West Spoon Eagles

Whether they deny it or not regarding the re-build word, it’s been forced on them by Covid and a massive run of injuries, what is it, 47 players used so far? So the whole list is getting a look in including WAFL top-ups. They need to persist with playing the young guys with the support of a smattering of seniors, but I agree, some of the older blokes need a kick in the arse and a few weeks in the magoos. And well done to JK, a champion player who never gives up.

I think Simmo is smart enough to know that “a few adjustments” are needed…now. To be Shakespearean Simmo, a rebuild is a rebuild by any other name!! I hope though, JK and Hurn are given the utmost respect at the selection table for the rest of the year.
A Final year at the Sharks for JK next year would be nice.

Some ABC east coast journalists have been looking at West Coasts, trading of players.
2010 was there last top 10 pick,Andrew Gaff. Before the last draft they didn’t have a first round pick, since 2015,five years.Jarrod Brander might of been handy this year.
So what have the Eagles recruited for those first round draft picks.Since 2010
1.Tim Kelly
2.Alex Withardon
3.Elliott Yeo
4.Jack Redden
Midfielders two of which played in a premiership.
Going on East Perth and now WCER there’s a fair few spuds running around for them.
Looks like it all went well till the T Kelly trade. They just didn’t blood enough good young players. And have fallen off the cliff. Went back to the well, once more.Should of started the rebuild in the COVID years 20+21

Apparently WCE only have 22 fit players to pick a team for the game against Brisbane this week. As well as this Adam Simpson is also not able to coach this week due to COVID protocols. Surely they will have to dip into their supplementary list even just for emergencies. They are about to find out why Brisbane’s home ground is called the Gabbattoir.

Just confirmed they will take 4 WAFL top up players to Brisbane Jake Florenca, Declan Mountford, Angus Schumacher and Logan Young

I will play the devil’s advocate.
If their WAFL team cant play this weekend why cant they just take some of those WCER boys over as the sub/emergencies eg- Sumich, Young, Deegan, Browne, Ryan, Nitschke, Hansen etc etc instead of taking players from the 8 WAFL teams to top up as their sub/emergencies???
That way they are not interrupting the other clubs WAFL preparations and their WAFL boys actually get a run instead of sitting at home twiddling their thumbs!
Not too mention some of the WAFL clubs have actually got covid issues amongst their own squads at present!

Great point BH, West Coast should use the available resources at their disposal instead of poaching players who are an integral part of their respective clubs WAFL team. I don’t mind seeing guys like Aaron Black getting an opportunity at AFL level but it appears that this weekend all of these guys will be just travelling to Brisbane as emergencies so why couldnt they just take the players from their reserves team who are fit, given that game has been postponed. As a Swans fan I would be filthy if someone like Sam Fisher was withdrawn from the game against Claremont in order to go to Brisbane to twiddle his thumbs!

Now it has emerged that 2 West Coast Eagles players were at a nightclub on Saturday night. One of them, Jackson Nelson has been placed under the AFLs H and S protocols and there has been a fresh COVID outbreak at the club. There were also 6 Richmond players at the same club. The Eagles players were not breaking any club rules but their actions were at best not very bright given the way the footy club has been crippled with injuries and COVID this season.

So there’s not enough players to field a side - yet they can drop one player ???
and have the hide to then call up a WAFL player ???
bullshit operation this lot

Its a bloody disgrace, they dropped Dixon who is on their list and bought in Florenca who is not. AFL teams should be under obligation to play all of their list players before they dip into the supplementary group. Having said that I hope Florenca goes well and makes the most of his opportunity.

Agreed, pretty mystifying when they drop a fairly reasonable squad player and bring in an unknown. Thinking this could be part of the re-structure (aka rebuild) and they’re saying let’s have a look at this young bloke.

So now people are complaining that Rotham (an Eagles squad member)has been picked after his night out. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Why havent the WCE picked any of their LISTED players Bazzo, Trew or J.Williams in their team or even as emergencies as they all played WAFL last week and are not listed as either injured or being in H&S protocols???
Instead they have raided the WAFL clubs players to top them up but mostly as travelling emergencies???
This mob seem to just do as they please with the help of the afl whilst the WAFC sit on their hands and do or say nothing!

…because you have all been properly sucked in. That is why!
And people fail to see it!

Just saying

Surely they should make the trip and one of them plays ahead of Jake Florenca. Good to see the Eagles spanked again though the official line will no doubt be how brave they were.

Glad the Eagles have finally pleased you Ti Em, you’re obviously a Freo supporter. ?. I think you’ll have some joy with them for a couple of years or so because they have a bloody good line up and a bloody good coach (trained by the Eagles ?.

Nah I am Carlton me - Dockers doing well must be further salt to the wound for the hapless Eagles. Melbourne this weekend should be interesting. They shafted our Sharks - and we would have been top of table too.

Not sure the Eagles would give a rats arse about where the dockers are, they’ve got bigger fish to fry this year. Nice thought that the Sharks would have been top of the ladder, but it’s a bit coulda, woulda, shoulda. Still in with a big chance though.
Eagles will cop an absolute pizzling against Melbourne, but in reality, they’ve given me a lot more joy than most other AFL teams have given their supporters over the years. That’s footy hey?

Noticed Melbourne have drifted out in the betting for the match against the West Coast Rabble. Moved from $1.01 to $1.02. Must have been the news that their ruckman won’t make the trip.

Is that Gawn, haven’t seen their list. Won’t make any difference to them though.
