answer, but due to unforseen circumstances, I was unable respond.
I have no concern with Longmuir.
I think the group is now beginning to grow. The likes of Serong and Brayshaw have matured into better than averge players. Both leadership quality.
The group has matured. The forwards now working together. Three big strong bodies, Treacy, Voss and Amiss.
Bolton is a real bonus for the team. The backs when Pearce comes back will be very settled. Chapman getting into some good form.
I think Longmuir is coaching better with the group getting tighter.
I look at coaches and take them as they come. Selected by wiser men than me.
I also believe that Longmuir believes he still has unfinished business at the club.
