Western Darby.

I headed this topic the way I have because I know there will be the SAs who say there is only one Derby, that is between East Fremantle and South Fremantle. So I decided I would go along with the Eastern staters and call it a Darby.
I have no doubt that this game will be a sell out. Both teams are travelling pretty well.I think the Eagles are going better than most thought.I didn’t think they would be where they are and tipped them to slide from the
eight this year. But they are looking good right now. They have introduced some new blood and it is showing.
The Dockers are going pretty well as well.Five games in and having played four first year players and one second year play. All have acquitted themselves very well, with Bailey Banfield probably being the best of them so far.
Optus should be bubbling come 2:40 Sunday.A full house it will be for sure.Maybe for the first time , there will be a decent disposal of Dockers and Eagles supporters in the stadium.
Tickets will be harder to find than rocking horse sheet.
I am sure that at the moment there is large amounts of banter going on at work places and many a lotto ticket and cartoon will be bet.
A few spare seats around where we sit , and wouldn’t be at all surprised if there are not a few of the dreaded opposition sitting around us.
Should be a good hard game.Maybe the best DARBY for a number of years.

You got that right anchor, there is only one derby, but to become an honorary Victorian, that’s desperate.
One thing to be sure, Eagles won’t want to bring the crap they dished up last week. Fyffe and Walters will make a feast of that.
btw - what’s an SA, something derogatory no doubt

I heard on the radio this morning the medal is not the Ross Glendinning medal due to a sponsorship deal?

Sorry to be a SA but it is not only Eastern Staters who curiously pronounce derby as if it had an “A” instead of “E” - the entire English speaking world does. It is only us here in the West who doesn’t. Not sure why you should change the spelling though?

That’s what the twits claim, but when would a sponsor get involved in telling a club what medal they must or must not use? Glendinning was an original Eagle, but he also served at Dorkland FC, so what’s the problem?
Probably Freo having a sooky la la moment. Unless of course Petitt is involved.

Maybe we’re the only ones pronouncing it correctly?

Glendinning was a selector at Freo for one year , in other words he’s had sfa to do with the club, this is the same guy that that awarded the medal to someone else after the panel had voted.

If you had read Rosich statement he met with WC to suggest a name change that would suit both clubs but the Eagles didn’t want a bar of it, but don’t worry you’ll have your own presentation of the Rosco medal in your change rooms after the game.

So for 16 years freo thought it was a good decision now they decide it doesn’t suit freo?

What a load of toss.

I’m glad people like Hasleby have called it what it is by freo. Fkn horse shit.

I don’t think Freo will ever get it.. many people do not understand sporting culture and when your club has none, these are the sort of decisions that are made. So desperate for success yet they have just taken ten steps back.

The medal is a cellebration of WA football, I’m guessing the lack of success is really starting to get to Freo.

Very embarrassing for Freo, trying to claim it was all due to sponsorship then having to back track
Wonder how Pavlich feels about it.

Who really gives a shit if they don’t hand out some meaningless medal which gets thrown in a bottom draw somewhere?

So you want a medal between two teams that’s only synonymous with WC great call genius, no doubt you would of been all over the Chris Mainwaring wing as well, take your yellow and blue glasses off and let’s not bring up culture eh.

There’s only one lot of fans crying about it tbf.

Tell that to the Freo players who have won it over the past 17 years, it’s the only silverware they have courtesy of Freo.

Football is built on tradition and respect.

He is synonymous “now” because he works at west coast. Apart from being our first captain he played like 40 games. Hardly medal worthy. At the time it was created he was working at freo and they decided due to what he put in to WA footy and the fact he had been at both clubs let’s name it after him.

Don’t use the rubbish line of he only spent 2 years at freo coz that’s what he spent at WCE too.

He is one of the most prestigious WA players to play the game and represented WA football and that’s why the medal is named after him.

Rosich met with WC officials regarding a name change before the new stadium was even built WC didn’t want a bar of it again Rosco has nothing in common or anything to do with the club, what part of that don’t you understand your bias is getting in the way again.

West coast understand respect and tradition. What sort of 3rd rate numpty club would change the name of a 17 year tradition medal. It’s disrespectful to a great WA footballer.

No culture, no history, no success and no class.

Lol inaugural captain of WC ,I believe he is still in a working capacity at the club, was at Freo for one year, has spoken badly about the Freo footy club , yeah I can see why Freo would want a name change , only fans up in arms are WC fans don’t worry though he’ll be in the change rooms to award his medal after the game.

Cry more flog.

Once again, the laughing stock of the AFL…
